  1. I know what really took place and what I originally posted is true.
  2. Great way to spend a few hours Bernie and as Roy says, it's always fun to see the neighborhood from a different angle.
  3. Your absolutely correct Roy, my mistake, perhaps it's time to upgrade my reading skills
  4. Found this on Google Cliff. Interesting to read that auto inflators are not legal for sailboats. https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CC8QFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.safeboater.com%2Flearn-the-rules%2Finflatables.aspx&ei=0lz8U_qJJMSBygTou4AQ&usg=AFQjCNGEnoIeuMEyLdsQSejdKxJt909BEA
  5. I thought any inflatable had to be worn to be legal Cliff but I may very well be wrong. I have an automatic one and always wear it anyways if I'm alone in the boat.
  6. Thanks for your replies folks and am happy to hear most are in agreement with me that both these incidents could have been handled in a much better fashion. I've always been 100% pro cop and have been stopped many times on the water and have never had a bad experience with any of them, but a couple guys like the ones in my post can sure make the good ones look bad and paint them all with the same brush.
  7. Hi guys, I was up at a Nippissing lodge the last 2 weeks and a couple incidents with some other guests and the OPP marine unit had me wondering if they could have been handled differently. 1st was a man and his mother out for a boat ride. They had all the required safety gear and both were wearing life jackets and had another 2 spare jackets in the boat. The OPP stopped them for the usual check and everything in the boat was OK except the life jacket the man was wearing had a tear in the back. The cop told him that was illegal and gave him a ticket for $240. The jacket the mother was wearing was OK as were the 2 spares but the cop didn't care and told him he could fight it in Sudbury court if he wanted. 2nd incident involved another family and the same cop a couple days later. A family of 5 from Pittsburg was out for a boat ride and all were wearing life jackets when they were stopped. Again everything in the boat was good except for the life jacket one child was wearing. It was rated for 50-90 pounds and the cop said the child looked lighter than 50 and gave them a $240 ticket and again said they could travel back to Canada to fight it. The child had a medical check-up the previous week and weighted 48 pounds but they didn't tell the cop as they just wanted to get away from him. In my opinion, $240 is alot of money considering everybody was wearing life jackets in both boats and everything else was perfect and I think a warning would have been sufficient in both cases and just tell them to both correct the problem before coming out in the boat again. Am I right or wrong with my thinking ??
  8. Thanks Joey, that's the one, that was a crazy night LOL And John, there's a steak & blue waiting for you & Barb, lemme know when
  9. The sun was shining bright when we left this morning Bernie, 1st time it wasn't raining in a week .....naturally LOL
  10. Aikinheads is normal growth right now Joey but most other places, including the big bay, are still 3-4 feet below the surface. BTW, Diane wants to know if you can send me the pics you took of her & Barb with the crazy lights attached to their glasses in your cabin.
  11. I have the best luck with a 9" black
  12. Hiya Joey, we were posting at the same time and I was replying to Dan. Yup, that's the cabin And nope, we won't be up again till next year.
  13. A week ago the temps were around 72F, then dropped to 65 over the next week and by yesterday they'd climbed back to about 68 so their going in the right direction. Weeds are still lower than normal but I think things will be back to somewhat normal once the temps get back into the 70's. Good luck when you get up there.
  14. Never tried the Zara's Rob, but I'd imagine they'd work well too
  15. Thanks ketchenany I spend most of my time in West Bay east of 64
  16. Thanks guys, good to be home again. Has to be Canada's smallest cabin Phil LOL
  17. Musky Mainia "Doc" for me. Good action and it puts alot of muskies in the boat.
  18. Hi guys, I've been away for our 3rd trip to Memquisit Lodge on the West Arm of Nippising for the last 14 days and just got home awhile ago. 500 miles round trip and everything is good and the truck and boat performed perfectly. Our log cabin was great, the hosts are excellent and as always the scenery was unbeatable. As I posted earlier this week the musky fishing was the slowest I've seen in 10 years up there and it rained 1/2 the time but it was an excellent trip and my wife and I had a great time. Good to be home but I can't wait to head north again.
  19. You know as well as I do George it was a fluke
  20. Didn't mean to imply 45 is small Mike, but there's so many big fish up here a 45 just seems small...if that makes any sense And John, no we can't make it to Cross and the other fella is tied up with work. Thanks for the comments guys, I'm having a blast up here as always !!
  21. Hi guys I'm still up here on the West Arm of Nippissing chasing muskies but it's the poorest fishing I've ever seen in my 10 years of coming here. Weeds are still low in most areas and the water temps have dropped 7 degrees in the last week. Still having a great trip but a couple big fish would be nice. I hooked into a biggun a couple days back while trolling but never got her to the boat. My wife and I headed out this morning to a favorite spot and I hooked this girl on the very 1st cast of the day. She was only a thin 45" but at least it got that skunk off my back. Just to show how good the muskies are normally up here, this is the smallest fish I've ever got in these waters. Hopefully it'll pick up before we head home on Saturday but as I've always said of this lake and how beautiful it is, I could fish here all week and get skunked but still go home and say I had a fabulous week of fishing.
  22. Nothing picture worthy yet Glen but hopefully the change in weather will get the big girls moving.
  23. Been raining for 5 days straight now on my little corner of Nippissing and we've had the cabin heater on for several days now too, but the sun came out an hour ago and the weather dood now says it should be nice for the next week . Water temps have dropped 5 degrees in the last few days and were 66 this morning. Sitting in a warm & cozy log cabin in the woods and looking out over a beautiful lake on a rainy day still beats a whole bunch of other stuff I can think of though.
  24. Well, I don't know where the record musky is, but I do know where she isn't, and that's all the places on the West Arm of Nippissing I've been fishing all week LOL
  25. Looking forward to it Regan, I've got some stuff to do in Sturgeon Falls Monday morning but any other time I'm good to go.
