  1. akaShag is right, some of the lures, boxes, and paper work and even old fishing magazines can draw a good price. Ebay is sort of a zoo, you need all the possible info you can get on older stuff there, and condition can be everything. Some of those folks have no real clue about what they list, it's old so it has to be worth a lot? Well not really.
  2. Further reading on the topic. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0380133019301133 msp, to the best of my knowledge no US state stocks bass in the Great Lakes, and most of the states bordering them have some sort of closed season or catch and release only times. Erie and St. Clair are a lot different than Lake O a lot of shallower water to spawn in, never fished St. Clair, but here on Erie you could regularly find smallies and largemouth spawning in the same areas, once the spawn was done a lot of those areas became unusual places to catch a smallie. The St. Lawrence with it's current has to make spawning and survival of fry a challenge? Deeper cooler water also? slows the growth rate?
  3. Welcome Malcolm, https://www.ebay.com/itm/NICE-VINTAGE-HI-SPORT-LURE-11-25-19POT-FROG/123993438376?hash=item1cde95b8a8:g:h1MAAOSwqwhd4Xle There is a link to one of those lures on ebay, if you have the boxes or names on the lures you can research them there and get a rough idea of their value.
  4. It's been over a month now and he is still in an intensive care unit, luckily at one of the best hospitals in the world. Newsweek ranks Cleveland Clinic as 2nd best hospital in the world Nice to see Toronto with one!
  5. The Ohio record smallmouth was caught in Lake Erie in 1993? 9.5 pounds or so? Another 20 + years of eating gobies hasn't produced a bigger one?
  6. 20 inch perch are called walleye?
  7. When you launch your boat for the first time take a little extra time to check your empty trailer for broken or cracked welds, it's a lot easier with the boat off the trailer.
  8. Perch Fishing for GIANTS - The biggest perch I've ever seen - YouTube I don't know how much of a difference there is genetically between the European Perch and the ones here, but a 7 pound Perch?
  9. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/01/us/lake-trout-record-trnd/index.html It might be my eyes? but that mount will need a serious paint job?
  10. LOL, what did you win for those 3 fish? http://www.lakeeriefishingderby.com/2020-fall-brawl.html?fbclid=IwAR3_Iz-4XBbSWbXbkao3jb-cdIdkldqrKzd6esYCNswH76lIk3QN_7ostUE Actually winning that thing involves a good deal of luck, same could be said of a lot of fishing events though. We don't really have a Quinte here, so choice areas and spots can cover a lot of miles. In part you are competing against charter captains that operate as head boats during the brawl, they only want fall brawl participants. https://www.facebook.com/groups/301921010176028/ It is quite a distance to come for a lot of people, planning for someone not from the area can be very tough, because you are having to gamble on the weather also, some days you just aren't getting out to fish.
  11. " The Jumbo weighed in a 1.765 lbs " LOL, I had that problem in bass tournaments. As someone that suffers from MS I can just from what I have seen in my country that there are a lot of people with MS and other auto immune diseases that need help.
  12. John, I am most familiar with the Cleveland Clinic, it seems that most hospitals in the area are now associated with them or University Hospitals. The Clinic main campus is one of the best hospitals in the world, and between patients and the doctors looks like the UN building, people from all over the world giving and getting treatment. More than one hospital building there, it's a complex.
  13. As the season progresses and gets nearer to the spawn those fish fatten up and eggs fully develop.
  14. Maybe a charter bus to parking?
  15. I don't know John, more people more chances of illness? plus more reporting and exchange of info? He is awaiting transfer to his 3rd hospital, the Cleveland Clinic's main campus, just hoping they can help.
  16. How many auto workers, steel workers, and others in the manufacturing industry had to find other lines of work? It's sad that basically a few can spoil the fishing for many? I can still recall the battles here over buying out the commercial walleye netters, and their arguments that they weren't taking enough fish to hurt the population, but once they were gone from our waters here the walleye fishing on Erie returned. Sure there are other factor, weather, the spawn, but the biggest problem seemed to be the netters?
  17. No clue Terry, but wouldn't an 8 volt battery in a system that uses 6 volts be constantly under charged?
  18. 3 weeks ago today our friend and house mate left here to have lunch with his sister, he has been hospitalized ever since, 30 years old, the same age as my son. The first reports were that he was acting crazy, not that it couldn't happen, but in the 5-6 years he has lived with us I have never seen any hints of it. Now the thinking is this Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis - Wikipedia which seems to make a lot more sense to me. There was actually a book and movie about a case that seems similar https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain_on_Fire_(film). Needless to say we are hoping for a good outcome and complete recovery for our friend.
  19. " Can I use a 36 volt charger on a 48 volt golf cart? No. You must match volts to volts. A 36V cart requires a 36 volt golf cart charger. A 48V cart requires a 48 volt golf cart charger. You can burn up your batteries if you do not charge with the proper voltage. Check out our 36V vs. 48V Guide for more information. " I am assuming from that if you have a mix you may have problems? https://batteryoutlet.ca/ maybe you could call?
  20. https://www.golfcartgarage.com/what-is-my-golf-cart-battery-voltage-volts/ I would be a bit leery of mixing them up.

  22. Man’s body discovered in Newbury Township pond after he fell through ice while fishing Sad to hear also, this really hasn't been a winter for safe ice here.
  23. I recall Pointe Au Baril in the 60's and 70's, every camp we stayed at there seemed to designate one evening for a " fish fry " a non participant myself, but due to the lack of walleye at that time smallmouth bass and panfish filled the menu. Things like that certainly didn't benefit the fishery?
