  1. Outstanding trip and incredible recount! Great stories. These reports really entice me to get out and experience to some of these magical areas. I back Roy's comment!
  2. Yeah I downloaded ps3 media server awhile ago.. but hadn't used it much yet. Seemed pretty straightforward to play your computer content through ps3 on the tv. What's the best way to watch streaming content on your TV through websites like projectfreetv or stream live sports? Plug in through an HDMI? Tried to use the ps3 browser but it didn't work very well.
  3. I just cut cable a few weeks ago.. last day of service is Aug 5th.. See ya Rogers!!! I'm planning on using a ps3 as my media server - does anyone have experience with this vs roku, wdtv, etc?
  4. I'm loving this weather. I can't understand why some would rather sweat than be comfortable. I can understand being on a beach or dock, but other than that 22 is way better than 32! The musky like this weather way better too.
  5. Well, now I want one more than before. My friend has one and it's awesome. That's pretty impressive mileage right there.
  6. Nice work!!! Does sound like quite the nail biter.. Way to pull out a win with Plan C! and congrats on the family finish.
  7. I get it bad too... especially season openers and trips I look forward to all year. Packing in advance and a few beverages the night before helps calm things down but it's never easy getting to sleep when you're pumped to get up the next day.
  8. Looks good. Nice and wide too to eliminate slim on the carpet. I use the slim rapala one and musky slime always laces the boat carpet after. Hopefully you land a few in the red!
  9. I fished Pine for the first time last weekend... Was camping in the area and launched one night on the lake. I hear there are musky, walleye, bass in the chain. I targeted musky and didn't see one in the evening I fished. I threw a senko for a few casts as well and did find some largies. Not sure on the populations of musky or walleye in the lake, but you should be able to get some bass. Maybe others have more insight. Good luck.
  10. I'd say cat too.. if it's a real video from the area. It's crazy how things blow up on the internet!
  11. Successful trip, well done! Nice way to target a mixed bag of fish. I like swimbaits for eyes too...
  12. I was there mid april and fished a bit. As fishimortician says, get some fresh shrimp from the kitchen. I found snorkling around was the best way to find out where the fish were and what they are. I didn't have any crazy days but got a lot of small fish and a few small barracuda. I would also catch a small fish, put it on a bigger rig and try to hook some of the bigger barracuda swimming around. I ended up only hooking one big guy, and almost landed it but ended up with just the head of my bait thrown back at me! Here's a tip: Try fishing with banana's. It sounds crazy I know and goes strongly against the old fishing superstition... But on our last day of the trip, a few guests were wading around throwing banana pieces in the water and the fish just flocked to them like nothing I've seen. WAY more interest in banana then shrimp hahaha.. seriously. Oh yeah - bring a few things for the locals. Fishing gear such as spools of mono as mentioned and terminal tackle like hooks and weights. The locals hand line and lots of them use rocks as weights and hooks that look like they forged them by hand. You'll probably make a few friends with the locals and get a few fishing spots in return. Goodluck!
  13. For me it depends on the lure, e.g., for jerkbaits - I like wire for the action and little added weight; for swimbaits - heavy flouro to keep the bait up; gliders - flouro. Actually, the only rod I have a wire leader tied to is my jerkbait rod. I usually tie 50lb flouro leaders for pike. I keep a key eye on them and replace when needed. For swimbaits or tubes I sometimes go to 100lb. The only pike I've broken off due to leader issues have been on broken snaps. But maybe I've been lucky. I have yet to try the tieable wire leader material but will be. If you're asking if leaders are necessary for pike - yes they are 100% needed. If you need something easy, a few packs of 30lb wire leaders is all you need.
  14. I enjoyed that report, mainly because I can relate being a kawartha musky nut as well. We were out as well last weekend and fished a total of 1.5 days and only netted two. Pretty sure we were on the same lake as you guys on Sunday. I found last weekend tougher compared to the past weekend with the little wind and bluebird conditions. We saw maybe 6-7 total but only two committed. We had some very lazy follows early in the day sunday and couldn't get them to go. My friend threw a lot of blades but they wanted the plastics as well for us. We put in a few hours after dark as well to no avail. Congrats on the kawartha 50!
  15. Nice work! Gotta love a new personal best!
  16. First time I ever launched I forgot to take everything off the back.. transom saver and straps. That was a good laugh
  17. Cool!! Looks cozy
  18. It's a pricey job. Depends on the boat but I have a 16ft aluminum with everything pretty much carpeted and was quoted $1500-2000 most places. I did the job myself and ended up using over 30ft of 8ft wide carpet. I used contact cement for adhesive and 3m super77 spray for hard to glue places and reused most my hardware. For new hardware I went to Brafasco, the fastener companies have pretty much all sizes so easy to find what you need in one spot. If you do it, seal all your wood while you're at it.
  19. Awesome fish for southern ON!!! Well done.
  20. Yeah the only launches are either Humber to the west and Ashbridges to the east. Both are a good run to the islands. Watch the wind forecasts, you have a long open water drive from either launch. Depending on your boat, hit it on low winds or north wind. Goodluck.
  21. Basically everything Balsam side of the lock. The exception says it's applicable from the rosedale lock upstream to balsam, and then the trent canal from the rosedale lock upstream to the junction of the otonobee (rosedale river), which is the same water? I guess they write it like that to omit the rosedale river, which the regular slot applies. That's what I'm reading....
  22. Definitely seal it and you won't have to worry later. I sealed mine with 4 coats of spar urethane when I redid my carpet. Seems invincible now. I had a tough time finding epoxy locally for a decent price. But I researched spar urethane was a good alternative and worked well.
  23. They do a great job. I sent a few reels in last month in kinda rough shape and they came back feeling almost new. Cost me $25/reel. They didn't charge for the parts they replaced and service was quick. Reels are back to life!! One of the stradics I sent in is over 15 years old and they managed to fix and replace a few things and clean it up to almost perfect condition. Nice to have a company back you like that.
  24. I almost lost a pricey combo over the boat this weekend but grabbed it before it sank! I've combed the bottom once before for another and got it back. One day I'll loose the expensive combo but until then it's been a few pairs of glasses, lures, the odd tool etc.. I'd hate to drop my sonar in the water while screwing it on/off, bet that sinks like a stone lol.
