  1. I would get that repaired or replaced before using it, it's going to be out of balance and that might affect the motor. Like porkpie says, there should be a shop in your area to repair it, and it's always nice to carry a spare.

  3. https://www.ebay.com/itm/114065290899?hash=item1a8ed23693:g:NRwAAOSweBpeqt7A These ones work well, and so do some of the even cheaper ones on Ali.
  4. LOL, Peter those aren't the tiny ones, I am guessing size 2 or 3. A pair of split ring pliers works best, but if you can pry it with an old butter knife
  5. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2021/05/lake-havasu-yields-another-redear-sunfish-of-world-record-size Another article on the same fish, looks like they might be able to reduce the zebra and quagga mussel problem in the great lakes?
  6. They may not be too eager to give out that info? It works better for them if you throw it out and buy a new one?

  8. " On March 19, Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt announced that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will distribute almost $1 billion to state and territorial fish and wildlife agencies to fund conservation and recreation projects. These funds have been raised through a rather well-designed excise tax levied on firearms as well as hunting and fishing equipment. The specific figures for the states can be seen in the table at the end of this piece. " Ohio got almost 20 million that year, builds and maintains a lot of boat ramps and such?
  9. " The excise tax on fishing gear was established by the Dingell–Johnson Act in 1950. The rate is 10 percent of value and is also collected at manufacturer level. While a specific flat rate excise tax would improve the design, the rates are low enough to avoid interfering with consumer choice. " https://taxfoundation.org/excise-tax-on-firearms-tax-on-fishing-gear-tax-on-hunting-gear/ Here in the states manufacturers do get dinged based on their sales to support fish and wildlife. I started fishing tournaments in the early 1970's and would still be doing it if I was able to. I am not down on all aspects of them, but it beats bowling for me!
  10. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-02989-9 Increased testing gives the medical professionals a better handle on knowing who actually has covid and not the flu or a bad cold? It also helps them determine hotspots and trends in the population and perhaps determine areas that may need more resources to deal with it?
  11. Glad to hear you are OK! Some of these new adventures as we get older I would be glad to miss!
  12. That sounds like something they should look into to prevent the carp they are trying to prevent from entering the Great Lakes?
  13. " If you can trust the numbers, 3 million deaths out of 8 Billion people. That ranks pretty average and even on the low side of other diseases killing people. " Allegedly we learn from advances in science and our past mistakes? The numbers seem low? Well compared to the 1918 pandemic? yes, they didn't have the science or experience to do much about that. Just suppose we let our mass of humanity wander about and breed a variant they can't control?
  14. Often wondered why Mack used the twin and even triple shifters when other MFGs were using 9-10 speed road rangers.
  15. We don't have 10 times the population of Canada, but more than 20 times the deaths? They can't be screwing things up too badly?
  16. Disconnect the plug wire, take the plug out and hook the plug wire back up to it? you should see a spark?
  17. Agreed, but the gobies could still impact that, just may take longer? Spawning and survival rates of the spawn, them eggs get eaten and the numbers drop? That VHS might also be a bigger factor than realized? I have seen the pictures here where it suspected in fish kills, but it always seems to involved fish that are a lot common than skis or pike? If you see a dead ski or pike do you do a study to determine the cause of death?
  18. What about the northern pike population there? they spawn the same way?
  19. Probably not a lot of people jigging a lipless crankbaits thru the ice? Great pics!
  20. An interesting article, Perch also don't guard a nest, and gobies may be a reason for the declining population in the central basin of Lake Erie here? https://thefishsite.com/articles/species-profile-yellow-perch-perca-flavescens A gobie or school of them might just eat up a whole strain of eggs?

  22. Depending on how and where you fish you probably don't need to fill the reel up with braided line, use some mono for backing.
  23. The Walleye spawn here on Lake Erie has been going on for a few weeks now, the Perch seem to need help? https://ohiodnr.gov/wps/portal/gov/odnr/discover-and-learn/safety-conservation/about-odnr/news/yellow-perch-daily-limit-reduced?fbclid=IwAR12VZUwbffAdfxQHst_F7GgWrThkxmDCQGyJ7kXYg4fFRUVg3B5_SyBAUo

  25. What seems a bit troubling to me is that this stuff seems to mutate faster than the flu virus?
