  1. I'll bet we've got members here wondering what the heck a record is
  2. I had a custom Sunbrella cover on my last boat and it's still going strong after a decade of sitting at the dock in the sun. My current boat has a TopGun and it's also excellent. As Will mentioned though, whichever you go with be sure to have air vents sewn into it.
  3. It'll be 5 years this coming Friday that my only brother died from this horrible disease. He posted on this board as eddyk I'll be sending a donation again this year too Ryan.
  4. It's never a waste of money if you have a good day on the water, catching or not. Some of my best days fishing have resulted in skunks. It's all about the fishing, not about the catching
  5. Here's a bit of reading I found on GOOGLE http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=boyd%20island%20housing%20development%2C%20pigeon%20lake%2C%20ontario&source=web&cd=1&sqi=2&ved=0CFcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Foakvillehomes.wordpress.com%2F2010%2F08%2F28%2Fmattamy-looking-at-developing-pigeon-lake%2F&ei=S7SzT4vpMYTa6gH0jtWZAw&usg=AFQjCNGiak0IhuagrVuqKO2baAoauIB_pg
  6. I've told the story here before but I once had follows by 3 different fish over the course of a day but none would take the bait. I went back after dark and retraced my steps and caught all 3 of them. Love it when a plan comes together
  7. You could use pretty well any reel for trolling but if your pulling huge baits there's ALOT of strain put on them. I use TE's myself for casting but use dedicated Tekota 600 linecounters for trolling....proper tool for the job kinda thing. But that's just me.
  8. I'm another one that has been fishing around Big Island for many years and would hate to see it developed. It's kind of like a small oasis in the middle of some busy waters.
  9. That style of bait is often very good Greg as it has an erratic wobble that can be very enticing to a prowling fish.
  10. My own personal choices are Compre or St. Croix musky series rods at least 7'6" and Calcutta TE reels spooled with 80# Power Pro line and 130# Fluoro leaders. You'll probably get many differing opinions though and alot will depend on your budget. Musky fishing can get very expensive.
  11. When you've got an active fish that won't commit like that, come back to the same spot after dark and work big baits slowly over the area and there's an excellent chance you'll get her.
  12. Thanks boyz Doug & Bruce, let's make it happen.
  13. I dunno Larry, I've still got 4 Compres and their incredible rods, but time will tell As for the split grips, that seems to be the way alot of manufacturers are going right now. Supposed to make the rods lighter, but I don't think there's enough difference to be able to tell. All I know is, when I hold this new St. Croix it just feels absolutely perfect in my hands. I'm not one for gimmicks, but I know what I like.
  14. It's definetely a great rod Danbob, good luck with yours.
  15. Good talking to you this morning Mike and we'll definetely get out in the next little while.
  16. I wanted another musky rod for bucktails, bootails and big spinnerbaits and I've been hearing & reading alot of good stuff about St. Croix's Legend Tournament musky series. I wanted the one piece 8' MHF so I called Gagnons in Oshawa and sure enough they had them in stock so the Mrs. and I took a drive down this morning for a 1st hand look and I hafta tell ya, it is one very sweet fishin pole and I think it's well worth the $255 It's gonna be paired up with a Calcutta 400TE and is without a doubt, the nicest feeling musky outfit I've ever had and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do very well with it. Here's a couple pics Looking forward to getting it slimed in a couple weeks.
  17. The local station down the road from me has been $121.9 all week. Not real good but better than awhile ago. I had to go down to Oshawa this morning and saw gas on the 115 for as much as $129.9. It's amazing how 30 odd miles can make such a difference in prices but I'm sure the oil companies have an excuse for it.
  18. We've got 5 of them Norm and their fantastic. I don't watch too much of the regular programming but for anything with alot of scenery or outdoors type of things they really are worth the extra $$$$
  19. Great collection of bear pictures there guys, thanks for posting them.
  20. Congrats on the new boat, it appears to have been well maintained.
  21. Ya, but now the wife will want me to do twice as much work with it That's fantastic Cliff, thanks alot, I'll see you tomorrow at 5:30
  22. But just so everyone knows, it came from the dealer that way, it wasn't my screw-up  See you tomorrow evening Cliff
  23. I don't watch alot of TV but 2 years ago there was something coming on that I wanted to see but a heavy wet snowfall had covered my satellite dish & blocked the signal. I went out on the back deck and made a couple snowballs and tossed them at the dish and after a couple tries I made a direct hit, the snow slid off and I got to see my program Maybe there's still a chance for me in the majors
  24. I used to call my Mom several times a day Wayne, just to shoot the breeze and make sure everything was OK. Three years later now and I still find myself reaching for the phone to give her a call sometimes.
  25. That was really nice Simon, thanks for sharing it with us. My Mom's been gone 3 years now but she's still with me every day. Mom's are special !! And it was good meting you & your son today too Simon.
