Just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to help. I Got the boat on Thursday, now just need to get some time off from work to actually use it I have been sitting in it quite a bit, now if only the pool was closer to the driveway so I had something to cast into. Thanks Again

Hello I am in the process of buying a used boat, which is a private sale. I am unsure of the steps I need to take to complete the sale as this is my first boat. If there is anyone with experience in buying a used boat from a private seller, could you please help me? The boat is about four hours away from my current location, and I would like to get everything done in one trip. I tried looking up information on the MTO website but still am unclear on the process, and I am afraid to get ripped off. Thank you all in advance Eric

Thank you everyone for all the advice and tips. I cannot wait to get started and report on how many tree branches I catch. I will definitely try to buy Canadian next time I am up near some tackle shops that carry fly fishing gear. Once again just wanted to thank everyone for there input.

Hi guys I was wondering if anyone could spare some time and knowledge on setting up a fly fishing combo. I spent a few days reading things on-line to get somewhat familiar with fly fishing, never knew there was so much to it Being new to fly fishing I'm not looking for an expensive outfit but at the same time not to cheap. From what I read so far the rod + reel + line all have to be set for the same weight. Being from Windsor I was thinking of fishing out of the boat for (Bass, Pike, Musky and whatever else hits my fly in St Clair). Then try my luck for steelhead when I'm not float fishing. So I was looking at the following on the Cabelas website: Reel: Pflueger Trion Fly Reel 1978 (3-1/2", 6.6, 100 yds/20, lb. 8 ) Rod: St. Croix Rio Santo Fly Rod RS908.2 (9', 8, 2, B, 4.3 ) both these items got great reviews, but I am open to any suggestion on a rod and reel. Now the part that really gets me confused is the fly line. Since I will be fishing anywhere from 4ft-14ft on the lake I was thinking of getting a WF sinking line. Now my questions are: 1) I was looking at (Cortland 333+ WF Sinking Fly Line) now do I put all the line on or just what I need. It does not even say how much line there is in the pack or spool. 2) Does it matter what type of backing I use? 3) Does the backing also have to match the rod / reel line weight requirement? 4) I'm assuming I also need to use a leader? could anyone suggest a backing and fly line to use for the rod and reel mentioned about I would really appreciate any help and advice you could give Thank you

That's a great idea but I don't think they will ever do that.... Even if they had some sort of volunteer program I know I would sign up, and I bet a many others would also. Even if I live in Windsor I hit up most of these rivers any chance I get.

Yes I agree it a horrible site to see but I love river fishing don’t think I can ever give it up. I drove down from Windsor on Saturday to take a look at the conditions since the area did get some rain. As I was pulling into the parking lot, I saw a Police Marine Unit Car parked there. This gave me at least some hope that at least for a few hours it might keep these goons from raping the resources. I didn’t see the cops they must have been on the river either fishing or taking care of some business, but hopefully there presence did some good. Even if they were just fishing themselves I think the car in the parking lot would make a lot of these guys change there mind.

Hi All Thought I would introduce myself since I'm new to the site . First off I am a die hard steelheader been that way since I was about 7 years old , I also fish for other species. Well being from Windsor we don't get much trout down here so I gotta make do with what we got. You guys got a great site here , I learn something new everyday. oh now on to a quick question or two 1) When im out fishing how would I reconize an OFC member. Do you guys have hats or patches you wear ?.. I'm sure I have probably fished near someone from the site at one time or another. 2) Was wondering if someone could help me out. When I target steelhead I only float fish , but I have been wanting to try some shore fishing. Cast some spoons and such ,now would you use a leader when casting spoons from shore ? ... I think the answer would be "no" seeing as in the late summer the salmon start to move in closer to shore, but again I am no expert on this. Eric
