  1. Muskies are the only species I target and once the season closes mid-December, so does my interest in fishing. I occupy my time with other interests during the winter and get back into fishing mode when the season re-opens in early June. My gear is always in good shape before it goes into hibernation and when spring arrives, everything, including me, is ready for the soft water. I have zero interest in ice fishing and even though I visit this & many other fishing sites thru the cold months, I seldom if ever read the ice fishing reports. Really enjoy alot of the NF topics though
  2. Congratulations Mike, you write some great stuff !!
  3. He's buried pretty deep in the bushes so he musta been going fairly fast, lucky they weren't tossed outta the boat.
  4. Dagnabit, my tinfoil hats at the cleaners
  5. Just to clarify, I don't fish for pike and wasn't targetting them when that little guy hit
  6. Pike are insane, specially the little dink snot rockets, and there's no such thing as a musky bait that's too big for them to try and inhale
  7. I've obviously missed something Mike, are you now having your fishing tales printed in a magazine ??
  8. That's a great set-up you've got there TJ, love the way you've kept it "old school" And in keeping with the theme of this thread, I just ate a big mess of French Toast with maple syrup
  9. Great catch and congrats on the PB !!
  10. I also had a few issues when I 1st switched over to the new format a month ago, but now that I've got it figured out for the most part, I actually like it better than the old version, and find it quite easy to use.
  11. All the best to ya young feller !!
  12. The place is looking good Gerritt, your doing some excellent work !! That darker wood detail at the front entrance really sets it off nicely.
  13. No remote trips planned, but will be doing my usual few weeks on the West Arm of Nippissing thru the summer, then the end of September or early October will be an annual trip to the St. Lawrence and later in the fall is another yearly trip to LSC. All trips will be strictly muskies.
  14. Those years will just fly by ....in about 4 decades
  15. Ain't that the truth
  16. I'd imagine a moose would agree with you Remo
  17. Excellent job on the box !! The muskies don't care if your gear is fancy or not.
  18. That's a great video TJ, thanks for posting that.
  19. Looks good Mike, I like it !!
  20. Yeah, it was nice to see that owl as there doesn't appear to be many around this area. He actually sat in the tree and watched me as I walked up to within 50' of him to take the last picture.
  21. Good news to hear there's some positive improvements.
  22. I looked out the kitchen window 15 minutes ago to see a big ole owl sitting in the tree just above where those deer pictures were taken. Don't see too many owls so it's always good when one shows up....to me anyways
  23. I lost a Shimao V-rod and Curado reel over the side 10 years ago. I hooked on a large "5 of Diamond" spoon and was dragging that around the bottom trying to snag it. Never got the rod & reel back but caught a 4 pound pickeral on the spoon instead.
  24. You got that 100% correct George
  25. Thanks folks, glad you enjoyed the pictures and thanks for adding some more pictures too Bill & Dan. We've got a vegetable garden at the back of the yard Brian, right at the edge of the woods, and have never had a problem with critters, not even rabbits. Actually, once the snow is gone so are the deer and we almost never see them during the summer, but when the snow returns in December, so do the deer.
