  1. Morning Regan, good to see you joined our happy little group. The big bay you and I fished on Sunday normally has weeds right up to the surface by now but as you saw their only about 1/2 that high this year but I still think the big fish are in there as they always are. I'm getting lots of pike...unfortunately...and I don't see any reason for their big cousins not to be with them, it's just a matter of digging them out. They never come easy around here but when they do hit, their nearly always big fish. As I told you at dinner last night, I went to a couple other spots the other day I like to chase muskies and the cabbage is right up to the surface and bright green. Some areas didn't grow normally this year while others did and I think the fish are still gonna be in their normal spots. Waters really cool though and when I was out trolling yesterday it was only 71F which is down alot from where it should be. Air temps are only gonna be 50F today so that'll cool things off even more. Still beats working for a living though LOL....see you next week.
  2. Good to hear everyone got home safely Rich and as always it was great seeing the gang again. Diane and I have booked into Mashkinonje for the musky opener again next June and again for 2 more weeks next August, tentatively the 1st 2 weeks We moved over to Memquisit Lodge for another 2 weeks after you guys all left on Saturday but so far haven't found the big muskies yet but still looking hard.
  3. This mornings news said about 600 Burlington homes had their basements flooded and seeing as how the water came in through the windows & doors, none of it will be covered by insurance.
  4. I'm leaving in 17 hours for 16 glorious days on my twice yearly trip chasing muskies on the West Arm of Nippissing and for me, that's as good as it gets. I'm not a very exotic person and I'm very easy to please
  5. That little guy is a darned fish'n machine
  6. Happened to me a couple months back too but I ended up in California.
  7. I'd just ship it over to Shimano in Peterboro and let them fix it. Great service and may not take to long to get it back to you.
  8. You have too much fun Brian
  9. Fish like that sure make the day worth while
  10. Good to see you enjoying the new toys Brian.
  11. They bumped ours up yesterday from $1.22 - $1.29
  12. Just a guess here Steve, but I imagine any big freighters will get priority over pleasure craft passing through there.
  13. It's amazing how much trouble can be caused by one guys stupid act.
  14. Might be better for you to hit the road much earlier Rich, this is a long weekend up here and there'll be LOTS of folks travelling the highways. Fred's got the right idea of getting thru that stretch of road VERY early.
  15. We've got a few coyotes around here but not many, but I had an animal on my front lawn a couple years back that I'm not sure what it was, possibly a coydog ?? He was about the size of a heavy German Sheppard with shortish brown grey hair and just as mean looking as they come. I opened the front door to chase him away and he just sorta sneered at me and wandered off down the road.
  16. See ya Thursday Rich & hoping this is your year for the biggun.
  17. That's about as good as it gets.
  18. I always fish the West Arm which is just a few miles south of you and by mid June the cabbage is normally within a foot of the surface which is perfect. Was up there 5 weeks ago and the weeds were basically nonexistent. Only heard of one nice musky (52") caught in the area all week and that came off an island point with a little patch of weed at the end of it. Hopefully now there's enough cabbage in the next couple weeks to bring the girls back into their normal areas.
  19. And that's what it's all about right there !! Good to hear you guys had such a great trip and put some real nice fish in the boat. I'm heading up to the West Arm next week for 16 days so hopefully the musky bite is still on.
  20. Wouldn't be necessary as Yammie's don't break down
  21. That's great Matt, love the smiles on the little guys face
  22. Well done Mike, that's the way to win a tourney , waiting right till the end LOL
  23. You've got a good memory Lucas and your 100% correct. MikeP and myself were trolling Pigeon Lake and I hooked a nice musky that jumped and broke my 10" jointed Believer in half. I took a picture and sent it off to Drifter Tackle more of an FYI for them and a few days later received a phone call from them with an apology and they then sent me 2 more baits for replacement. Mind you it was a $25 bait that broke and I don't know if I'd expect the same level of customer service for a 10 cent bolt, but I spose it would have been a nice gesture on the part of Scotty.
  24. There's the most intelligent statement of the day, well said Steve.
