  1. And they were about as sensitive as a shovel too Paul
  2. Good to hear you got the problem solved Roger.
  3. Looking forward to spending time with you & Patsy again Rich. See you guys in a couple weeks.
  4. Well, we've had a change in plans and my wife and I have decided to go up for a week in June and will be there June 16-23 and we'll be in cabin W-1 right by the boat ramp. It just wouldn't seem like June if I didn't spend time at Lakair
  5. Bucktails are excellent all year long, clip one on and go have a blast.
  6. Thanks Randy, sounds like maybe an excellent season coming up.
  7. He's turning out to be a great little pup there Brian and you guys are gonna be buds for a long time to come. They never grow up Joey. Marvin's going on 16 and he wears me out every day just trying to keep up with him
  8. Early in the season I like pencil reeds, sand and shallow water. And yes, smaller baits are often the ticket in the springtime. My most productive day ever was opening day, 2001 when I hit the water at 7:30 a.m. and got the 1st fish of the season on the 1st cast of the season and by 10:00 a.m. I'd boated 9 muskies. All fish came from the reeds and none were caught in more than 4 FOW Some days a plan just comes together.
  9. Your absolutely right Gerry. I'm smack dab in the middle of a whole bunch of fantastic lakes here, yet I like to travel to big fish waters regularily and it's only about 4 hours east to the Ottawa and St. Lawrence Rivers, west to LSC and north to my favorite place in the world, the West Arm of Nip Life is good
  10. Thanks boyzs !!
  11. Can someone please tell me when musky opens on the West Arm of Nipissing. I'm thinking the 4th Saturday in June but my old brain is getting foggy ??
  12. Actually, no they weren't as good back then, infact I learned to fish in the 50's with a square shafted steel rod that was heavy and had the same action as a tree stump. And we only had very basic baitcast reels cause spinning reels weren't around yet and the line we used could have doubled to tie up battleships. Biggest change though is we only fished with ONE rod, and we fished for ALL species with it and did VERY well with those old dinosaurs. Fishing has almost gotten too technical these days where guys need a different rod for every technique. Fishing is still enjoyable...but it's different now.
  13. You know me Pete, I would have settled on the West Arm of Nipissing but Diane wanted the K-Lakes region and a happy wife makes a happy life. But it's not too bad here either
  14. Marvin has always hated the the loud bangs of fireworks too Joey and would hide under the bed, but his hearing is pretty well gone now. We were out on the front porch Saturday night watching some fireworks down the road and he never even flinched.
  15. That's what it's all about right there Bruce.
  16. Not sure how they'd work with dual exhausts Rick. My truck is an F-150 and I've got the flaps set up so they stick out about 4" past each wheel and that leaves about 16" either side of the hitch. If your pipes are close to the center it'd work but if their more to the outside it could be a problem I spose.
  17. Their at least 1/4" and very sturdy and I doubt if flapping in the wind will be a concern with these. Their 24 x 24 and easily cut to the proper length. Here's a link to them in Cabellas http://www.cabelas.com/product/Auto-ATV/Auto-Exterior/Mudflaps-Tire-Chains%7C/pc/104796180/c/104696280/sc/104460480/Rock-Tamer-Mud-Flaps/716361.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fauto-atv-auto-exterior-mudflaps-tire-chains%2F_%2FN-1100779%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104460480%3FWTz_l%3DUnknown%253Bcat104696280&WTz_l=Unknown%3Bcat104696280%3Bcat104460480
  18. Sorry Roy, I think I misunderstood you.
  19. Good stuff Roy, we're there August 4-18
  20. I ordered these Rock Tamer mud flaps from Cabellas and got them installed on the truck yesterday. Pretty good service from Cabellas too as I had them 4 days after they were shipped out. Pretty slick set up where the main bracket slides over the 2" draw bar on the hitch, then adjustable arms come out either side to hold the flaps wherever you want them depending on the width of your truck. They can also be raised or lowered depending on the weight being carried in the truck. When you don't need the flaps, just remove the draw bar and the whole package comes off. Should work well to keep alot of rocks & road junk from hitting the boat & trailer.
  21. I'm in for that Pete.
  22. Fun stuff guys, great way to spend a Saturday
  23. I hate to admit it, but it almost seems like our annual trip may be petering out.
  24. Yeah, you'll miss some fish with jerkbaits, just like with any other bait, but just keep the same action going all the way back to the boat and there's every chance the fish will make another grab for it. She liked the action enough the 1st time to swipe at it, so give her another chance. Just don't be in too much of a hurry to set the hook when the fish grabs it, instead wait until you actually feel the weight of it. Too often guys will see the fish hit and actually pull the bait away from her before it's even in her mouth. Jerkbaits are awesome for muskies and I probably get at least a 1/3 of my fish that way.
  25. Fishing Quinte in May we always do well trolling after dark Dan. Minnowbaits trolled in 8-10 FOW water over mud flats.
