  1. have a great birthday Lew
  2. From the south if you're heading up 48, turn right on Balsam Lake drive. follow it a couple of kms. When the road veers to the left, you keep going straight. Not the greatest launch but I've definitely used worse! You will see the launch no problem from Balsam Lake drive. You will be right where the canal comes in from Mitchell
  3. got a brand new Coleman stove (knock-off) from some dusty old antique shop in Parry Sound for 35.00 Add that to the hut I picked up from Aaron Shirley last year and I'm ready to go...as soon as musky season ends...oh ya and as soon as there is ice
  4. never mind, couldn't take the suspense so I looked it up...here we go (maybe)
  5. talk to me skipper, what's happening tonight?
  6. my thoughts exactly. a real nice fish for the guy, but the story is one of the best "fish tales" I have ever heard. Good thing they took the part out where the boat actually submarined a few times and how they debated on cutting the line to save their lives
  7. ...not to mention 600 feet of it! Gotta love the guys face, but I guess if I had my hand jammed up in a big musky's gills I'd pull an expression too. Perhaps another angler bit by the musky bug now?
  8. great stuff!
  9. algae scooper...the only time I was at Rice that lake was greener than pea soup, couldn't see 2 inches! That was years ago, and I'm sure only a short term problem (ie I just got there on the wrong day). Congrats to your cousin (and good for you as well!)
  10. holy! are those dimensions right though? 23 seems a little "skinny" on the second fish. Then again, if you're 56 long maybe its just a long "thin" fish. Just seems disproportionate for this time of year...then again what the heck do I know about a 56 inch musky! 2 awesome specimens
  11. Mr Pickles Mugglesworth
  12. That's awesome! Found money is great (although I guess it was your own all along). Nonetheless, because you didn't know about, may I suggest something totally frivolous and enjoyable. Maybe a nice night out for dinner at an expensive restaurant with the family. Before my dad died he told us he had a "confession" to make. Immediately our hearts jumped...what had he done that he needed to confess about?? Ended up telling us that at the place in Florida he had hid some $$$$ for an emergency under the carpet in the closet! What do you know, after he was gone my mom and I head to Florida, pull up the carpet and there it was! Good thing he had time to "confess" or the next people to change the carpet would have had a nice surprise!
  13. interesting move by the flyers. hadn't seen that before
  14. ritual - I only stop at a Tim Horton's for coffee on my way fishing, otherwise I never go there (either make my own or drink the swill at work)
  15. thats ok. Make sure last cast is at the opposite end of the lake...gives you a long way to troll back
  16. ...do you mean shopping in the states, because I'm sure that's where the girlfriend would like to be Nice report with some great pics
  17. amen...unless you have a cement boat
  18. wd 40 and duct tape...what else could you possibly need
  19. hey at least it was a gorgeous day even if the fishing was hit and miss
  20. I guess we (Leaf or Connolly fans)were just hoping this time things would be different. So far it is not looking good
  21. dead work as well. I've fished both with success. Dead obviously you lay it on bottom, alive I give them enough line to get near bottom if that's where they want to go (suckers head down). Chubs like to swim up so if I'm using chubs I add some weight to the line or they'll tangle you up bad
  22. unbelievable. I've got 14 in the boat for an entire season!
  23. bluesky the elite 5 comes with a chip, so that is the one I'm using. Doesn't have 1 foot contours but I'm happy with the unit. Having said that, I'm not a techie guy at all, so pretty much any unit likely would have made me happy (except the humminbird one that says you're going 2.3 mph while in the garage!). For me and my low expectations it was all about cost, I wanted to keep cost around $500 and I was able to do that. The HDS was a bit more money, plus you had to buy the chip still (150.00??) so I never really considered it.
  24. NUTS!!!I just bought a unit about a month ago. Got a great price, but a 100 rebate would have made it even nicer!
  25. I have
