  1. shhhhhhhh
  2. I had a bunch of maple kitchen cabinet doors to sell and posted them in the OFC classifieds last week as I wanted to give OFNers 1st crack at them if there was any interest, which unfortunately there wasn't. I posted them on kijiji at 9:00 this morning and had 3 replies within 30 minutes. The 1st guy that replied showed up here at 1:30 with cash in hand for the full price and the deal was done and the doors were on their way to a new home. 4 1/2 hours from placing the add till the $$$$ changed hands is pretty good service in my books Now what am I gonna do with all this extra moolah ??
  3. And at my age Chris, there's ALOT of memories
  4. It's probably been around for so long and has reached 17 pages because so many guys are enjoying it, but that's just my guess. Never could understand why guys around here worry so much about what other people enjoy.
  5. Many will disagree with you Matt cause every Timmies I see has cars lined up around the block for the drive-thru. And for what it's worth, I'll take a large with double cream & an apple fritter....thank ya very much !!!!

    g2g

I didn't attend last years g2g at Lakair but I was there for the 6 previous years and it's always a great time. Like Art says though, it would be absolutely impossible to pick a date that would suit everybody and no matter when it was, there would be guys complaining that they can't make that time frame for one reason or another. There's still nearly 3 months before the g2g so that should give everybody that's interested a chance to set it up.
  7. Happy Birthday my friend and all the best to ya !!
  8. The Tekota 600 is an excellent reel and you'll be more than happy with it, but the line counter model makes life easier if you ever want to know precisely how far back everything is.
  9. Happy belated Wayne !!
  10. Jeeeez, I must be gettin old cause I have no idea what any of those things your talking about are
  11. Still dry over this way too Wayne, infact there's a few blue patches opening up....keeping fingers crossed
  12. Incredible picture Drew, that makes the whole trip worthwhile right there !!
  13. I've fished from all the styles of boats over the years and have owned most of them and every one has it's good points and bad points and depends what you need. Tillers are great because of the extra room you get and are nice for precise boat control but can be miserable in really nasty weather. Single & dual consols are great for running WOT down the lake on a cold moring but somewhat cut down on your space if you have a smaller boat and are also uncomfortable on those miserable cold rainy days. Full windshields give the most protection when running down the lake but unless you have a bigger boat your movements are also somewhat limited. My personal favorite after all the boats I've owned is a full windshield with a standup, fully enclosed top. As mentioned a few times previously in this post, when your fishing big water in November & December and the winds are howling and the snow is blowing, it's great to have the full encloser to keep you warm, dry and comfy.
  14. That's good news Jer, this winter foolishness has gone on far too long
  15. Mornin Roy & Chris, I think I like my scenery better
  16. Beautiful sunrise over Clear Lake this morning ahead of the approaching snow their calling for.
  17. Very sad news Cliff and from one dog lover to another, you have my deepest condolances. As soon as I saw the title of your post I had a feeling what it was gonna be about. It's very tough to say goodbye to such a loyal friend. Sorry for your loss.
  18. Sad but true Chris and I can recall fishing Quinte in May one year when we had snow flurries. The Great White North indeed
  19. Calander says it's sposed to be springtime but somebody didn't get the memo cause it's snowing like crazy here with about 1/2 an inch in the last 30 minutes and no let-up in sight
  20. UltraMar north of Lakefield is always the cheapest in the area and an hour ago he was $1.14 and in town its $1.17
  21. One thing that I found really sad about this whole incident was the fact that NOBODY, except myself and the guy in the 2nd truck, stopped to see if everybody was OK. The over turned car was only 50' off the hiway and perfectly visible to the dozens of vehicles that went by in the 15 minutes I was there. Lotsa folks are sqeamish or afraid of badly injured people and avoid accident scenes and that's understandable, but at least check to see if an ambulance has been called and if not, please do it yourself. Not everyone carries a cell phone and if nobody at the scene is able to call for help at least you could do that. Something else you can do if you don't want to get involved with the injured is to offer blankets, especially in the winter, even if you have to just leave them there. Blankets are cheap and you could easily buy another one. And please carry at least one fire extinguisher in your car. Again, you may not want to get involved but you can still give the extinguisher to someone else to use if needed. Again, their cheap but could definetely save someones life. Maybe with me being a retired fireman I look at these situations differentely than many, but folks just have to learn to get involved sometimes and help others who are in very serious danger or badly injured. Sorry for the early morning rant but it's terrible to hear of people dying because nobody wants to get involved.
  22. Ain't that the truth !!
  23. I don't watch hockey and have no idea who Phaneuf is Dan, but congrats on the win and it sounds like your gonna have a fun weekend. And your definetely in for an eye opener heading from T-Bay to the Big Smoke and not necesarily in a good way
  24. Thanks for the comments folks. The more I think about what may have happened yesterday, the more thankful I feel today.
  25. I had to go into town today for a 1:00 o'clock appointment and was heading down my road which ends at hwy 28. Just as I was approaching the hiway & stop sign a car that was southbound on the hiway crossed the centre line into the northbound bound lane, then went onto the shoulder, hit a snowbank and went past the stop sign and across my road right in front of me and EXACTLY where I would have been sitting 5 seconds later. He was still doing hiway speeds and hit another snowbank on the south side of my road, went airbourne across a 10 foot dropoff and flew about 40' before he hit the ground nose first, flipped and spun around a couple times before landing on his side with the drivers door facing up. I jumped outta my truck and ran down the hill fully expecting him to be dead or at least badly injured but as I got closer I could see him struggling inside the car. I called to see how he was and couldn't believe when he said he wasn't hurt. He was able to open the door and push it part way up then I was able to push it further open while he climbed up outta the car and jumped down to the ground. By this time a truck that had been following directly behind him and also witnessed the whole thing had made a u-turn and came back and had already called 911. The guy appeared to be totally unhurt and fully alert and said he must have fallen asleep and didn't remember anything about what just happened. Thank God for seatbelts and airbags. I had to leave for my appointment and the 2nd driver said he'd wait for the police. On my way home later on I stopped for a better look and saw how close I actually came to being nailed by this car doing probably at least 50 MPH. If I'd have been only 4-5 seconds earlier I would have been stopped in the very spot he came through and would have been clobbered broadside. Somebody was definetely looking out for both myself and the other fella today and for that, I'm absolutely thankful.
