Just my experience here stateside, bass fishing has improved considerably since catch and release was promoted by bass, there are still aspects of some tournaments I am not a fan of.

An investigation discovered 195 dead bass, including 188 dead bass in plastic bags found in the garbage. http://www.ibassin.com/ " Ben Woo and staff later dumped 188 of those dead bass into the garbage, which is an illegal act as no game fish or wild animal is allowed to be wasted without proper steps taken to fully utilize it. " Think there was a thread about it, at the time I thought it was very unusual.

Covid vacine, will you, wont you ?
OhioFisherman replied to misfish's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
I would like some time to see what exactly is happening to those that get the vaccine outside of a clinical trial. https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/17/opinions/covid-polio-vaccine-parallels-oshinsky/index.html -
When I got up yesterday my power was out and it was howling, you hear people say a tornado sounds like a train? It sounded like that pretty much all day here.

Lake Erie boys this may change the lake
OhioFisherman replied to AKRISONER's topic in General Discussion
I got up to a howling sound ( wind ) and our power was out, they did mention here in the weekend fishing report that gale force winds were expected. Ya sinker is probably right, this certainly isn't the first time for a bad blow on Erie. -
https://www.cleveland19.com/2020/10/30/record-shattering-coronavirus-cases-reported-ohio-last-hours/ Things aren't getting any better here either, and I have no clue how they can improve when you have people suing politicians and medical professionals for shutting things down.

2020 at Port Maitland plus seeking fall pier fishing advice
OhioFisherman replied to huzzsaba's topic in General Discussion
No idea, on this side of the lake they are catching walleye from the piers and other shore line access spots. -
That is kind of an old school hobby, one of my uncles dabbled with it but no idea to what extent. http://www.lapidaryworld.com/clubs_canada.html

Importance of a good net guy/girl

Never really had much trouble losing fish in a tourney, but a 1 pound bigger fish or a 1 pound fish to fill a limit would have put me in the money more often. -

https://www.ebay.com/b/Pfluger-Vintage-Casting-Fishing-Reels/36176/bn_1969558 They actually had a lot of models, I think dad had 1 and 1 Shakespeare reel but mostly Langley's, and from there he went to Abu's.
-
True Temper had quite a few plants, they had one in Ashtabula Ohio too, no idea where the rods were made. Pflueger reels were big in this area too, figures because they were based in Akron Ohio.
-
Mine was covered under my homeowners policy, but they had pretty strict limits on the size of the motor, like 40 hp? Not sure if they even offer coverage in Canada.

Did the bamboo pole myself as a kid, for spring crappie fishing a 12 - 16 foot long pole made it easy to drop bait right om their heads! First reel was a Langley bait caster on a True Temper steel rod, it cast well, but the drag sucked, it didn't have one except a thumb on the spool. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Langley-Lure-Cast-330-Reel/184465599709?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225085%26meid%3Da5af3318ea9743a6aff03f5e0bc55b67%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D313229209874%26itm%3D184465599709%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DDefaultOrganic&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 Note the high tech vented spool!

It's probably a lot easier for Canadians to " wing it " and find places to stay without hordes of tourists from other countries to compete with? It's been a long time for me to make it up there, but I still recall having to make reservations and leave a deposit to be sure I could get the weeks I wanted for the next year, especially during peak summer months.

Brian, I am not positive exactly how our system works from state to state, but I think some require you to get plates from their state if you are going to be there for 90 days? Could it have been a snow bird returning home?

Bending aluminum pipe advice
OhioFisherman replied to captpierre's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
I am assuming it got bent hitting something? A solid bar maybe too strong, the next hit might break the plastic and cause a bigger problem? -
Bending aluminum pipe advice
OhioFisherman replied to captpierre's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
It doesn't look that badly bent and I might be a bit leery of heating a piece of thin wall aluminum pipe. If it is removable you might try finding a piece of oak dowel rod that will fit snugly inside the pipe and slide it in farther as you bend it straight? using a piece of iron pipe? -
Automotive service question

https://www.toyotaofsantabarbara.com/rav4-recommended-maintenance-oil-change/ " Check condition of brake fluid " I see that at 15-30k miles, but I have never had it done or had a brake fluid issue, and this is the first time I have heard of it. -
