  1. Make sure you use vinyl that is marine rated it has different backing and a textured finish. The homeowner version will get water under the laminate and mold. I removed the center carpet in my Ranger and then skimmed the floor to get rid of any seams or dips and blems. They will show thru the vinyl if you don't.I used heavy craft paper to cut a template and then transferred it to the vinyl. I used a special marine adhesive that applies to the floor then unrolled the new vinyl into place. I set the edges on one side and then smoothed the vinyl down using a rollingpin. Any excess adhesive needs to wiped up as soon as possible. Let it set up for 20 min and roll again and removed adhesive. This all being said the vinyl flooring is not as soft as the carpet and if you fish barefoot it does get hot in the sun. I decided to keep both of the casting decks carpeted and the center section is vinyl to land fish and easily clean up after. Art
  2. I used liquid roller on my bunk boards for a fiberglass boat. It will slide off the trailer at a very low angle and pushes off with little friction. I always leave the strap on till it is in the water. On my aluminum boat without the liquid roller I still strap it but it is not really needed. Art
  3. I have a fly that looks like a mulberry that floats for carp feeding on the surface. Other than very special instances I would go with what the carp guru's suggest. Art
  4. Nice fish and a great first post let's not get this locked down because of a net fight. The comment of bigger net was given in the light of good spirits let's keep this thread about the fish and the video and not bash each other. Art
  5. now that is a sight to behold. A plane in the middle of a fishing paradise. Art
  6. The framing and wood are not designed for the leaning or the pressure of the constant shifting of the weight of the person sitting in them. The fabric and the foam are designed for indoor use and will soon mold and tear. I would hold off on buying any more till these meet with your expectations. I run a 28ft cruiser and you will be surprised at the forces in play both running and when you are riding out the wake of other big boats. If the frames of the old seats are in good shape you can have them recovered and foamed for a reasonable price. Art
  7. I put the key to my hitch lock on the boat keychain so I get to see it at least once before I leave for the water. Glad you found it though they are a pain to replace if you don't know the key code. Art
  8. "Good night Mrs Calabash, wherever you are!" Art
  9. MMMMM meat sandwich with meat bread........ Art
  10. A few more weeks up North and I am sure the hair would be black again Brian. So maybe next year you can get your butt up there to fish with the Best? We look forward to it when it happens bud Art
  11. Thanks again for the excellent dinner Thursday and the great company. Just so you know the dog was I-I close to getting a new home South of the border. Art and Joe
  12. A great time and good people is all I can say. Thanks for the photos both of you. BTW the flaw in your assumption that it is a water snake is even land based snakes don't walk. I sure miss the evening chats where the beer makes this kind of debate make perfect sense. Art
  13. Hello all my name is Art and I was member #71 on the first generation of this board 4 generations ago. I am from wayyyy down South but have been to your all's Great Nation for many years to fish and see all that you have to offer. I am a Plumber by trade and find fishing for multi species of fish a great hobby. I felt there was more I could give to the board about 3 years ago and became a moderator here. If anyone needs help feel free to contact me or any of the other Moderators and we will be happy to help in anyway we can to keep the family feel alive and growing here. Art
  14. I have towed a 3,000 lb boat with both an 05 Titan and have recently replaced it with the 2012 f150 Eco Boost both are great and held a tow rating of 9,900 and 11,300 respectively. The f150 averages 13.7 MPG towing and the Titan was 11 MPG they did about 4-5 MPG better without a boat behind them. Art
  15. Check the female side while it is together for a split if it is not split apply wax to both sides. If it comes apart easily take a small strip of sandpaper and cut a thin strip and put it into the female side with a tag to hang on to and push the male part into it. Tear off the tag and it will stay put and still can be disassembled for storage. Art
  16. no problem Lew I will be your leader. Art
  17. Anything that eats mosquitoes is O.K. in my book. Art
  18. Yup surely is a lucky skunk if he doesn't build a nest under the deck while you are gone your "lucky". See yaa Sunday Lew Art
  19. Something that might help you here is ask for techniques or strategies most people will not share spots on the internet nor with someone that they have not met. This means you need to give us an idea as to what fish you want to catch and what resources you have available. A general tip for the area is fish the bay mouths and the inlets where the weed lines are still green. Hope this helps jump start this thread. Art
  20. What that lake needs is some "allyall".... It needs to be all of you all working together to get an answer. From an American point of view it does not matter why the fishing declines it is can you offer a product we will spend our now less valuable dollar to go fishing. With everyone trying for the same goal and the finger pointing stopped the lake has a good chance of returning to it's glory. Art
  21. Happy Birthday Maureen hope you have a fun day. Art
  22. I have not had a chance to follow Mr. Gillespie on your word I am sure he is also in the league as the others at the table. I hope to some day visit you at the "right time" and join the table of 5 there. I do confess I don't fish for muskies much except when Lew is nice enough to allow me in the boat while visiting Canada. I feel anyone who dedicates there life to furthering any resource both as an occupation and then to educate others is on the right road to keeping the resources alive and healthy. Art
  23. Once again Marc you prove that you have not only a great demeanor and a friendly smile but a lifetime of knowledge. While most of us fish for muskies as a form of recreation, which has no penalty for not catching a fish. When it is your living you have proven that with knowledge and dedication you can put a fish of the lifetime in someones memory without hurting the reason you can make a living in a manner you have chosen. I have followed Pete Mania as well and when the two of you get into a room together I envy anyone else who is in the room to listen to the knowledge that is present. Art
  24. If you can get your lure out of there mouths and still have 5 fingers it is a bowfin. Art
