I'm with Bill on the Solomons. I've been wearing the same pair for probably 12 years now and their still in great shape and the Gore-tex lining is excellent for keeping my feet dry. I payed $185 for them 12 years ago but it was more than worth it. Lotsa guys seem to like the Merrells but I'd be suspect about their quality anymore as Craig mentioned. I payed $115 for Merrel sandals 2 years ago and when I got them home I noticed they'd missed 1/2 the stitches when they were making them. I took them right back to the store for another pair and after only 2 weeks of wear most of the stitching was either fraying or just pulling straight out. Had to make yet another trip into town to get my $$$$ back. Last pair of anything I'll ever buy with the Merrell name on them.

I replaced all the T-12 fixtures in my garage with 20 new 4' T-8's Skip and never experienced the pink glow your talking about. The ballasts in the old fixtures were buzzing so loud I kept the lights turned off unless really needed but now the peace & quietness of the new electronic ballasts darned near puts me to sleep.

We all post when we have lousy service somewhere Cliff, whether fishing related or not, and I think it's good to give a thumbs up to those places that treat their customers well.

My wife and I go out for dinner every Friday night and try to hit a different place every week. Last night we decided on Montanas down in Peterboro as we've been there before and the place is really nice with good food. Last night I ordered the BBQ chicken and my wife ordered a steak. About 10 minutes after placing the order, the manager came over to me and said there'd been some sorta mix-up in the kitchen and the chickens wouldn't be ready for quite awhile. He was really apologetic and seemed genuinely sorry for what happened and would I like to order something else. I'm a pretty easy going guy and understand that things happen sometimes and told him not to worry about and just bring me a steak instead. The food arrived shortly afterwards and was a good as I'd remembered. After we finished supper they brought the bill and when I looked at it I saw where they hadn't charged me for my steak. I asked the waitress why and she said they were very sorry I couldn't have the chicken I wanted and my steak was on the house. That's great customer service in my books.

I put one in my boat last year Paul strictly as a safety measure and if I never need it, it's still nice to know it's there. It can get pretty lonely up on the West Arm sometimes as you well know. It may help me, or I may be able to help someone else who has a problem so it's a win win.

Not sure what a fishermans top is Pete, but if it doesn't come with clear side curtains your family would definetely appreciate them if a sudden rain or cold winds showed up un-expectedly. Bit of extra loot up front but certainly worth it when the weather goes nasty.....specially for the kids.

Yeah, darned trouble makers

Same thing over this way Cliff, nice & peaceful with about the only noises coming from the critters wandering around. Now if I could just get the locals to put rubber tires and those darned buggies goin down the road past my house it'd be even quieter

Thanks John, I wasn't aware it was gone. It's good though I spose, Scarboro needs another variety store

Jeeez Bruce, your really making me feel old now. When I was in school we were sticking girls pigtails in the ink wells in the corner of our desks.

I'm only a 1/2 mile from there and my wife and I often stop in for something to eat and for me, it's usually their great poutine.

I'm sitting here at 5:00 AM reading this post and the question that keeps coming to mind is why are these people going fishing all the time when they have no jobs and no money Hang up the fishing poles boys and go find a job and start earning money to support your selves. If I didn't have a job or the money to live properly, the last thing I'd be thinking about would be fishing. As for taking money for gas, over the last 10 years I've had about 65 DIFFERENT guys & gals from this board in my boat for a day of fishing and I would NEVER accept money from any of them. Different story if we go away for a few days and there's hotel & restaurant bills to pay, but just for a day, the gas is on me. But it's the same when I fish outta their boat, I don't offer them money for gas either. As for the guys fishing pole, give it back to him, but that's just me.

You talking about the Polish restaurant in Wilno near Bary's Bay ?? If so, they've got some of the best food anywhere and my wife & I make a point of driving up there every couple months for lunch. Nothing fancy, but nice folks and great food !!

When travelling north on fishing trips I always stopped at a little restaurant an hwy 11 near Huntsville and then one year I went there and it had burned down. After that I started going to another one north of Huntsville on hwy 11 right where the 4 lanes narrowed down to 2 lanes and then a couple years back I arrived to find it had been torn down for the hiway construction. Since then I've always stopped at the little diner pictured above because they serve a great breakfast, but with my luck with restaurants in that area I really have my doubts as to it's long range future

Don't know if a stainless would make much difference on a 60 HP Paul, specially enough of a difference to warrant all the extra $$$$

Maybe Aikmens

Very nice story Steve, thanks for that.
