  1. holy! are those dimensions right though? 23 seems a little "skinny" on the second fish. Then again, if you're 56 long maybe its just a long "thin" fish. Just seems disproportionate for this time of year...then again what the heck do I know about a 56 inch musky! 2 awesome specimens
  2. Mr Pickles Mugglesworth
  3. That's awesome! Found money is great (although I guess it was your own all along). Nonetheless, because you didn't know about, may I suggest something totally frivolous and enjoyable. Maybe a nice night out for dinner at an expensive restaurant with the family. Before my dad died he told us he had a "confession" to make. Immediately our hearts jumped...what had he done that he needed to confess about?? Ended up telling us that at the place in Florida he had hid some $$$$ for an emergency under the carpet in the closet! What do you know, after he was gone my mom and I head to Florida, pull up the carpet and there it was! Good thing he had time to "confess" or the next people to change the carpet would have had a nice surprise!
  4. interesting move by the flyers. hadn't seen that before
  5. ritual - I only stop at a Tim Horton's for coffee on my way fishing, otherwise I never go there (either make my own or drink the swill at work)
  6. thats ok. Make sure last cast is at the opposite end of the lake...gives you a long way to troll back
  7. ...do you mean shopping in the states, because I'm sure that's where the girlfriend would like to be Nice report with some great pics
  8. amen...unless you have a cement boat
  9. wd 40 and duct tape...what else could you possibly need
  10. hey at least it was a gorgeous day even if the fishing was hit and miss
  11. I guess we (Leaf or Connolly fans)were just hoping this time things would be different. So far it is not looking good
  12. dead work as well. I've fished both with success. Dead obviously you lay it on bottom, alive I give them enough line to get near bottom if that's where they want to go (suckers head down). Chubs like to swim up so if I'm using chubs I add some weight to the line or they'll tangle you up bad
  13. unbelievable. I've got 14 in the boat for an entire season!
  14. bluesky the elite 5 comes with a chip, so that is the one I'm using. Doesn't have 1 foot contours but I'm happy with the unit. Having said that, I'm not a techie guy at all, so pretty much any unit likely would have made me happy (except the humminbird one that says you're going 2.3 mph while in the garage!). For me and my low expectations it was all about cost, I wanted to keep cost around $500 and I was able to do that. The HDS was a bit more money, plus you had to buy the chip still (150.00??) so I never really considered it.
  15. NUTS!!!I just bought a unit about a month ago. Got a great price, but a 100 rebate would have made it even nicer!
  16. I have
  17. Started with perch last year, but prior to that I only ice fished for pike. I like those cheap orange tip up thingees that are like $9. Once the flag is tripped, it free spools to let fish run. Plus spool is submerged so you don't have to worry about hole freezing over. I use 10lb test, don't forget the leader. Big honkin sucker hooked lightly through the back, no weight, hello mr pike. Love seeing that orange flag waving in the wind at you
  18. Houston we have a winner...good start, tank till they're last place or close to it, make a run in the last month or so to make it interesting, don't make the playoffs but get a worse draft position due to late season rally. This has been a common trend the last decade (except when they didn't own a draft pick they did not make the run to ruin said draft position). HOWEVER, I think this depressing cycle may be over. They will definitely hit the skids at some point, but they might just make the play-offs this time
  19. apparently for old style batteries this concrete floor thing was true but not any longer
  20. mmmm now there's some good eatin
  21. I leave all mine out in the garage, just charge em up once in a while. I don't know enough about batteries to think that would be unsafe
  22. I have been finding that the past month and a half. Most of our fish right at noon'ish
  23. ...could mid season have started last night?
  24. Gotta love a kid who doesn't want a picture of a 30! She knows there are better ones ahead
  25. nice looking fish! Can't believe there was a skim of ice already. I'm hoping to get out once or twice more myself
