  1. 20 seconds to get on plane is too long. It should take only a few. As for running super, you are wasting your money UNLESS your engine manual says you should. Does the engine accelerate smoothly or does it stumble or hesitate at all? When you accelerate to get on plane, is the drive all the way down as its supposed to be, how much throttle- 3/4 or more or only a little bit? Lots of questions can be asked. The drive may be OEM but is it the correct gear ratio for the engine?? You really need to confirm this. You should not need to run a 15 pitch prop on a smallish boat (less than 22 ft). That sort of wheel is what you would see on a big cruiser. If you are running the incorrect gear ratio, a prop can help but it won't solve the problem. Have you checked iboats?
  2. Another thing just crossed my mind, check the gear ratio on your outdrive, it should be on a plate somewhere. 8cyls have a different ratio than a 6 or a 4. Iboats will be your friend here. Someone in the past may have pooched the drive and replaced it with the incorrect gear set.
  3. Drop down 2 inches of pitch and get a 4 blade propeller. It should get up real quick and since you aren't too worried about top speed, it's all good, you will probably increase about 100rpms at wot so at 4600, you should be fine, but with an old engine, I wouldn't run it there for any lenght of time. You should go on iboats.com forums, you can get a manual for your engine and drive for reference. Get a new style prop with the removable hub, you'll be in business for around $200 or so. Have the old prop repaired so you have a spare. Good luck!
  4. I think your hub is pooched. The rubber inside takes a beating over the years and gives out with wacky things happening. The coupler isn't the issue, if it went, you'd be dead in the water. Dropping pitch will get you out of the hole faster but where are you in the recommended rpm range?? A lower pitch prop will raise your wot rpms by 100-250. If you are looking at an overrev situation, you'll be shopping for a new engine right quick. Stay within the range. If its still slow to get on step then think about smarttabs.
  5. Good on you!!! Make sure the story of catching the 'ski accompanies the returned bait. Its good for your marketing and testimonials. Next bucktails I buy will be from you and I hope I will need to return them to be reworked.
  6. Welcome back to the fishing world. I hope your wallet is ready since you are a gear ho like many of us here. I like Power Pro and Tuff Line and it depends on the price of the line I need that day as to which one I buy. As for mono, I just use Trilene in 6 and 8lb test for walleye and small stuff with the kids on my spinning gear. Your 6'6" can be used for spring pike as well. Enjoy!!
  7. TAKE IT FOR A WATER TEST!!!! That's #1. If it runs and performs to your satisfaction then you can worry about the other things. As far as I know, MTO to transfer ownership of the trailer and Service Canada to register the hull I'd to you.
  8. Best deal I found was U Haul. Installed wired and a bar and ball cheaper by at least 50 bucks.
  9. Nice. Your kids know what real fun is all about. Not playing video games or being strapped in front of the tube.
  10. Nice F7. That's what this site is all about, COMMUNITY. Helping each other out. Now you have the advice of a pro. Good luck on this and keep us posted.
  11. Looks like you and the gang had a great time. Nice report.
  12. Very nice, has me thinking about the 2 pork tenderloins thawing downstairs for dinner.
  13. Great report!! Good to see a lot of familiar faces and see that they are doing well. As for the weather, there's always next year!!
  14. Great pics and report. Good to see our Irish friend is still alive and well during his well earned disappearing act.
  15. The chlorine in the pool water will reek havoc with the septic, not only is it a lot of water that will flood in over a short time, the chlorine will kill the beneficial bacteria in the field. You may have a wet smelly backyard for a couple of days until the water is absorbed by the ground.
  16. Knock yourself out!! It is a Tough Mudder!! My neighbours are doing it and have been training for the past few months. Along with my wife they did the Warrior Dash last month, it is just a small warmup compared to this thing. Good luck!!
  17. To the fellow that mentioned Lake Rosseau, do you have any idea what cottages cost on that lake?? You need close to a million dollars to be on it in a halfway decent cottage. Teardowns are well over a half mill. It's gorgeous BUT that comes with a price. We just bought on a smaller Muskoka lake that has bucketmouths and hammerhandles but the launch into the big 3 lakes is only a few minutes away for when I want to do some serious fishing. Do your homework on the various lakes and understand you may have to compromise. What about putting down some landscaping fabric and then dumping sand on your waterfront to create a beach?? After a couple of years the sand will wash out giving you a relatively weed free swimming area. Food for thought.
  18. Have the drive pressure tested. You are losing it somewhere. Also, check the gear oil in the drive for water intrusion. Iboats.com forums are a great resource. Youu can get the service manual for your engine/drive there.
  19. A V6 x-over or sport ute will do the job pulling up to 3k pounds. Over that and you need a bigger tow vehicle ie a pickup or full size sport ute.
  20. Send them out after brekkie and tell them to have fun. If they have a couple of bikes and a wagon or two, they'll figure it out. My two aged 7 and 6 have fun at the trailer and spend next to no time inside. If it rains, make sure there are a few crafts to do.
  21. They make a nice hull.
  22. Stahn craft out of Honey Harbour. Dunno if they have a website. I know they have a few customizable designs and go from there.
  23. The oil companies esp the refiners like it because they are producing 83 or 84 octane gas and are using the ethanol to boost the octane to 87. They don't need to refine the gas as much to achieve the same octane #'s. Ethanol has the equivalent octane of 113.
  24. Ethanol is here to stay and you'll see it everywhere over the next couple of years. All new engines and fuel systems are built with ethanol resistant hoses and seals. As for additives, run stabil in your last tank of fuel for the year and don't worry. Ethanol is a solvent and will keep the fuel system clean. It only becomes a problem when it gets old. That means 6+ months. If treated for the winter, no worries.
