  1. we've been out all day..house is down to 18. I'm hoping a bit of cooking and maybe a bit of running the dryer is good enough to get us back to 20...not doing the furnace yet
  2. if you're not on here posting you're out there fishing! I'm kinda jealous
  3. haha that's the reason I posted the question in the first place...I've heard so many different ideas. Anyways, I looked after the 9.9 2 stroke yesterday. At Cdn. Tire I see they had ethanol treatment stabil as well so I put some of that through it plus the usual stabilizer. Fogged it, bought some new seals and changed the lower unit oil. Should be good to go! The 50hp will be in use till musky season closes, and since I use the high octane shell in that one I have one less thing (ethanol) to think about. I like the idea of jacking up the trailer. I've never done it before, but I'm going to give that a shot this year! Thanks for all the input
  4. so does the stabilizer negate the effect of the ethanol? I always fog the 2 stroke but I've never fogged my 4 stroke, everything seems to be enclosed when I take the cover off, can't figure out where to spray it! The 4 stroke I usually let the pro's deal with it.
  5. I've got 2 outboards - a 2006 9.9 mercury 2 stroke and a 2001 50 Johnson 4 stroke. I've heard conflicting information regarding winterizing. Some say leave fuel in the lines (with stabilizer) to prevent drying/corrosion, others say drain all fuel out due to the damage ethanol will do. Is there a difference between how to winterize the 2 stroke versus the 4. In my 4 I actually use high octane from shell (no ethanol??)so does that maybe make a difference? Thoughts?
  6. ...and I bet you did a LOT less than drop your child
  7. someone has to make that their new ringtone
  8. I am all warm and fuzzy now
  9. go outside, put him in a headlock and start giving him noogies. Its a good way to find out if mom is still around
  10. go to any kawartha lake and start throwing 9 inch sledges. You will catch walleye and possibly a musky
  11. if they can come up with a wheelchair lift that's practical that would be great!
  12. yup, its a classic in the making...or maybe not. For Halloween I'm going to give my kid a stuffed gator, a rifle and take away his bathing privileges for the month of October.
  13. ...do you mean "moustache rides 10 cents" beauty bike by the way
  14. I feel educated and weird after reading this thread. Educated because I've never heard of one of these fish until recently...and weird, well it explains itself (I can't get those legs out of my mind)
  15. yipes...I just played the PB and J banana at the same time as the psycho at the top. I do not recommend this
  16. not a big follower of baseball, but I did know not much more than a week ago (I think) the Sox had a 3 game lead, and it had been much more. That's tough to cough up but somehow they managed Last night how it all played out? Well that's just ridiculous. Curse of the Bambino (if you believe in that silliness) is back in full force.
  17. Thats what I'm hoping. When I first saw one of these in action I couldn't believe it. To know there's a hump from 20 feet up to 10 off to your right is huge. Should help me from plowing right into weedy points too as I'm trolling...having said that, I've banged a bunch of fish seconds before the lure plunges into the milfoil! Maybe I will keep that tactic, but at least now I will haver the choice to stay outside the weeds on irregular weed lines if I want too. Before it was ah crap, back in the weeds
  18. I only watched the first minute. Was far too weirded out to keep going. Thank goodness for the subtitles.
  19. there's some solid advice. If you can, rebook! If you got to go now, good luck but it'll likely be some nasty weather and a tough bite
  20. I am way behind the times when it comes to technology. My idea of a waypoint is lining up the willow tree on one shore with the brown boathouse on the other...good luck on a foggy day! This summer I discovered what a great tool a GPS can be. While navigating at night on a foreign lake, my buddies hand held unit got us where we needed to go. To rely on eyesight was impossible. No way could you see where channels were between islands. Anyways, after a lengthy search, and lots of input from folks here I have decided to go with the Lowrance Elite 5. Basically a money motivated decision as its a "lower" cost unit, but from what I've heard, a decent unit. Thanks to all for your input, and especially scugog who has answered all my rookie questions without frustration.
  21. I can barely tolerate you guys on the computer, never mind face to face
  22. All it takes is one person bringing home a few largies in their livewell and setting them free. I've got a few ponds up here that have all kinds of fish in them
  23. I suggest something in June and something in November ...but since you're in Midhurst I could make any other date as well (even dinner tonight if you need company!)
  24. I guess the popular items they could knock a few bucks off so that the 13% discount wouldn't apply. Not sure if they do that, just a thought, especially on big ticket items where the tax might be $75
  25. ooh she's a dandy!
