This past June my sister finally went on her first fly-in fishing trip. We went to Kearns Lake outpost out of Thunder Bay which is run by Thousand Lakes Outposts out of Thunder Bay. The trip was excellent. I went there in 2011 and we caught many,many large walleyes from 22 to 27 1/2 inches too many to count. We also caught a large number of pike up to 40 inches that trip. This year the walleyes were not as large but much more plentiful, we caught many more between 17 to 20 inches than last year Here is the story of the unusual catch. One night my sister and I were fishing in a shallow bay jigging for walleyes when she had a hit on a jig w/ 3 inch power bait tail on it. She set the hook and started reeling the fish in,immediately her rod bent over doubled into the water. Since we had been catching numerous large pike this trip while fishing for walleyes we figured that she had hooked a large pike. She kept on reeling and a walleye of about 17 inches poked its head out of the water hooked in the upper lip. As the head of the walleye came out of the water a large very long brownish thing was coming out of the water hooked to the lower jaw teeth of the walleye. My sister swung the fish over to me and I grabbed the brownish object. This brownish object was very heavy and completely full of mud, muck and water. I then dipped the object up and down in the water getting rid of most of the mud and muck. I then wrung out most of the water and brought it into the boat. Then laying the object in the bottom of the boat we saw that it was a large hooded sweatshirt We took the sweatshirt back to camp and the next day layed it out on the deck to let the sun dry it out When we came back later it was dryed out and we could just faintly see a logo on it. On the front of it was in large letters PACKERS, below was a large GB and below that in large letters GREEN BAY Since our other four friends on this trip were Pittsburgh Steeler fans, and I'm a big Chicago Bears fan, it was only logical that my sister who is a Packer fan and lives in Wisconsin should be the person to catch this sweatshirt Also in honor of catching this unusual sweatshirt we have named the bay where it was caught SweatShirt bay On the Friday before we were flown into the lake I had the pleasure to meet Mike Borger and his family in the restaurant of the Valhalla Inn in Thunder Bay.

Dan, No problem,I'm glad I could try and help. If renting a car is the best solution for getting your brother to Nakina with a minimum of problems,Do It! You will have a great time at Eddie's. I have never been to his camp,but have fished in that area with Northern Outposts at several different lakes. I'm going to the Pickle Lake Area this year,I'm not sure yet,but maybe to North Caribou Lake. Went there in 2007 and caught a Ton of fish Have a great time planning your trip,and post a report with pictures when you get back If any thing else on an alternative way to Nakina comes up,I will send you details Take Care Larry S

Dan D, Found out Caribou Coach out of Thunder Bay goes to Geraldon fares are$ 52.50 one way per person.1-866-935-2811 Hopefully your outfitter could pick you up from Geraldon, Also Prestige Limo advertises Out of Town city to city service 1-877-801-5466 Look into these options Hope this can help you. If I find any other options I will post them here

Dan D, I posted on the Thunder Bay Fishing Message board to find out any Limo Services or other options to Nakina. So far the answers gotten are to go Greyhound and a place called AutoBus contact Roy(Les0 807-329-5831, don't know if this is a bus to Nakina or Limo. Will keep monitoring the message board to see if any other answers to this question are posted. Larry S

Dan, You could check into Limo services in Thunder Bay to see if anyone could drive you to Nakina It would probibly be cheaper than renting a car Larry S.

As long as the mail is first class marking it return to sender will work. If the mail is not first class then the post service will not return it,the carrier will throw it away at the post office. I was a letter carrier for 38yrs so I know how bulk/junk mail is handled

Hi Everyone, I'm new to your board but a long time poster on Walleye Central board. I fish with Phishfearme and went on the latest trip he posted about at Kearns Lake. Have been going to Canada since 1977. Had a close friend who owned a drive to camp(Silver Birch Camp) about 20 miles north of Kenora near Redditt and went there for 30yrs until he sold it and has since passed away Also have gone on over 40 plus fly-in trips to various areas of Northwest Ontario The walleye photo posted by Phishfearme waqs caught in 2009 at Wettlauffer lake it was a little over 29 inches. I can highly recommend Thousandlakesoutposts out of Thunder Bay for great fishing and a Super Luxurious cabin with Everthing needed for a fishing trip or a family vacation I also recommend North of 51 Outposts out of Pickle lake for excellent fishing,with short flights and very reasonable prices Looking forward to all the posts on this site Will try to contribute my 2 cents at various times Larry s
