  1. I've been fishing for about 60 years. I have an expensive boat and I tow it with an even more expensive truck. I use very good rods & reels and my favorite combo is worth $700. Most of my musky baits are fairly expensive and I have some worth $100 I don't buy anything cheap. I catch alot of fish. If that makes me an armchair expert, so be it. Is there anything wrong with that ??
  2. Atta boy Larry !!
  3. So very sorry to hear about your wife Bob. It's been obvious over the years how close you two were and I'm sure she'll be missed by all who loved her. My condolances.
  4. If it's on the internet Bill, it MUST be true
  5. At lest 4 times Roy, hope she's getting some kind of royalties
  6. That's great Mike, but he'll be happier when you buy that full windshield boat
  7. C'mon springtime
  8. Happened to my son when he went away for a weekend and the hot water line from the water heater split. Don't know how long it sprayed hot water into the place but it was enough that most of the plaster came off the walls plus all the carpets were destroyed. Damage was over $30,000 and they were out of the house for a month while repairs were made.
  9. I don't really worry about the limits too much as I don't keep many fish, just a few big muskies each year for the BBQ spit
  10. Even old doods have to pay for SOME things
  11. Government says I'm an old dood now and let's me fish for free
  12. That sounds like an offer Skip
  13. Lotsa helpful info there Disco !!
  14. Yup, been doing it for years, front, center & rear. Don't know if it's necessary or not but I always do it.
  15. OK, the Crestliner was 87" (I think) so I spose that 3 extra inches was enough to bump it up from 75 to 90 HP Good luck with whatever kicker you decide on.
  16. What's the boat rated for, I had a 1650 Crestliner rated for a 90 Not much difference in the length between a 1625 & 1650 but could be plenty in depth & width.
  17. And the reason I prefer fishing from my boat, MILES from the nearest stream
  18. Absolutely outstanding Dan !!!!
  19. That'd be the C-4 Mike, it's a higher gear ratio than the C-3
  20. That's fantastic news SBK !!
  21. Musky season ends in a month, why not just keep using whatever your using now and then you'll have 6 months to save some money and have more time to figure out what combo you want. No sense hurrying right now when you don't even know what your after. Keep an eye on the classified section for this board and you'll see plenty of good musky gear for sale over the next few months.
  22. If you were to use that combo for awhile, you'd realise it's worth every penny of the $700
  23. I use several different combos for varying applications, but the one I use the most, for bucktails and spinnerbaits, is an 8' medium heavy St. Croix Legend Tournament (split grip) with a 400 series Calcutta TE and 80# PP After 4 decades of casting for muskies, this is by far the sweetest combo I have ever come across.
  24. Congrats on finally getting your 1st musky, you've worked hard for her and you deserve it. You got her in a very productive spot that holds alot of fish and you'll get many more from that same place.
  25. I just got home from the Remembrance Day Ceremonny in Peterboro and as always, it was exceptional. It was great to see so many folks, young, old and everywhere in between attending and it seems every year, there's less veterans, but more civilians there. It's a day for all Canadians to extremely proud.
