  1. Thanks folks, we're very happy now that we decided to change it all. And Stan, no I didn't do it myself, but had it installed by the same company I purchased the stone from. They did the whole job in 2 days and really did an excellent job.
  2. I have a wood burning stove downstairs in the family room and a wood burning fireplace upstairs in the living room. Never really liked the one in the living room though and decided to switch it over to a propane insert. Here's the old And this is the new insert. Next I wanted to upgrade the brick so we decided to go with a multi-coloured Legerstone. The stonework was finished yesterday and we spent today getting the room all put back together and we're both very pleased with the way it turned out. Just thought I'd post the pictures incase anyone is interested in this kind of stuff.
  3. There ain't no such thing
  4. Thanks for the tale Stan, sounds like a fun family outing !!
  5. Nobody puts on a show like Mother nature, truly impressive !!
  6. My brother was involved in a very bad accident many years ago on the 400 and I think it was in the 89 area. Him and his buds were coming south on 400 after a weekend of snowmobiling and got enveloped in a massive whiteout. It wasn't visible because of the heavy blowing snow, but just ahead of them a flatbed tractor trailer loaded with lumber had collided with a couple cars and caught fire. From the vehicle my brother was in, they suddenly saw the orange glow ahead and slowed right down but a hiway bus flew past them and crashed into all the other vehicles. Other cars began crashing into the burning wreckage and something like 7 people died with many more injured. The driver of my brothers car saw the fire in time and drove into the ditch just in time to avoid it. Another car hit the wreckage and caught fire and the driver burned to death about 20' from my brother but there was nothing they could do to help the poor guy. My brother carried that image with him for the rest of his life.
  7. Perhaps his cell phone works thru his GPS, alot of the portable units are that way.
  8. A friend was driving to work one morning and when she stopped at a red light, her car stalled. She couldn't get it started again and the guy behind her started blasting his horn at her and wouldn't let up. After a minute or so of that nonsence, she took the keys out of the ignition, walked back to the doofus behind her, opened his door and said "here's my keys, would you please go and start my car for me and I'll blow your horn for you" He felt like such an idiot, he backed up and went around her like a scared dog with his tail between his legs. Guys like that is something you don't need to see on your way to work.
  9. Sheeesh, by 5:30 I'm thinking about lunch
  10. Much better to have too many guys and not need them, than to need another crew right away but there 20 minutes away cause they weren't dispatched.
  11. My sentiments exactly.
  12. The only spinnerbaits I use are large, mostly in the 2 3/4 oz. range, and they all have the closed eye.
  13. The $5400 fine levied against the fisherman for getting turned around in the fog is a discusting, pathetic money grab and whoever came up with it should be ashamed of himself. As for volunteer firemen being paid, my brother used to be a volunteer in Scugog Township 25 odd years ago and and if I remember correctly, received around $3000 per year, but I may be wrong on the amount.
  14. Excellent Pete, your off to a good start !!
  15. Bald Eagles are common in some parts of Ontario but rare in other parts Dan, so sometimes seeing them is a big deal. Don't really think comments such as "Ho hum" are really called for, specially from a moderator, when someone takes the time to share something with the members.
  16. Saw that earlier today TJ...hilarious !!!
  17. I drove a 90 HP Merc 4 stroke for 9 years, then sold it to a bud who's had it for 4 years now. To this day it's never had a single issue and runs as good as the day it was originally purchased. Regular maintanance and a bit of TLC and they'll go forever. Great motors.
  18. It was -23 here before sunrise this morning Simon, almost seems like spring has arrived compared to what you've got up your way
  19. Took me 2 coffee's to get thru that trip MB, but it was well worth it. Thanks for taking us along !!
  20. Any chance the circuit breaker for the heat line has popped, Ernie ??
  21. Pretty slick set-up !!
  22. Didn't we have this exact same discussion, almost word for word, only a month ago ??
  23. On my screen, the word "search" is barely visible in the box and I didn't know where it was either until I just went looking for it after reading this post. Everything else is very visible on the pages, except for that one word so perhaps that's what the problem is.
  24. I'm well aware of that Bruce, I've been driving boats for a very long time.
  25. Once you locate it Cliff, lemme know if you need a hand to retrieve it and I'll come over.
