  1. BBQ's clean Brian but I hear ya.
  2. He was here in the yard again about 20 minutes ago, so he's getting a bit too brave now. I don't mind them at night but broad daylight can be an issue.
  3. He was big, and fast too, took off like a scared deer once he realized I was there.
  4. I went out onto the back deck about 6 this morning just to look around and found a big ole black bear snoozing in the back yard. I keep the camera right by the door so I got a couple pics before he took off. It was overcast and still somewhat dark out and he was about 150 feet away so I really had to enhance the pics to make him visible so the pics aren't too clear. There's plenty of bears around here and I've had them in the yard several times but this is the 1st time I've ever had one sleep over
  5. Any decent 16'er will do just fine on Quinte, but like any large body of water, pay attention to the weather and you'll be good. I fished Quinte for years in a 16 and my brother fished it for probably 20 years in a 12' tinnie.
  6. Lemme know where you're gonna be Shane and I'll troll over & join you for breakfast LOL
  7. When it's snow'n & blow'n and cold, windy, rainy & just plain miserable in October & November, you boys can have your tillers, but I'll be snug as a bunny behind my full windshield and totally enclosed stand-up top
  8. Two years ago I started getting alot of bare patches in a section of the backyard and after digging around I found it was grubs causing the problem. I dug out all the grass and a ton of grubs then when it warmed up enough early last spring I gave it a heavy dose of nematoads then let it sit for a couple weeks. I levelled everything and layed down 1000 sq feet of new sod. Last fall I sprayed another treatment of nematoads and then again last week. The lawn came in really nice and this year is looking excellent and here you can see the new lawn adjacent to the older part of the lawn. Lotsa work but well worth the effort.
  9. Covering the seed does a few things Steve, it keeps the birds away, protects the seed from the hot sun and also holds the moisture. I also like to put a shallow layer of top soil down 1st to give the seed something to hold onto.
  10. Yeah, I've got quite a bit of grass here and it would cost a small fortune to keep putting new seed down. I had a few bare spots to over seed yesterday and went to the local garden supply place and it was $12 for a couple pounds.

    Baltimore Orioles

Some really nice pictures Joey, specially the 2nd one. I had one in the front yard a few days back but they seem pretty rare around this area, infact I think it's the only one I've seen since moving here.
  12. That solution is what I use for the weeds in my gravel driveway Matt and it works well, although it doesn't stop new weeds from growing. Don't use it on your lawn though as it will also kill your grass.

    Huh?

    Here ya go Joey
  14. Well said Joey and that was the point I was trying to make in my above post, you just said it a whole lot better than me.
  15. I've voted in every election since the late 60's, municipal, provincial & federal and every time I've known exactly what party I wanted, but I can honestly say this time I may not even vote as there is not one I would give the time of day let alone my support. That's sad too as I've always said if you don't vote...don't complain.
  16. Very sad news Albert and you have my condolances as it's one of the toughest things a man has to do. I had to put my little buddy down 2 1/2 months ago and it still hurts as much today as it did then.
  17. Don't worry about being in the minority, go with whatever the heck feels good to YOU.
  18. Yeah, we need a box on the ballot marked none of the above.
  19. But I haven't heard him say anything about getting rid of any politicians.
  20. You've got it bad
  21. And sadly jimmer, your probably more than right. Really pathetic !!
  22. Yeah, it was a very nice set-up davey and an excellent fishing boat.
  23. I spose the outfitter could tell a paddler if he thought the conditions were too bad, but I don't think he actually has the responsibility to do so. It could even backfire on him if he said it looked OK but then it got nasty and someone died and the family tried to sue him for it. IMO, it's completely up to the renter to know what's going on. You can't look after everybody.
  24. Years ago I had a nice Strarcraft tiller very similar to this one. It had a flat floor with a vinyl covering which makes standing and walking around much easier, plus it keeps your feet out of any water in the bottom of the boat. Storage lockers on both sides that doubled as seats and it keeps the center of the boat wide open so your not hindered by having to step over bench seats to move around. 25 HP with a trolling motor up front and it made a nice little fishing package and I even crossed the full width of Nippissing in it a couple times. I installed a swivel seat on the rear bench to make sitting for long periods more comfortable. Just something else for you to consider.

    Huh?
