Gotta love those Fujifilm cameras!!! OK maybe it's because I've worked there for 22 years and they haven't booted me out the door after all those years Congrats TC, just remember to make a few prints every now and then. you'll be helping a fellow OFNer out

drop by any of the salvation army or goodwill places. They've usually got a ton of old and mismatched skis (downhill and cross country) I bought 3 sets last year for $5 each. Turned 2 sets into mini sled dog sleighs for ice fishing and still have an extra to use this year to fashion a double wide to carry my single man Frabill. Cross country work the best

rain spurred on the fish that were in tight. The next batch are still lounging out offshore as warmer water is still kicking around. I was out a couple weeks ago and all the way from 120 FOW to 280 I had 65F down to 80 feet deep. Was on the pier last night and noticed a ton of river washout in the water. No sign of any salmon surfacing in the harbour or off the breakwall. Water temp in the river was still 63F. Talked to one gent who had been out on the weekend and was still picking up salmon and rainbows in 250 FOW. We need some cold nights of a good north wind for a week

I made one for my last boat from 2" PVC. Scary but it loked almost exactly like the one in your link. At specific points I put joiners so I could disassemble and store in the rafters through the summer. I put 2 big blue tarps over top and tightened everything down with bungy chord and rope. Worked pretty good and you got 2 seasons from the tarp usually before it started to fray and leak.

Another way to get a good glow is to actually use the little tiny glow sticks. The trick is getting them on your lures. A while ago I was at Party Packagers and found glow-in-the-dark earrings. They were clip on earrings that held a tiny glow stick in a spring attached to a split ring. I bought 10 packs and most of my peir chucking spoons and such now have these springs attached to the back treble hook. All I do is crack a little glow stick insert and I can fish for 3 hours without ever having to worry about a charge

hit any pawn shop and pick up a camera flash. I got one last year after my old one went in the drink. Bought it at Cash convertor for $7. works like a charm

The final word on Lake Ontario Trib salmon
Fang replied to bigfish1965's topic in General Discussion
cut the river seasons down to protect spawning fish. simple enough. There's tons of rivermouths and estuary areas for both spring and fall we protect all other species but salmon -
get yourself a couple snap caps for this gauge (plastic hulls) and run them through a couple times. This'll get everything moving again before you put a live shell in. Very sweet shotgun and I must say kind of a sought after piece with us that like the old stuff. Would love to see a clearer picture of the wood. The old guns have some of the best wood grain character. I've been searching for an older 20G myself but have my heart set on an old browning auto 5

what about a live one???

That one must have come in on the gaff! My son like to poke them in the eyes before cleaning too

Hey GBW try adding 2-3 well burned charcoal blocks. I ran across this on a US smoker site and boy does it ever work to get the temp up inside. On high with just the hotplate I can get 160-170F in about 15 minutes. Add 1 piece of charcoal it goes to 190. with 3 pieces of charcoal I get 215-230. In my pan I push the smoking chips to one side and leave the charcoal on the other so the chips don't burn off too fast Just did another batch of steelhead on the weekend. finger licking good!!!! Took about 3 hours Watch the meat on the lowest rack too. It cooks alot faster than the top.

Not trying to be smart but Bronte or the credit is the last place I'd expose my son to stream fishing to at this time of year. The crowd the salmon run attracts on the first weekends is less than impressive and that's not something I want to experience again. I gave up stream "fall" fishing for salmon a while back casue I couldn't stand the amount of snaggers out there My honest suggestion would be to head up into some head waters areas and drift for some smaller trout. Try sections of the grand around kitchener or speed river through guelph. Check your regs for areas that allow bait. There's some great smallmouth fishing to be had there. I pulled into the parking lot at Petro last weekend and the few feet of river I walked it was a zoo with guys. You couldn't pay me enough to fish these areas for the next month or so. Bring on the snow!!!

there are models that will give you the install features you need. For power though I wouldn't go less than 70lb and 24 volt. Ive fished in various boats that have 40-55lb 12V systems and if you plan to venture out in any weeds or winds you'll wish you'd have spent the extra money. The higher lb thrust motors tend to also have infinte speed control and in Minn Kota, the maximizer system to prolong battery life

looks great. After 4 batches mine is started to really heave and warp. I'm gonna have to go back to the drawing board and line the inside with some plywood or maybe just start from the ground up again. I put the hot plate on high and have been getting 220F easy (it does take a while to heat up. One trick I came across was to add 1-3 well burned charcoal lumps. They boost the inside temp 20F for each lump added they saw. Another thing I've done is the wrap the hot plate with tin foil. Maek sure you don't come in contact with the burner though casue it will arc out. The tin foil takes all the drippings and saves the hot plate from getting messy Out on Lake Ontario this weekend to get some more rainbows. Nothing like candied trout in the smoker

I'm bringing my camera to the mississauga store next week. I think I recognize a couple from in there

I've tried several different models and have always returned to the lowly scum frog. Last weekend on Scugog I went 2-8 on a spro type with the weighted back end. I don't like this type of set up as I feel the button weight gets in the way of the body collapsing on hooks sets. Scum frogs all the way and wrap the hook shaft with a few inches of light solder wire or stick one dime sized peice of sponge up inside the body. I really like the Scum Frog BigFoot version but I take a tiny stay strap and fix the legs so they don't pull out on the first fish (lost the legs on the first 2 I tied on)

for geese it starts Sept 10th in southern Ont but for Parry sound area it opened on the 8th geese only though

Ran across the hook about 3 years ago when it was still in development. Just dumb luck while standing around at the sportsman show and quinte walleye fishing came up. The pro working this booth did a great job describing the shape and as I figured it was kind of a cross between a tru-turn worm hoook and a wide bend walleye hook. I remembered this and went seeing if I could bend some up. Well it took me a summer of playing around but I found the Mustad Bass Bug hooks and here's a picture of the slow death on the left and my version on the right. I've kept my version hidden in the box the last few years as my secret weapon when on the guys fly in trips and they have worked well. I've fished the home made ones for 3 summers now and bought the slow death this year I run them on a 6ft lead behind a bottom bouncer or walking sinker. Sometimes I will put an in line float in front as my hooks are a bit heavier. I tried the SD ones and find them a bit light for bottom bouncing. The first one i tied on i pulled straight on a log snag. I'll use both but will be bending up more of the bigger ones soon.

Fishing Lake Champlain Sept 13th to 18th
Fang replied to spinnerbaitking's topic in General Discussion
After seeing them so much on fishing shows and trying them with very good success this year I'd pack a few 4-5" swim baits. Biggest SB for me this year have come on them. I rig them texas rigged with a 1/2 weight and burn them just like a spinner bait over and around cover. -
Yeah open water light cover only. The light muskie rod I got works for docks and pads no problem
-
Goran if you're gonna replace buy LED. Princess auto has deals almost monthly on LED submersibles. Ever since I replaced mine never had any problems. Oh and buy the way I'd say you've got a grounding problem somewhere. They're like needles in haystacks
