  1. The site has grown thru the years and it has changed from being a small board where you know everyone. We now have thousands of people from all areas and walks of life. We all come here to laugh and cry as we share our days ins and outs with both old friends and friends we have not met yet. Is one better than the other ,will the answer in a word is no. We all continue to gain from our time here at the board or we would leave. One of the things that would go far in helping this site is if the members would control how they jump on each other for having a different view that theirs. We also have a policy that tries to prevent people from cussing or mock cussing not because we don't hear these words every day but it makes you think about what you have said if you are not using one of the automatic adjectives that you say without thinking. putting a level of how many posts are needed is already in place for the classifieds it is 20 posts and the newbies that are here for a quick ad will immediately send a mod a note and say they can't use the classifieds. Well once it is explained they either decide it is now worth any trouble and don't post or we get 20 nice fish posts so they can get their free ad. At the end of the day the most important thing to remember is you decide what to read and respond to. If you don't like a subject leave it alone. If you can't control your strong opinion then also leave it alone. As a Mod here it is a delicate balancing act between allowing the thread to go in a constructive path and shutting it down because of a few who are disrespectful of other views. The Moderators all have lives that are outside of the board and our time is limited. We read the thread adjust it if possible and if we feel it will go wrong again then we shut it down. Some people all look for a hidden reason on why we did it and accuse us of stopping threads counter to our views. It is one of the bad sides of the job of Moderator but the good part of the job far outnumbers the minimum bad. Thanks again to everyone for the most part patience and civilized way they interact with each other. To the other we will slowly weed them out but in an open community more will follow. Treasure the friends you make here and ignore the ones who aren't will go far in making this still one of the greatest communities on the internet. Art
  2. Ummm Bernie your a mechanic you can build anything you want .lol Art
  3. Don't forget about the chauffeur too. Art
  4. Good words for sure hopefully everyone after the emergency does drain the gas and run the carburetor dry a quick shot of fogging oil and the other issues you pointed out will have it ready for the next emergency. Art
  5. Ahhh good point I didn't think about that as an issue. That would put you in the category of being bent over the barrel. lol Down here the power company will destroy the trees as needed to restore power and the homeowner is responsible for getting it to the ground and cleaned up. In fact if you drop a tree on a power line you are fined for not calling them out first to trim it to a safe distance from the line. They also have the right to maintain any trees on an easement that you turn over to them to get power to your house. The trees are trimmed in concern of the lines not for how they will look after they are done butchering them. Art
  6. Smallmouth and largemouth do have different spawning habitat. I don't want to start the argument of is it good or bad for the fisheries. I know we have fished thru both of the species and have not been able to document any negative impact in most real life situations. I have a really nice 20 acre farm pond that I fish and have watch the fish spawn for a few years and identified specific fish that I have caught during the previous spawn return and do it again in the same spot. 7. I am betting the quotes are going to be at a premium till they get caught up with the damage done. If you can stabilize it till this spring you will not pay as much. Art
  8. 2015 models are already in production. If they were going to have it out it would be introduced as soon as March 2014. The 2015 Ford Tvan should be out at least here in the States at any time my local dealer told me they have already placed an order for a few and are hoping for March to be the delivery date. Art
  9. If not you can use it to train someone on how a bear repellent feels when it is discharged. Art
  10. A helpful link that is not for your personal monetary gain is just fine. Art
  11. Joe and I have restored boats, bikes and cars etc. if it is metal or has a motor it is a candidate for a winter restoration. Art
  12. Thank you everyone for posting your works of art for all to not only enjoy but also to own. I would like to let everyone know that OFC now has a place( the 3x3 banner on the top right of the pages)for you to let everyone know year around you have products for sale. You can contact any of the moderators for information and costs which will be used to help offset the boards expenses. Thanks again Art
  13. I will expect the claim to be denied because the seal if intact would have prevented water from getting inside the housing and doing the damage. I would look into the price for a rebuilt unit rather than repair. The extent of the damage could be greater than what you repair and destruct a second time when you start the fishing season. Art
  14. You are starting on a bad premise you are using a Harley instead of a real Motorcycle lol. Art
  15. Good job spending money to pay down debt is the first step of getting out of debt. Once you get the debt controlled you can budget painless fun money and not feel guilty. Art
  16. I have put my go pro on the dog to see where he goes on the farm. It is amazing how much he gets done on one of his walkabouts. Art
  17. No problem we got lots of toy's to play with. I even will be hanging zombie bait out for extra practice. Art
  18. Nope wimp fits I never claimed to be as cold tolerant as my Canadian friends. But to make the contest fair you get to come see me in August when it is in the 90's and not a dry heat...lol Art
  19. I lost count of how many gloves I lost bumper skiing behind cars. We even used tow ropes and snow boards skies saucers trashcan lids etc. Mostly bumps and bruises from the activities but no worse than sledding down a hill. Art
  20. Come on down some day and I will show you my brass kahunas........ she keeps them on the fireplace mantle. Art
  21. If time permitted I would head up for some ice time. The big challenge is getting permission for two fishing vacations in the same year. I prefer the summer North trips with the pike active and feeding. Art
  22. I find meal worms at most pet stores that sell food for reptiles. They are cheaper than the baitshop and usually in better shape. BTW I have never been mad enough to call my minnows pinheads, some of fishing partners yes but not my bait. Art
  23. Anything below -10 C has me deciding to either have heat on hand or not playing outdoors. I guess this puts me in the little boys category. Art
  24. Congratulations you now can watch the fish stare at your bait and not bite. I have the HD7 on the big boat and on a calm day you can watch the fish pass into the beam and move up or down for the bait. Art
  25. Even the nitrogen charged camera will freeze at them temps. lol Art
