Olympic hockey is worth the 4 year wait for me. Love it!!

I've only really used the smelt and lipless rattle bait with success. Both are pretty good. I like the bigger smelt for pike sometimes and walleye. The little smelt was a good bait for night time eyes in some pressured waters when used like a jerkbait, I put a bit of splitshot on to get it down and it gets hit sometimes when nothing else does. I've trolled the large deep diving perch for big pike with no success, but sure it has it's place. My buddy used it in my boat for musky a few times and think it got bit once.

You can call your broker as mentioned and ask for advice off the record I believe. Nothing to loose.

If he didn't report it already, don't think much can be done going the insurance route. His word vs yours and no police record. Should of definitely snapped a few pics however. Ask him to get a few quotes for the repair and you want to see them in writing. I'm guessing he's not local to you. Let him know your thoughts and offer to pay a reasonable quote, or I'd tell him he's out of luck.

Just wanted to bump this up and see if anyone has tried it? Also, I noticed on the mobile app there's an upgrade now available for nav+.... looks like it adds more detail to your maps... such as one foot contour lines on simcoe. But for the $15 upgrade want to be sure! Anyone try it or try the upgrade on the mobile app?

They are sweet boats. I'd love to own one for a few seasons and just concentrate on rigging lake O, then move it to quinte in the fall... that would be the life! I saw one on kijiji a few weeks ago out of st catherines, but think it was smaller then you're looking for... Anyone know if the islander and sylvan offshore are the same hulls?

What a whale! Nice one. She's actually pretty good looking for her age...

Awesome. Neat to see a winter walleye softwater report from Niagara.

I do my baitcasters... But spinning reels take a little more time plus once totally took apart a stradic and had a heck of a time getting it back together the same lol... just didn't feel the same after and could not figure out why... not worth the time for me! For 20 bucks, you really can't go wrong sending them in. Wonder how long it takes them to do one reel. Do they totally clean, degrease etc?

I'm the same as most - 95% of the time get by with improved clinch for flouro/mono, palomar on braid, and back to back Uni for flouro leaders. Just give your knots a solid check. Careful with the improved clinch on flouro, it slips if not lubed and synched down nicely but never had one break at the knot.

That looked like a sweet day to be out there.. Nice work on the video!

Whatever you use seal it well with an epoxy resin or spar urethane. Don't need marine grade plywood. I did a lot of research on it last year when I decided to redo my boat interior, did 4 coats of spar urethane on my existing wood and it's glassed over nicely, seems invincible. You also don't need to replace everything, if your wood's not rotten (you'll know after it dries out and you sand off the glue), just seal the crap out of it and reuse it. Maybe you only need to redo the transom if you're lucky.

I remember the first and only time I was spooled.. with a bass size baitcaster and 30lb braid, off a pier. Not much you can do with that and a big king on the run. I upgraded to a med/heavy flipping stick, bigger baitcaster and 50lb braid and can horse in a fresh 25+lber pretty smoothly. I also use a med 10.5ft spinning combo but prefer the bigger stick if wind permits decent casting with the heavier baitcaster. I can see how a big king could take over 1000' pier fishing and have seen a few spoolings out there.

I didn't go through this whole thread.. but want to say that I just ignore when Al opens the bible. He's passionate about his faith and wants to share, can't hate him for that. To each their own!

Yeah Herbeck is was pretty respected in the musky world, you've probably seen him on some musky shows. Pretty sure the "herbie rig" I ordered is Steve's product. Common Steve, gotta follow the rules! It's embarrassing and worse because the sport serves his profession. Obviously someone who doesn't respect the rules. I'm kind of glad he's exposed for it and made an example of.

PiranhaMax 175 PT - is there ice fishing adaptor?
JoshS replied to hotsky's topic in General Discussion
You can easily use the stocked transducer and mount on something to stick it down the hole. Just need to get the transducer level and in the water, easy. For the $200 you could get the lowrance elite 4x and make it portable. You can order those suction cups for the transducer or make something you can clamp on the boat and mount the unit head in something portable like in a small cooler bag. -
I can see how those sounds could scare the crap outta ya if you don't know what's going on and you're on the ice. I've seen some neat video's of what Lew's explaining.. ice tsunami's some call it. Mother nature's pretty cool/scary sometimes.

Looks awesome. I want one!

I love the way Sail does returns.. no receipt needed. They keep your purchases on file on your profile. All box stores should adopt this CT's generally pretty good to deal with on returns in my experience, even if you lost your receipt. They usually honour warranties in store and give you a replacement right there. Well most CT's, maybe not hearland lol. CT not taking back stuff a year later after warranty period is over, that's understandable. But not sure why they wouldn't take back Pikeslayer's trimmer.. sounds like they should of.

Chicago's got the best food! Giordano's, lou malnatis, and pizza uno are the most popular I think, probably can't go wrong at any of those places. I've been to lou's and giordanos and can't say which is better, both are great. It's heavy stuff go on a completely empty stomach. My favourite part of chicago other than all the blues bar's is their restaurants. Look up Garret's popcorn too, they have a few locations in and around the loop area - get the "chicago mix, can't be disappointed. I usually get it last day and bring a bag or two home.

Good work! We saw you guys out there last weekend. Sunday was such a beauty day weather wise on the water, how nice was that eh? Till next year...

I can see why the OP was aggravated having not known MEC's structure being a coop and just wanting to check out. Maybe they need some better education for new customers at check out. I'm a fan of MEC too. Nothing beats a retailer with an amazing return policy and their gear is decent.

The mulled wine usually gets brewed this time of year! I don't do the making from scratch thing but my buddy does and some of the stuff drank takes a bit of getting used to lol. It's not an easy art. Off the main topic but spiced rum and egg nog on ice is one of the tastiest drinks in my books. The rum eggnog season is just around the corner, give it a try!

MCI Insiders - someone have the pic of the anglers 59x34?
JoshS replied to Steve's topic in General Discussion
I get how the guys don't want the publicity.. but seems there is way more hype now that the pic is being held back. So much controversy in the musky record world. Can't wait until someone catches and keeps a giant and puts it all to rest. Regardless it's a undoubtedly massive pig and awesome accomplishment.. hope they didn't catch it on a jig and minnow lol. Congrats to the gentlemen who released it. -
Comforting to hear those guys all alright. Those charter guys must of been close enough and quick enough to make all the difference in the world, well done. When they're ready to tell the story.. I'm really curious to know details. Like others have said, we need to learn from what happened.
