  1. Fill up the gas tanks, crank the boat wide open and enjoy your trips on the water boys, we only go this route one time. I spent too many years working my butt off to worry about saving a few $$$$ in my boat.
  2. Only if I get 1/2
  3. Couple months back I posted about my daughter entering a radio contest and winning an all inclusive one week trip for 2 to the Bahamas. They went last month and had a ball. She recently entered another radio contest and has won again. This time it's an another all inclusive trip for 2 and now she's off to Los Angeles. They get airfare, limo service, hotels and all meals, plus $500 cash. While there they take in the seasons final taping of The Big Bang Theory and then go back stage to meet the cast of the show. I think I better get that girl to start buying me some lottery tickets
  4. That could definetely qualify as a BRUTE Dave. Nice big fish for sure !!
  5. Line-X is good stuff and I also have it in the bed of my truck. I've seen full trailers done with it and it actually doesn't look too bad but I'm not sure if I'd want it myself but thanks for the suggestion.
  6. This product looks like what I'm after and the price seems pretty good too, specially compared to what I was quoted last year for something similar. I also like the Towtector and it's something I've considered. Thanks again everyone.
  7. OK thanks guys, some really good suggetions there. I looked into that clear plastic covering last year and was told by a local dealer that it would cost me about $300 for a bit to do my trailer. Time to make some phone calls.
  8. I live on a dirt road and even with mud flaps on my truck I still manage to get the odd stone chip on my boat trailer. I was thinking of maybe spraying some type of clear coat on the vulnerable trailer surfaces but not sure if it'd work or not. Anybody know of a product that may give some protection ?? I know about the shields that can be mounted in front of the rig but I'm not interested in those.
  9. I've seen that video before and it's a terrible thing to watch. Only takes 1 second for bad crap to happen.
  10. Amazing video Jon, thanks for showing them. My wife and some of her girlfriends are leaving in a couple weeks for a 2 week cruise to Hawaii and I sure hope she gets to see something like that.
  11. The list of very happy customers continues to grow. Impressive work as always Chris !!
  12. Looks really nice Bernie. Ya can't beat fishing under a good top on a stormy day.
  13. A week ago we were basking in 75 degree sunshine and talkin about the flowers blooming and the buds coming out on the trees. I'm looking out my window right now and it's starting to snow. Only in Canada
  14. I'd take Raf's suggestion and go with the C-3. The C-4 is a higher gear ratio and it makes it tougher to crank in harder pulling baits such as big bladed spinnerbaits or bucktails. The C-3 is a bare bones reel but if your only gonna be fishing musky a couple times a year it'll work well for you.
  15. 10 years from now we'll be looking at an "old" picture of a gas station from way back in 2012 and remembering the good old days when we were only paying $1.50
  16. Anybody with a tandem axle trailer knows it's just about impossible to turn it when your pushing it by hand, specially when the boat is still on it. I read on another forum about how putting plastic bags under each wheel makes it easy to turn so I thought I'd give it a try today. I put 4 bags on the floor, one behind each wheel, and then pushed the boat back so each wheel was sitting on a bag. I then went up to the tongue, turned the bogey wheel and then pushed the trailer tongue to the side and the trailer turned so easy I couldn't believe it. It would come in really handy for anyone who has to man handle their tandem trailer & boat around in tight places. Just thought I'd pass this little tid-bit on to anyone who may be interested.
  17. One tactic we change for night time muskies Ric is fishing very shallow for them, infact sometimes in as little a 1-2 FOW. As I mentioned in the other thread alot of our old time spots are no longer available because of the weed growth but anywhere you can find shallow water with a sand bottom with some weeds mixed in you have a good shot at them. If there's deep water close by it's even better. Like Mike & Raf both said, a slow steady retrieve works best. Interestingly, we also get alot of nice incidental bass on large musky sized baits late at night, both large & smallmouth depending on the location. I no longer take pictures of bass but here's a couple old ones that show that their also feeding and aggressive after dark for any bass guys that may be wondering and might want to try them at night.
  18. Congrats on the new rig RG, she sounds like a real beaut. I also bought my boat from Hastings and they are indeed some good folks to deal with. Don't worry about that 4 stroke Yammie, your gonna be more than impressed with it.
  19. Was he on the road when you it him Ernie or in the air ?? There's all kinds of them over here and I see them everyday and just this morning going into town 4 ran across the road in front of me. Awhile back though I had one fly across the road right in front of me 4' above the road. I was doing about 80K and didn't miss him by 20' and if I'd been about 1 second sooner he'd have come right into my windshield. It'd be like hitting a brick that was thrown off a bridge.
  20. Just pick a date and we'll do it Bill.
  21. I've always enjoyed fishing for muskies after dark and a favorite location is pencil reeds in shallow water with a sandy bottom and even better if there's deep water close by. We go in after dark and work our way thru the reeds casting slow rolled spinnerbaits and can often grab 3 or 4 nice muskies in a night. After the zebras moved in and the water began to clear, weeds started to grow in places we never had them before and began encroaching on the pencil reeds. The weeds have now become so thick in many of the areas we used to go that we can no longer even get our boats into the spots anymore, infact on some of the reed beds we can't get within 100' now. Some of these spots I've been fishing for 40 years and they were always weed free, but the last 10 years or so has seen a huge change in weed growth. The only thing I put it down to is the clear water, caused by zebra muscles, is allowing more sunlight to penetrate the water and is helping to promote the heavy growth. I may be totally off in my reasoning though. I kinda miss those nights...
  22. Enjoying a nice feed of smelts is something I haven't done for a very long time. Catching them, followed by a huge fishfry afterwards was a springtime ritual for many years down on the Toronto waterfront. Thanks for the memories Nipfisher, your supper looks great !!
  23. Been a long time for sure Ric, good to have you back.
  24. On my last boat, a Crestliner, the fuel tank was under the rear casting deck and I had to remove that to access the sending unit. Not really a big deal though as it's just held in place with screws. You may find the same thing on your G3.
  25. Too late Rob and I think three 7/0 trebles would work just fine The little guy gets cuter everyday Joey
