  1. Lots of water flowing through the Trent System now and it could cause even more problems as it increases down stream. I took these at Burleigh Falls earlier today And this is the old bridge and lock at Youngs Point with parts of it completely under water.
  2. I remember back to my Navy days in the 60's and we used to toss most of our garbage into the ocean everyday. Food scraps would become fish food and I'm sure the salt water took care of tin cans and whatever, but I honestly don't remember if we tossed paper & plastics overboard. And if my old mind remembers correctly, I seem to recall barges hauling alot Halifax's garbage out to sea to be dumped overboard.
  3. Last summer I payed somewhere around $0.75 per litre for propane, then as the temps dropped the prices rose and I paid $1.10 by January and then they started to drop and last week I paid $0.79 Now that the NG suppliers have received the go ahead to raise prices 40% I imagine it's only a matter of time before propane sky rockets again and stays high.
  4. I was at the Youngs Point locks an hour ago and the water is completely over top of the concrete pier where you tie up the boats while waiting to lock through. Some of the cottages downstream now have water right up almost to their doorsteps and I can only guess it'll get worse before it gets better. Gonna be plenty of water heading down to Rice Lake yet. The northern half of Clear Lake now has lots of open water .
  5. Last week our prices jumped overnight from $1.19 to $1.27 and I was out this morning and see it's now up to $1.32 so it's easy to see their setting us up for the long weekend gouging.
  6. I caught a bit on the news this morning about some study suggesting that Toronto City councilors should get a huge raise....I think they said $13,000....to bring them up to where they should be. Unfortunately I wasn't paying attention till it was too late.
  7. Heavy wet snow coming down up my way and I just saw a couple robins heading south with their suitcases.
  8. My hitch only comes out a couple times a year to clean it up. I figure if someone is walking close enough to my truck to whack their shin on it, their too darned close to my truck anyways. LOL
  9. Yeah, it's been a crazy year for weather for sure. We're sposed to be getting a sky-light installed tomorrow but that may be put off for a day or 2
  10. We got down to $1.19 last week then overnight it jumped to $1.27 where it's been for several days now. Funny how gas never DROPS 8 cents over night.
  11. Just curious as the what you call a fair price to launch Dave. The private launches I use around the Kawarthas are $15 total in & out including parking for the day and I always thought that was decent, specially if they have a well maintained ramp & docks.
  12. Nice catch, seems like every day gets better for you.
  13. Congratulations on your new best buddy. Really sweet looking pup.
  14. Fantastic LOL
  15. Always great to read about the kids enjoying the outdoors !!
  16. Barns are a great place to store toys Terry, I used one for my boat for about 9 years. If you do go that route though, just be sure you'll be able to get your stuff out when you want it. I knew the other guys who shared the barn with me so it was never an issue, but if your things are blocked by others you could have a problem. Just something to think about.
  17. If I thought I needed a gun to keep me safe while fishing, I'd give up fishing.
  18. I love living at the far end of a dirt road cause I haven't seen any door to door yahoo's since I've been here, other than the jehovas doods my 1st summer here. After I finished telling them exactly what I thought of them and their religion, they never came back.
  19. Love it hahaha
  20. Perfect ice MELTING weather

  25. Welcome Brian and you've picked a beautiful part of Ontario for your vacation. I've never fished Northwest Bay but have been fishing muskies in West Bay...a few miles south of you...for the last 10 years and I'd assume it's somewhat similar. Personally, I like to cast but alot of the guys are trollers and also do well, so you should spend time both ways and see what works best for you. In my own personal experience, I've had the best luck casting large bucks & spinners in open water well away from any structure....strange as that seems. The cabbage weed will be in full bloom by the time you arrive and that's where you'll find the fish, usually. I see most fish in the 8-9 foot depths and usually their up near the surface and often hit the bait as soon as it lands. Be sure to figure 8 after EVERY cast too and that'll definitely put a couple more fish in your boats. My #1 bait is a very large black & orange spinnerbait but usually anything big & bright will work. You won't get big numbers of fish up there but the ones you catch will normally be good ones at least in the high 40's or low 50's with excellent chances of much bigger. The musky in my avatar came from there and is an average size. I'll be up there the last week of June and again the 1st two weeks of August and will probably be driving past West Nipissing Resort the morning you guys are leaving for home. Good luck and have a great vacation, and if you get into a good fish, please show us a picture.
