Honestly man there is some good pike fishing in that area just not on the river itself, ive fished a few of the lakes up there but its usually better in the spring and fall. In the future stay on a lake and dont be afraid to try a couple different lakes while you are there.

Best of luck!

Ive fished the morning bite a few times and it can be good but the magic hour before sunset is the best in my opinion for tricking monsters into the boat. That and the early afternoon bite during a full moon is pretty stellar as well.

If i was targeting hooks 100 feet down or so i would have lines at 100,90,80 and then leave my other 3 higher. You dont want to fish under them.

A buddy of mine was thinking of getting one of these but i steered him towards a cheap humminbird finder instead why kill the battery on your phone in 2 hours when you could just get a ff for a couple hundered? Even the less expensive models now have awesome detail. Either way best of luck with whatever you decide and let us know how it goes. -
Funny you say that bill because i had 3 different meat options out at one point and only took 1 hit on meat all day which is very unusual, without my flasher fly combos i would have been screwed. I guess they are tired of the main course and are looking for dessert! There is a lot of bait out there and ive done better by staying away from it cause those fish are stuffed!

Always fun to fish a tourney, a shame you couldnt keep the screamer. I went out yesterday for 10 hours and went 8/12 with biggest being 24lbs. Definitely getting better but slowly lol.

An intro does go a long way here, i also found out the hard way as i was new to internet forums at the time. Where are you coming from? There might be better options than collingwood depending on from where and how far you are willing to travel.

Yea it sure has been a treat to fish so far, try running your flies on your dipseys or even 1 fly 1 spoon, i rarely run anything else on dipseys these days. On sat we went 2/4 (ugggh!) and the two we dropped were screamers one on the right dipsey with flasher fly and one on the left with ff. First one was on for about 5 min till the reel gave out and disintegrated in my hands, 2nd one got off after about a min with my buddy fighting it. Both fish were between 170-220 fow 50-70 down. Hopefully it picks up soon, my people are gettin antsy lol.

Nice jimmer looks like fun!

Glad to hear you are ok buddy! When i was a kid i collapsed a ground hornets nest in my backyard and was swarmed instantly, i was stung almost 30 times and definitely felt some of those symptoms. The kicker being it was on my birthday! Important note lew, after that attack i devolped a mild allergy to bees so that a single sting will swell an entire appendage or even limb so i have to be very careful now, it might be in your interest to take an allergy test and/or buy an epi pen to carry with you. Good luck on your recovery, i need to see some big ski pics from you yet!!

Thats pretty cool man! My buddys uncle played for the rock for a long time, he either used to or still does hold the record for loose balls which always made me laugh. -
Ill let you know when i go out for round 2 on saturday. I went out last weekend and went 5/5 all little guys, didnt mark a good hook all day and only a handfull of small bait clouds. With the nicer weather im hoping the lake will setup nicely for the weekend and hopefully the fish will pile up a bit somewhere. Tightlines!

It looks like fun fishing for pics if thats your thing. I love trolling, ive never been on a charter so i cant comment on that but im pretty busy during a day of salmon fishing. Between looking for temps locating fish and bait selecting the right gear at the right depth and keeping 6 lines down tangle free i do not find it boring at all, not to mention trying to dial in a speed on the kicker and frankly i need a break! Thats why there is 3 of us lol. Point being, its not for everyone but its a lot different on your own.

Sweet slob man!

Couldnt agree more, i hate calm days on simcoe unless im going out with my wife and baby. Give me a mean chop that will keep a few boats at home and let me ride the waves to fish!
