The two years that had the heaviest first place fish also had the highest average weight fish for the top five. Our area had like 5 inches of snow last Monday evening into Tuesday, a bit early for that much snow here, and it wasn't completely gone until Sunday, which probably affected the opportunities for people to get out in safe weather.

Sorry to hear about Roy's health issues he was always good to me, and I have only met two people from the board.

Hmmm? First they banned non residents from catching their own bait, now it has progressed to residents? As a citizen in possession of a valid license should you not be entitled to catch your own bait anywhere a commercial netter is allowed?

Don't panic? There were all kinds of doom and gloom articles when the mussel and gobie invasion started here on the south side of Lake Erie, the mussels can be a pain, the gobies just seemed to turn into another food option for a variety of other fish species. I personally view the common carp as a big danger, they get huge and seem to consume anything in their path, a lot of food for other fish gets consumed growing those water hogs to 30 - 50 pounds? I certainly don't think allowing the gobies to spread any farther is a good idea, some of your trout streams, rivers , and lakes really couldn't handle them? Small hair jigs like those will catch just about anything. l

It may have been a widespread internet issue, I had problems earlier today with sites loading.

Not quite a valid comparison but at one time I had a 24 foot Searay Sundancer, it was a well made boat and suited for bigger waters, I kept it docked in the Erie island area. Still care needed to be taken, some days you just weren't meant to be out there? Compare a glass boat and aluminum of similar length and style and a heavier glass boat should have a better ride in rougher waters. My options with my 17 foot aluminum usually involved inland lakes and calmer waters in questionable weather. It is sort of a person choice? I never had a desire to go out and get beat up on any day's weather. That is a nice boat, just depends on the amount of punishment you are willing to stand to catch a fish?

Just something to consider, it's probably going to be a lot easier to find a place to stay for a few days before school lets out for the summer.

They used to stock Stripers at West Branch reservoir here about 60 miles east of me, the Ohio record at 37 pounds came from that lake in 1993. I think they stopped stocking them here quite a few years ago.

http://www.rockthelake.com/buzz/2018/01/muskie-caught-ice-fishing/ A rare central basin muskie, that one didn't get a chance to spawn.

Saw some videos of guys fishing the Buffalo harbor area and catching them too, LOL, one charter captain didn't want that stinky fish in his boat. At times I wonder about DNR's decisions, they could have stocked muskies on this side instead of Coho or Steelhead? Not a species that wasn't native, although at one point in time there may have been trout here, LOL before humans improved things?

Hi Phil! It would make sense that some of those Lake St. Clair fish would wander down this way? Have you seen any new areas of weed growth around the island area? I can picture them finding a mix of habitat in Sandusky Bay or possibly East Harbor but the main lake was pretty devoid of weeds. Still fishing with Captain Joe?

Nice fish Pigeon! Years ago I caught pike in the very early spring here, never personally caught a ski or even hooked one fishing Erie. About 40 years ago a friend caught one around 10 pounds around the Avon Lake power plant and he was a straight up guy so I believed it. They would make the Lake a bit more interesting to fish?

Nice place John. That storm hit here too, I saw a news story that said there was a 10 foot difference in the water level between Toledo and Buffalo.

I have tracked some of the stuff I have ordered, it can reach the states and then seems to take weeks clearing customs, but on some they do seem to take a while getting out of their country.

https://www.wholesalemarine.com/steersman-aluminum-steering-guard-7-8.html# Many years a go I put a product like this on my steering cable, it was really easy and never had any steering issues, but my motor was only 35hp. There seems to be a number of similar products out there, as I can recall I got mine one fall on closeout from Walmart for a couple of bucks. -
When you buy off any of those sites ebay included you have to look at the feedback of the seller and or comments, but that is probably true with any online purchase. Ali charges you to use paypal, their alipay is free.

LOL, after the repeated claims I see here about the Walleye fishing being the best ever I do wonder about the need for a third rod? I don't know how the charter captains work, are you done for the day once your charter has limit of legal size fish? It might allow them to book 2 charters a day?
