If your thinking of buying a new GM pickup, here's an advanced look at the 2014 model. http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&key=d07f38b22ba9683897d6fe7173d761a4&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.f150forum.com%2Ff2%2Fugh-2014-silverado-184904%2F&v=1&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.f150forum.com%2Ff2%2F&libid=1355436227888&out=http%3A%2F%2Fblogs.automotive.com%2F2014-chevrolet-silverado-gmc-sierra-make-official-world-debut-121769.html%23axzz2Ey7U2p5R&title=Ugh%2C%202014%20Silverado%20-%20Ford%20F150%20Forum%20-%20Community%20of%20Ford%20Truck%20Fans&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fblogs.automotive.com%2F2014-che...%23axzz2Ey7U2p5R&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13554362904136

I always enjoyed your winter fishing tales Eric and it's a shame you can't get out there anymore, but you've sure got alot of good time memories. I remember one big chunky pike you got out there a few years back but you didn't put the picture up this time.
-
I haven't read the book, but the reason Musky Hunter is the ONLY fishing show I watch is because it's not a SPAM fest like all the rest of them. His TV show is excellent so I'd assume his book will be great also.
-
Sounds like you guys could use this
-
That's great Joe, always nice to see the critters around.
-
I've got a KeelGuard on my boat and it's excellent. I put my boat right on top of a truck sized rock on Nippissing last summer and not only did it protect my boat, there's not even a scuff on the guard. I'd definetely recommend it to anyone with a glass boat that fishes in rocky areas.
-
You drove right past my place and the coffee pot's always on.
-
How does an interesting post about winter tires turn into American politics ??
-
As long as it's still gonna be legal to catch & release those big ole Nippissing muskies, I'm good !!
-
Your right Ernie, but sadly too many folks will never aquire common sense and will continue to kill innocent folks on winter roads. And I don't care what anybody says, winter tires in good condition are FAR better in snow than non-winter tires...no matter how good you think you are behind the wheel.
-
My concern would be making the rig unstable if you go narrower than what the manufacturer has set up. The closer the wheels are together, the more top heavy it'll become.
-
No we haven't, at least not me Well done boyz, a couple very nice fish you got there !!
-
I'd definetely say yes, get yourself a boat of your own. It's always better to have your own stuff rather than depending on somebody else to supply it for you.
-
I'd hit those good spots Mike and start big & slow and see what happens. You don't always need real big in cold water but it's a good starting point. Change things up and see what pattern you come up with. And if I hadn't left my Christmas shopping so darned late I'd come join you

Same stuff over this way Shaun, some light snow last evening and now it's been raining & freezing for a couple hours and everything has a coat of ice on it. My daughter came up for the weekend and has to leave for Missisauga in 90 minutes, so I sure hope the salt trucks are out doing their thing.

Two years ago we were having a group of friends over for an evening and 8" of snow fell that day. I'm a mile and a half down at the end of a dirt road and my bud was driving a 4x4 Jeep with winter tires and he couldn't make it thru the snow and I had to go out and get him. A lady friend of ours had all seasons on and made it thru the snow with just a little trouble. It's good to be properly equipped for winter driving, but you also have to know how to drive.
-
I'm another one that always uses dedicated winter tires and rims. There's nothing worse than having your vehicle all set up for winter driving and then being stuck in traffic behind guys who are too cheap to properly equip their own vehicle for the nasty weather and are slipping & sliding on their all seasons. The problem with making winter tires mandatory though, is lotsa folks just leave the car in the garage when the roads are bad and only bring it back out when things clear up. When my folks got up in years and it wasn't necessary for them to go out on nasty days they just stayed home and waited till things were cleaned up. Winter tires/wheels are expensive and it's tough to force them on folks who don't drive when conditions are bad...at least that's the way I look at it.

Twice in the last couple weeks I've heard the weather dood on Global saying this winter will be quite cold with plenty of snow for our little corner of the world. Then last week I saw David Philips on the TV saying he expects another rather mild winter for Ontario. These forecasters are always good for a chuckle.

I saw the title of your post Mike and the 1st thing I thought of was that I don't remember selling you anything

Good stuff Mike, some nice fish there !!

Before you quit smoking you have to be absolutely committed to quitting and if your not, you'll never be successful. Tell yourself your not gonna smoke again and then don't...COLD TURKEY. I think all the books and patches and whatever else are just crutches, sorta like trying to teach a kid to swim with water wings on his arms. I was addicted to those filthy stinkin things for 30 years but have been free for 22 years now. Back in the early days of my fire fighting career we didn't always use masks to go into burning buildings, but would often just go in holding our breath and stay as long as we could or else smash a window out to get some air then get back to work. After the fire was out we'd come outside gagging, coughing and puking and the 1st thing we'd do was light up a cigarette. Seemed normal back then but it just shows how much of an addiction those things really are. Toss the smokes away Rich and start enjoying life without them, it's not nearly as tough as you may think....as long as you REALLY want to quit.

The Kahunas are nice nets, but as mentioned by Mike earlier they can be a brute to use one handed when your fishing alone.
-
I'm the same as Mike, I always preferred the Frabil frames but found the Beckman pen bags much better. I purchased the Beckman bag & put it on my Frabil frame and it make the best all-round musky net I've used. The old Frabil bag And the new flat bottomed Beckman pen net on the Frabil frame. It's always good when you have the best of both worlds !!

Then I spose your $$$$ huge, top-o-the-line, 10" gps/sonar unit sitting on your consol is just a cardboard replica eh Pete ??
