If it takes someone 1000 casts to catch a musky, they need to either change locations or take up bowling.

My daughter and I will be fishing Upper Buck and maybe Pigeon too. Good luck to everyone.

Me thinks Ralphie is gonna be one spoiled pooch

Really surprised to hear that Steve, the TE is by far the sweetest musky reel I've ever used. Hopefully they'll come out with something as good if the story is true.

Back when I used to do some bass fishing I tried Fireline on one of my baitcasters and found it would break very easily. Can't remember now what test I was using but whatever it was it didn't stand up the way it should have. I only used it for maybe a month or so then discarded it and went back to Power Pro. That's a few years ago now and I'm sure things have improved since then, but I never gave it a 2nd chance.

My dad introduced me to fishing waaaaay back around 1950 and I've been an avid angler ever since. Infact everyone in my family were anglers and we always had boats my entire life and I couldn't even to begin to know how many fishing trips we took. Thing is though, taking pictures of fish was never a priority and was only reserved for an exceptional fish. I fished Quinte for decades but don't think I ever took a picture of a pickeral. I joined this board about 10 years ago and noticed how everyone was interested in pictures so I posted the few I had of muskies. After that I got a 1/2 decent camera and started taking pictures to post and continued like that for a few years. Thing is though, one fish looks just like all the rest and again I lost interest in taking them and only took the odd pic of a bigger fish. I took some pics last year of a couple decent muskies I caught on Nip and posted them for my 1st fishing report in about 3 years. I still fish lots although not as much as a few years ago, but taking pictures is low on my to-do list. I'm sure many guys who have been fishing as long as me feel the same and perhaps that's why you don't always see alot of pictures from some members.

Good job on the cleanup Dutch and thanks, I'm only a couple miles from there & travel that road regularly. But isn't it sad that we actually have to clean up after some of the filthy pigs we're forced to share this planet with. I never could understand how anyone could throw their garbage anywhere but in a garbage can.

The foot pedals on those Power Drive units have been causing grief for years, although I don't know if it's still happening on the newer models or not. Most of the problems were coming from the circuit board inside the pedal. Maybe a place you can start from anyways...good luck. -
By 4:30 I'm already thinking about lunch

Thanks Roy, I was just making the point that alot of folks use these boards strictly for their own personal gain with no intention of joining the "community" or giving anything back. At least that's the way it's always seemed to me.

Thanks johnny, that made for a great early morning read. Awesome trip from the sounds of it !!

Good luck today Mike, hope you nail a couple bigguns.

Doesn't really matter to me one way or the other whether folks are members or not. If they want free info they can still get it. Sorta like the rule we have here where you must have 25 posts under your belt before you can advertise in the classifieds. Guys just register, then reply to 25 posts in short order and post their stuff for sale and then they never post again. Or what about the guys who are only here for their own self promotion ?? They never join a conversation, never post reports, never reply to anything, infact some almost never even come into the main forum page, they just sit in the background promoting themselves. Some things there's just not much you can do about other than accept it and go about your own business.

$5000 sounds better to me.

Another option may be storing the boat and trailer at a farm in the area you normally like to fish. Farms all over the place have signs advertising outdoor storage and it would be far cheaper than a marina and may be somewhat more secure also just for the fact that there's normally someone living there. Until just 3 years ago I stored my boat INSIDE a barn all winter long for only $150 a YEAR. Just something else to think about.

My neighbor keeps his 15' boat with 25 HP motor docked at a marina at Burliegh Falls for $600 a season just to give an idea of price, although I don't know if the price is typical or not.

Nice one Larry, what an incredible looking fish !!

Nope, that's just an empty box, there's no food or food scraps anywhere outside the house and even the BBQ is cleaned on a regular basis. It's just an area where the critters like to hang out and I'm happy to have them.

My sentiments exactly Twocota !! I've got deer in the backyard... Deer in the front yard... Even have horse & buggies going down the road in front of the house... There's Bald Eagles in the area, I see turkeys pretty well everyday and we have Pileated WoodPeckers everywhere. I've always been an animal lover and if Mr. Bruin wants to hang around my yard, well then there's room for him too. I'll give him all the space he wants and hopefully he'll do the same for me.

At least my wife isn't afraid of bears, not even the grizzly kind
-
The mnr trapped a bear just up the road from me last year and relocated it, but I heard on the TV recentely that they now kill them rather than remove them. I'm not a hunter myself and would rather not see them being killed, but if they become too much of a nuisance or a danger, I spose they may not have much of a choice...unfortunately.

Bears certainly aren't unusual around here and I often see signs of them and have had bear poop in the yard several times and so have the neighbors. As mentioned above they've been quite active at night lately and just last week I had one tear down the bird feeder on my front lawn...that has since been removed. Just never had them active in the middle of the day. My wife and some of the neighbors go for walks along the road everyday and carry small airhorns just incase. I think one of the ladies also carries a can of bear spray too. And Brian, maybe I shouldn't be throwing the T-bones over the back fence anymore when I'm through with them ??

I just walked out on the back deck a few minutes ago to find a bear walking across the back yard about 100' from the house. He came from the woods behind my place, walked about 100' along the tree line and then headed back into the woods again as soon as he saw me. He appeared to be about 30" at the shoulder so I'm guessing not fully grown yet. We've had a lot of bear activity around here the last couple weeks but always through the night. I'm no bear expert but isn't it kind of unusual to have bears wandering around in the middle of the day so close to homes ??
