  1. I like to make them less buoyant so when you pause the retrieve the bait will hang where it is rather than popping to the surface. The fish will often hit the Suick as soon as you make the next jerk. Adding additional weights is very simple Cut a groove with a chisel Drop in the weights Cover with 5 minute epoxy and repaint No need to be fussy with the paint cause the muskies don't care what it looks like. Those are small stick-on wheel weights that you can get from any shop that balances wheels.
  2. Suicks are an excellent bait Capt and you can use them pretty anywhere muskies hang out, but their deadly over top of the weeds. Work them real fast with short jerks when the water's warm and when it's cold make them loooong slow pulls with pauses in between. Those big ole slimers can't resist them.
  3. I've been using Power Pro on all my musky rigs for 8 or 9 years now and have never had any issues of any kind whatsoever. It does everything I want it to. My thinking is if it ain't broke don't fix it and I personally see no reason for me to even try anything else.
  4. Enjoy it Mike, I'm just heading out to shovel snow
  5. Why not just take it back to where you bought it originally and have them explain it to you Pete ??
  6. My current boat has a MinnKota charger as that's what came with it from the dealer and sofar it's been good. On another new boat I bought back in '99 I installed a Guest charger and that one has been flawless, even now after 13 years of service and another owner of the boat. If I was to recommend a charger today, or if I was buying another one, it'd definetely be a Guest without question. I've heard negatives about alot of different chargers on the market, but I've never heard a bad word about Guest.
  7. I always have at least 3 rods rigged in the boat. First one has a very large black spinnerbait with orange blades on one rod. Next rod always has a weighted strawberry Sledge Third rod always has a bumblebee colored Double "D" If one of those baits doesn't catch me a musky in the 1st couple hours it means there's no fish in the lake so I go home & have lunch.
  8. Thanks boys, my questions have been answered.
  9. Thanks Bob, this installation was done by one of the largest propane companies in the area so I would imagine it's done to code.
  10. Our kitchen stove runs off propane that is in a tank outside the house. The line comes through the wall and hooks into the stove. The silver flex hose from the stove is on your left and the copper on the right is the supply line from the outside tank. Does anyone know FOR SURE if a compression fitting is used where the supply line connects to the stove, or is it something else ??
  11. Huh ????....what'd I miss
  12. We had new porcelain tile installed in one of the bathrooms last week and we're doing the kitchen & dining room floors next week. Is that romantic enough of a gift ??
  13. Charles nailed it !! Nobody ever said these shows are always gonna save you big $$$$ on gear, but you may find some deals. I know I saved ALOT of money when I purchased my boat there a couple years back, but even if you don't find the bargains it's still a great way to spend a day. Just don't go looking for a bottle of water if your thirsty cause they charge STUPID prices for those.
  14. Ain't that the truth
  15. Sounds like your Dad was a pretty wonderful guy who must have loved you alot the way he was so involved with everything you liked. Talk about him often and think about him always, and you'll have those great memories with you forever.
  16. Really terrible news and so very sad. Condolances to his family.
  17. Maybe I'm the only one, but when I start to read a post and see the pictures all messed up to hide stuff I just close the post and move on to other things. Just my opinion though.
  18. Heard on the Peterboro news earlier today that a pick-up went thru the ice on Chemong up near Curve Lake last night but it sounds like they got out OK.
  19. The big 7000 series Abu's are good for cranking hard pulling baits like Double 10's and larger, burning baits fast and taking up line quick for jerk baits. I've never tried the 7000i Darren but I use a 7000 for the above applications and it works very well although their not the smoothest reels around, but for the money their good. Their big reels with a large power handle but don't take much to getting used to and you'll be happy you bought it.
  20. Best of luck to you Richard.
  21. Whatever's causing this weather, I like it. I was out in the driveway this afternoon and was actually standing in mud, and that's lots better than snow & ice
  22. If anybody is thinking of buying a new troll motor in order to get a longer shaft, it's possible to have the shaft on your present motor extended and it's much cheaper than buying an entire motor. I had a cable steer Motor Guide on my last boat but it was too short for my liking so I took it into Aikmens and he extended it by 12" and charged me $200 and the motor was excellent after that. That was about 12 years ago so I have no idea if they still do it but it's an option that can save a fair bit of money.
  23. My Fortrex is 62" Rob and I've never had any issues with it.
  24. Check out some of the local farms in the area where your looking for storage Dann, I see lots around this area with outdoor spaces for rent.
  25. Thanks Ben, I needed that
