  1. It is nice in the fall. Most of the spots I fish except for a couple there is next to nobody around. I might see 1 or 2 boats fishing for 'skis during the week.
  2. 2nd what Rizzo said. I'm sold that they are using VP i/o's. At least you know they are running the best drive out there...........
  3. Sssssshhhhhh billy bob! All the more fish for me. I'm hoping to hit the water for skis in the next coupla weeks.
  4. HAVE A CHART OF THE AREA SINCE YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH IT!! There are rocks and shoals in the damndest places there. That said, are you renting a boat or bringing your own. Go out of the Del and turn right and then right again and pass by the beach area and marina row, follow into South Bay, plenty of water and there's fish there. You'll have plenty of fun in the area. I have a trailer around the corner and know the waters, that's why I give my warning. For the most part, South Bay is fairly safe compared to other areas of GBay. Good luck and have fun there. The sticky buns @ the bakery in HH are fantastic!!
  5. St Croix Avid in m or ml action depending on your personal preference and for a reel, you can't go wrong with a stradic. I'm a fan of the highend Quantum reels as well.
  6. SRT, he's got an Optimax which is a 2stroke. Not on the recall.
  7. I hope that Karma bites those knobs in the rear end.
  8. Shareholders invest in a company because they would like a decent retun on their money. They are risking their savings by investing. They aren't evil. Everyone in Canada that puts into CPP is a shareholder. CPP invests in companies too. There are many factors in play here. Electro motiv was mentioned, it was an American company to begin with. Consumers wanting more and cheaper goods is ultimately what is doing us in. What would a t shirt made in Canada cost as opposed to Bangladesh? Underwear? Socks? Pants? Shirt? We can't afford to shop Canadian but we can't NOT AFFORD to either. Our livelihood here is changing and if we don't change along with it by re-educating ourselves and retraining, we will be on pogy. Good luck to all of us.
  9. Chalk up another great trip @ Lake X.
  10. Damnation!! That's not the type of news your family hoped for. Jen is a fighter Wayne, she will beat this. Keep us posted and my thoughts and prayers for good health are with all of you. Take care.
  11. What about st croix premier. Its gotta be close on the price point. I have a few and love them.
  12. Check the fuel pickup in the tank. It could be rotting away. Sounds like you are sucking air instead of fuel. Check the fuel line and do what hirk said. Some seafoam wouldn't hurt either.
  13. How true, its amazing that they did it. That accomplishment was done before the age of the computer and then the internet. It was done with brain power, something lacking these days. Why learn how to do complex equations when you can punch it into this fancy gizmo called a kom-pue-terr and it'll spit the answer out right quick.
  14. You are getting to the end of its useful life. As for losing power on hills, you've got a tired engine. Try some thicker oil, it will slow the burning and hopefully help the compression. As for the vibration, sounds like worn out cv joints. Start planning on a new ride. 80k a year is a lot of driving. I used to drive 60k a year and felt like I lived in the car.
  15. What's really amazing is that they went to the moon using onboard computers that have less computing power than a scientific calculator. All their calculations were done longhand and verified by others back on earth. To accomplish what they did in the 60's was nothing short of amazing. In less than 10 years, the US went from putting a man into space to landing on the moon. JFK galvanized the nation and did something incredible. Can Obama or Romney do it? I doubt it. Put a man on Mars, yes it will cost trillions, how much was spent in Iraq and Afganistan?? The scientific and technological advancements that come out of it will be huge. Continue what Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins did. We need some modern day heroes and role models for our kids. RIP and God speed.
  16. Find the serial # of the upper and lower and post them on iboats. The gurus there may be able to help you decipher them to find the ratio.
  17. My father in law had a yamaha grizzly 600 or 650, don't remember which, it went through everything. It was a lot of fun on the old mining and logging roads near Kenora. He ran it for a few years with NO maintenance (his choice, not mine) and didn't have any problems at all. He's the kind of guy that'll run it to death and put it away soaking wet. They can take a lot of abuse.
  18. 20 seconds to get on plane is too long. It should take only a few. As for running super, you are wasting your money UNLESS your engine manual says you should. Does the engine accelerate smoothly or does it stumble or hesitate at all? When you accelerate to get on plane, is the drive all the way down as its supposed to be, how much throttle- 3/4 or more or only a little bit? Lots of questions can be asked. The drive may be OEM but is it the correct gear ratio for the engine?? You really need to confirm this. You should not need to run a 15 pitch prop on a smallish boat (less than 22 ft). That sort of wheel is what you would see on a big cruiser. If you are running the incorrect gear ratio, a prop can help but it won't solve the problem. Have you checked iboats?
  19. Another thing just crossed my mind, check the gear ratio on your outdrive, it should be on a plate somewhere. 8cyls have a different ratio than a 6 or a 4. Iboats will be your friend here. Someone in the past may have pooched the drive and replaced it with the incorrect gear set.
  20. Drop down 2 inches of pitch and get a 4 blade propeller. It should get up real quick and since you aren't too worried about top speed, it's all good, you will probably increase about 100rpms at wot so at 4600, you should be fine, but with an old engine, I wouldn't run it there for any lenght of time. You should go on iboats.com forums, you can get a manual for your engine and drive for reference. Get a new style prop with the removable hub, you'll be in business for around $200 or so. Have the old prop repaired so you have a spare. Good luck!
  21. I think your hub is pooched. The rubber inside takes a beating over the years and gives out with wacky things happening. The coupler isn't the issue, if it went, you'd be dead in the water. Dropping pitch will get you out of the hole faster but where are you in the recommended rpm range?? A lower pitch prop will raise your wot rpms by 100-250. If you are looking at an overrev situation, you'll be shopping for a new engine right quick. Stay within the range. If its still slow to get on step then think about smarttabs.
  22. Good on you!!! Make sure the story of catching the 'ski accompanies the returned bait. Its good for your marketing and testimonials. Next bucktails I buy will be from you and I hope I will need to return them to be reworked.
  23. Welcome back to the fishing world. I hope your wallet is ready since you are a gear ho like many of us here. I like Power Pro and Tuff Line and it depends on the price of the line I need that day as to which one I buy. As for mono, I just use Trilene in 6 and 8lb test for walleye and small stuff with the kids on my spinning gear. Your 6'6" can be used for spring pike as well. Enjoy!!
