  1. 3 years on my Fortrex now and I couldn't find a negative about if I tried and it's by far the best trolling motor I've ever had. 62" shaft & 80 pound thrust takes me anywhere I want to go, even into the strongest winds and heaviest weeds and the lift assist makes it effortless to stow or deploy. Built in transducer for my front sonar is pretty slick too. As mentioned by Bob though, it all depends on the style of fishing you do and features you want.
  2. 10-9-8...
  3. Storage becomes somewhat more of a problem when the baits are larger than bass sized lures. I use Tupperware type boxes and just lay the baits on top of each other and sort them out as needed. I normally only carry what I need so the tangles aren't usually too bad.
  4. We used to do alot of fishing around an island in Bay Of Quinte just north of the ferry. Eventually the cormorants discovered it and took up residence on the end of the island and within 2 years everything was white with their excrement and all the trees they used appeared dead. A few years back there was a cull in the area and if I recall correctly they eliminated 6000 birds. There were no longer ant birds on the island and the trees regained their foliage and to see them today you'd never know there was any sort of problem. Just thought some may find that interesting.
  5. That says it all right there Kelvin
  6. Anybody can do it...ANYBODY...but 1st off you need to convince yourself that you really WANT to quit. If your not 100% committed to stopping you'll have a very hard time. Once you realize why you want to quit and what the benefits are, it actually becomes very easy.
  7. That'd be worth the price of admission just to see that
  8. You may actually have a problem returning it now that you've drilled holes in it and applied glue to some parts. Be interesting to hear how you make out and best of luck with it.
  9. Sometimes it feels good to be called a quitter
  10. Hope your gonna post the story of the re-build along with plenty of pictures as you progress Skip. It's always interesting to follow those sorta things.
  11. Thanks for the great read Dave, gotta love softwater reports for January.
  12. Well done Ernie, sure does feel good eh !!!! 21 years away from those filthy things for me now.
  13. I've got "lift assist" on my Fortrex and it makes stowing and deploying the motor is unbelievably easy and I'm assuming the Maxxum uses the same technology ??
  14. My son enjoyed bungee jumping, but then again he was also a fan of jumping out of perfectly good airplanes too. Sure didn't get any of those traits from me though
  15. Sometimes it's not worth the hassle of returning inexpensive items, but for $150 I'd sure be making the trip, but that's just me I spose.
  16. Well done Dave, some real beauts there for sure !!!!
  17. It's all a personal choice Rob depending on the type of fishing you do. I've always preferred cable steer myself, infact when I bought my current boat it came with a Terrova but I had the dealer replace it with a Fortrex. I've always found cable to be more direct and faster, plus your not using your battery power to operate it. PD on the other hand allows you to operate it from anywhere in the boat, but they seem to always develope problems in the circuit board.
  18. If that kid ever leans his gun against a tree he'll never find it again
  19. Sorry to hear about Dianes set-back Kelvin but still got my fingers crossed for a full & speedy recovery.
  20. Just checked the flyer for my local CTC in Peterboro and it says your hut was available as of this past Friday, but who knows now Maybe worth a call.......705-745-1388
  21. It's OK Brian, I know what your trying to say, and I'll forgive you....just this one time
  22. Same with me too Wayne, I've always payed the extra up front for the 3 year license and then don't have to worry about it for awhile. Fortunately though, I no longer have to worry about it at all anymore
  23. Thanks Rich, I was never sure about that.
  24. When do the deer lose their antlers Bob ?? I had a buck in the back yard a few days back and my wife asked me when, but I have no idea
  25. No experience with Abu's but am very satisfied with all my Compres. It's also nice that I'm only 20 minutes from the P'Boro repair shop too whenever the need arises.
