School of Architecture has the best unknown basketball court in the city. My son and I go there to shoot when the weather is nice. Wayne there is decent smallmouth fishing all along the river from the dam down. Walk up the river a bit in the warmer weather and stop in at Barnacle Bill's for some ice cream cones to eat on the park benches and watch the river roll by. Or get some fish and chips if you practice C&R but have a hankerin for some fish.

He took a lot of flack but the "where to" articles and his Steelheading in Ontario book were great learning tools for a young man just starting out on his quest for exploring the fishing available in this province. Now I would freak if someone gave a hole by hole rundown on a river but it was great when you were a rookie.

I got a few smallies and eyes while I was at University from 83-87 right down by the Ambassador Bridge. Also while down there for baseball eliminations for my son back in 2007. We camped at Holiday Beach Conservation Area and did quite well for silver and smallies wading along the beach

I love this time of the year all the beauty 50" fish being caught. Yet at the same time I hate it because after 16 yrs I myself haven't got a fifty yet. Congrats dude that's a beauty.Hopefully I get one on the French weekend of November 20.

Yup looks like a gizzard shad. Use to catch a ton of them back in the day when you could fish right up in the outflow at the bruce nuke.

Roy Ive both electrofished( Do-able in a river situation) them and fyke netted them and then collected measurements and samples. Also angled and tagged them. Witness surgery for radio telemetry. In all situations fish are handled as little as possible and often given a break in holding pens before next measurement is done.
