I was out there this weekend.. did north Pigeon on Sunday... and not a sniff. In fact, we didn't see a fish all weekend. First time both my buddy and I combined for a solid weekend skunking in a long time including no sightings. Makes you feel crazy for duking it out all weekend in that for nothing lol, not even a follow to add a piece to the puzzle. The fish were definitely off this weekend compared to the last few weeks. Tough to see follows with the conditions this weekend but thought I'd at least see a few. Tough weekend! Next weekend is looking a bit better weather wise.

question- how to keep critters out when storing stuff outdoors? NF
JoshS replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
I used moth balls last year and found about 10 mice droppings when I uncovered my boat in spring. Looks like they went in and left. The replies on this topic vary a lot.. mice are pretty adaptable, not sure of any sure bet method that would keep them away if they're abundant. Control the population, clean your boat well before storage and try to make it as uncomfortable for them as possible with some deterring scent -
I had no idea a thermos could last that long! I've been using cheap crap for the last few years. I'm gonna grab one, thanks for the tip.

Looks like an awesome trip and you guys did pretty good! Cool shots, those rivers look awesome.

I use mid level cabelas and they're pretty good. Plus they go on sale all the time. Had them leak once and sent them back for a new pair no questions asked.

Very sorry to hear.. I don't know you but I'll be thinking about you and your family and hoping you can stay strong.

Well... that was quite a report. Amazing job slaying the specks, pretty insane numbers!!! Love the record keeping!! And the C & R tagged fish and info is really cool. Awesome report on some amazing fishing!

Awesome fish. Even more awesome that it's a GBay giant. Nothing pumps the adrenaline more than a big musky!

I fish the kawartha's quite a bit and have only been stopped once, it was on a less-popular lake on a rainy wednesday afternoon. I was the only boat out there all day, besides the CO's who were "disguised" in a fishing boat. After they checked my license and asked me a few questions, they told me they were watching me from a distance with binoculars for awhile? I remember thinking, what a waste of time that was. They were on the lake for hours and I was the only boat. They could of been elsewhere. I understand they have to do their checks on lakes but they should have made the call to go check some other areas that day as well. Edit: Not in the boat I've been stopped a few times in the region, either night fishing for walleye and once they were setup at a 4way stop on hwy 36 checking cars. Some of the groups that fish the dams in the kawartha's pay no mind to slots (and garbage cans :wallbash: ), nice to see CO's there.

lol... Anyway good advice on shipping. Appreciated.

Thanks for the help. I called UPS earlier and you're correct MJL, I'd be paying around 40% extra on top of my order. Crazy!! USPS it is. Hopefully I elude any extra charges! Mike - was that UPS or USPS?

New world record tiger-Muskie caught !!!! 44lbs !!!
JoshS replied to fishindevil's topic in General Discussion
I've read that some Tiger's can in fact reproduce, but it's rare. Apparently males are always sterile but some of the females produce egg's and can reproduce as normal and spawn again with pike. That Tiger is ridiculous... wonder if any Canadian waters have a beast like that swimming around. -
That Tiger is a beauty!!!

Does anyone know if you get hit with brokerage fee's and duties and taxes ordering from muskyshop to canada? I just got off the phone with musky shop... they can either ship UPS for $21 or USPS for $51. I'm assuming USPS is the better bet to possibly save on duties and taxes but I haven't shipped much from the states. Anyone know how it works?

Is fishing trout beads essentially flossing/snagging?
JoshS replied to Jarfish's topic in General Discussion
I don't see any issue. There's a big difference between lining a fish vs getting a fish to bite a bead. One is snagging, the other is fishing. -
Fire starters for emergency if needed. Do you carry anything?
JoshS replied to npt1's topic in General Discussion
I agree, Bic's are the best. They can be submerged and still work. They always work! I always have a few bics around. -

What's the big deal?? The fish went for the bait, hit the bead. That is fishing... fooling a fish into eating your lure. It is not anything like snagging. -
I love luremaking.com I faxed in a big order on a thursday morning, they called me 5 mins later to review it and I had it literally the next day. Nice experience.

I just added a piece of pvc pipe that fits over the existing handle and use wing nuts for easy assembly when needed. Works well.

Wow. That fish is ridiculous!!! Man that's gotta feel good. Nice breakdown of the event as well. Congrats on the fish of a lifetime.

Dude... these pictures are incredible!!! Great work!

I've never used a calcutta TE for musky.... How does it compare to the calcutta D for casting big blades? I find the calcutta D workable but trying to burn them all day is tough... I almost prefer using my abu C3 with the power handle but demoted that to my trolling rod. The calcutta D fits good in the hand, very nice reel.

That's funny - I fished the same bodies of water recently, with the addition of balsam. Didn't do to well on Gbay tho, one follow in 2.5 days. Guess that's what it's all about. Just accidental pike and a nice walleye but no musky to be found. I really liked Restoule and Stormy being my first time up there. Got into a few there... and I lost what felt like a pig on Stormy, I did a no-mans cast and it hit a bulldawg in 40 feet. Nice lakes.
