I haven't been there since 1989, I can only imagine what it looks like now? In 25 years or so I only made it out as far a Table Rock a few times, and that was with another boat along in case of problems. There were plenty of fish closer! also plenty of rocks! Never had much of a problem with them, going slow doesn't bother me.

If I was looking? It certainly wouldn't be for a Tracker.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/250-Matzuo-149010-SICKLE-JIG-HOOKS-3-0-BLACK-CHROME-149010-3-0-/171356955523? A good price for 250 3/0 jig hooks, but i have never seen or used that brand personally. They might be OK for fun fishing, but on tournament day I want something I have had experience with. Gammie 604's or http://www.ebay.com/itm/1OOO-VMC-V7150-BK-2-0-90-DEGREE-JIG-HOOK-/171327550834?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27e3eaf572 that also is a good price for a 1000 hooks. The 2/0 is big enough for smallies or largemouth and never had a problem with them. They are tougher than the Mustad 32746 bln hooks Not a tournament day hook, ask me how I know! LOL http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/mustad-aberdeen-jig-hooks/810104.aspx For half the price?

Write down the serial number and call a Merc dealer? http://www.iboats.com/basics/serial_number_year.html but maybe not?

I hope all goes well for you and Diane Lew!

Santa might need that?

" Do not engage before the lure hits the water, you'll ruin your reel. " I agree, thumb the spool. 5600 is a bass sized reel, you should probably go bigger for skis, especially if you are using 1-4 ounce lures regularly.

It got down into the 40's here last night, cool. Before labor day I was using 3 gallons of bird feed a day to fill the bird feeders, it's now down to a gallon a day, I think the birds headed south!

(1) Except as provided in division ((2) of this section, no person shall operate any motor vehicle, other than a public safety vehicle or school bus, that is equipped with studded tires on any street or highway in this state, except during the period extending from the first day of November of each year through the fifteenth day of April of the succeeding year. Ohio's law pertaining studded tire use, it is unusual for us to have snow before November, also after April 15th.

LOL! I will admit to being a geezer! The hobby seemed a lot cheaper back in " the day ".

Our law makers 140 or so miles south of us in Columbus caught a lot of flack when they tried to ban them here! They don't see much lake effect snow there.

Great pictures! My dog wishes I had a tree that big! See the wonders, don't sit around.

30 bucks for shipping seems outrageous for parts you can stick in an envelope and mail.

Early fall - working overnight for walleyes
OhioFisherman replied to mike rousseau's topic in General Discussion
Sort of funny, my dad used to tell us stories of the boats on Lake Erie at night fishing for Blue Pike and Walleye at night when he was a young man, you would be hard pressed now to find people around here out there fishing for Walleye these days. Walleye were never really a prime target for me, the only time we tried it about 30 years ago? We had our limits by midnight. -
It should only take a couple of days for it to get to Ontario? LOL
-
I seem to remember paying a lot less than that for a 20hp Merc in the 1960's new. Heck my 1973 Dodge tradesman van was 3100 out the door new.
-
Nice! September was always my favorite time to head north.
-
Nice! I had some very good days and nights throwing jitterbugs and hula poppers.

The population of Ontario has at least doubled since the 1960's? and most of that probably centered in the southern portion? Since I am a geezer? I can remember when people didn't have to go too far into Ontario to catch walleye or have a real good chance at a 40 inch pike. Fishing pressure has played a major role, and you had the cottage boom of the 50's, 60's, and 70's? The tourism boom over the same time period? We had to travel to catch walleye, Lake Erie didn't seem to have many? Every camp I stayed at seemed to have a weekly fish fry for the guests, and then you can only wonder what the locals were doing? The people at their weekend retreats? A lot of the lakes in southern Ontario saw a huge growth in fishing pressure, not to mention boat traffic, shoreline construction and such?

http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fisheries/management/habitat.html Lake rehabilitationFish habitat in many shallow lakes has been destroyed by carp and black bullheads. These fish root in the silty lake bottoms and stir up nutrient-laden sediment. The murky water blocks sunlight from reaching aquatic plants that stabilize the lake bottom and provide oxygen and habitat for game fish and water insects. Bluegills and bass numbers drop, while the seemingly indestructible bullheads and carp thrive in the gray-green soup.
