Ford has continued to make the trucks and SUVs which only need the chips that are not available. The lots are so full they are considering shipping the trucks without a chip to the dealers and installing them in house. The down side is the new trucks are sitting and getting surface rust, door squeaks, and funny smells from sitting closed up in the weather. People are paying a premium, waiting for months and getting a less than perfect vehicle. The mustang, dodge charger and dodge challenger, are idle on the production lines. The golf cart industry can't deliver them fast enough to the golf courses so the ones that are replaced and sold to the public are hard to find and are selling for more than the asking price. I keep finding phone numbers and cards stuck on my boat at the marina asking if I want to sell it. Art -

Same down here Brian. The local car dealer who usually has 350 new cars now have 34 as of today. RVs, boats, even golf carts are very rare and are at a premium price. Most of it is not being able to get the smaller components to build with as well as delivering the finished products. Many people during lockdown pocketed the money they got and added the money they didn't spend on vacations and are actively buying sport and luxury items now. As the transportation industry gets parts and finished products back into the pipelines we should see a return to normal stock for new products and many slightly used sporting goods up for sale at a reduced price once people decide they are not as outdoorsy as they thought. All covers will rub the paint if you cover them as you are driving down the road. They also have the problem of when wet they hold the moisture in contact with the paint and decals will be more likely to delaminate the decals. Your best friend is a coat of wax and only cover when you are parked. Art

Lake Okeechobee was dammed in 1937 to help with flood control. It is a shallow lake that used to filter off into the everglades. As more of the everglades were turned into sugar cane fields they used canals to move the water instead of wetlands thus making filtration minimum at best. They then started discharging it down the Kissimmee River which runs quickly to the Gulf of Mexico. The resulting blooms of green algae were kill zones in the river and as it got into the Gulf it makes red algae blooms. The State of Florida is trying to release water much in the way Lake Nippissing does to lower the water gradually in the fall or spring to make room for more rain as they go into the rain season. This is not a new issue and this happens all over the place from New York to Florida where chemical intrusions occur. Art

The factory is closed now but the clean up continues from the contamination in the soil. Rain and storms have continued to escape the containment barriers and other methods in effect. The solution is dilution but this is a political minefield and both sides have dug in for the battle. With the differences of ground composition and water stratus what works up North does not work Down South. Art

The red tide is actually not something that is new. It is not weather related but rather from over abundance of nutrients. " 215 million gallons of nitrogen-rich wastewater made its way into the bay earlier this year from the site of an old fertilizer plant, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The algae feed on phosphorus and nitrogen." The Florida conservation core has been working with the holding lakes and trying not to draw them down unless they are full from to much rain. This water used to flow through the everglades and nature filtered it out before it bloomed. With Big Sugar using more of the land for Sugar Cane the filtering has become to low to cure the issue. They are trying to return more of the land back to being the filter but it will take time and effort to make the red and green algae blooms go away. Art

Fish relate to many factors and finding two or more of them will be considered productive water meaning there are fish there to catch if they are feeding. Dead water is where you have one or less factors and no fish are in the area. It could be no structure, wrong temperature, no weed lines, or other factors. Every place and species have their preference as to where they are comfortable. Art

Dave what type of fish are you going for and what style meaning surf fishing or boat fishing ? I use my musky rod and reel for the majority of boat and my bass rigs for shore fishing. The only specialty rig I have are my surf rods which are taller and have long butts on them. Art

I sent him a message and he should get back to you the next time he comes here. I do know that he has quite a few orders to fill on custom rods. Art

Sorry another thread ruined by our covid cowboys who will not leave it alone. I am going to start modding accounts. I am tired of the reports on people belittling others and spreading half truths on this subject. Take it to P.M. or off the site. thanks Art -
Light weight battery for my float boat trolling motor ?
aplumma replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
This might help you decide o what it will do. To calculate how long a battery will run a motor, let’s have a look at an average setup: 30 lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor – max 30 amp draw 35 amp hour (Ah) AGM battery and a 50 Ah battery as well Amps drawn Runtime with 35 Ah Runtime with 50 Ah Speed setting Max Medium Low Max Medium Low Max Medium Low 30 lb trolling motor 30 amps 15 amps 5 amps 1.2 hours 2.3 hours 6 hours 1.7 hours 3.3 hours 10 hours The table above will give you an idea of how long a 30 lb trolling motor will run with a 35 Ah and a 50 Ah battery at various speeds. Running the motor at full speed will draw 30 amps per hour, draining the battery in a little more than an hour. Running the motor at half speed will draw 15 amps per hour, meaning you will get 2:20 minutes runtime. Running the motor at the lowest speed setting will draw 5 amps per hour, so you will get 7 hours of run time. That’s not that bad! -
For some silly reason we have adults who us the word as a cuss word. This means women, children, and people who just plain don't want to see vulgarity who are on the site have to read them. We are a family site and wish to encourage people to fish, learn and support the great outdoors that Canada has to offer. Art
