  1. some footballs there
  2. That is so awesome. Big Cliff is heading out, you are heading in, the cycle of life continues. Hope you enjoy it your spot looks phenomenal. Very jealous!
  3. I would imagine those rentals are just tin cans. I bet you could buy a reliable tinny with a decent engine for 2k and just leave it at their place. When you find the real boat you want sell the tinny and get your 2k back. Better yet..have them buy the tinny. Everybody needs a runabout!
  4. I suppose a bit more information might help (ie how you plan to use the boat - fishing alone? with 4 other guys? tubing?) but for me, I had a great boat for kawarthas when I lived up in Barrie. Was a 16 foot princecraft, side console, bowmount trolling motor, 50 hp four stroke johnson was less than 10 years old when I sold it for under 10 k to one kickingfrog on this board. I am always happy to see his reports and pictures of "princie". If you look, you will find something. All the best in your search.
  5. very nice! I had the same problem once...found someone to sit on my hood over the tire that was spinning. Another time, when nobody around, I found that if you get the entire vehicle into the water, the ground is much harder packed (at least where I was)...lets you get some forward momentum and then the loose gravel is not as bad. Seems counterproductive (to back up a bit) but worked great.
  6. congrats on your sale! I am sure very few of us will ever have such an opportunity to live like you have the last 16 years. I am sure it was a wonderful experience. May you enjoy your summer before the big move.
  7. she's a beaut for sure....better than my first!
  8. this is a big thing right now, I actually know a few people who believe in a flat earth. There are lots of videos out there on the subject
  9. great report and pics...it wasn't literally the same pike was it?
  10. Thought I would give it 12 hours then check weather network again. Somehow things have managed to get worse. It now goes thunderstorm, thunderstorm, then 30 k north winds on the Friday. Kawarthas on the other hand show 23 degrees, 10-15 k winds and partly cloudy each day...guess the mind is made up!
  11. My musky opener plan was to go to St. Clair on the Monday after the opener....due to strong winds we cancelled that and headed to Kawarthas instead. This ended up being a wise move...the wind howled up there too but at least some fish were cooperative and we did not fear for our lives. We caught 4 smallish fish (all between 36-39 inches) and lost a couple more that also seemed to be of comparable stature. Now my yearly spring trip, planned for later this week (Wed-Sat) also appears to be in jeopardy...or at least heading to St. Clair seems to be in jeopardy. Winds again either strong, or from the north (and strong too). We generally make Belle River home base, and hope to be able to sneak out there as I truly miss the mothball smell of Petitie Dragon. Here is hoping things settle down or it might be a kawartha report showing up next week.
  12. after all that its nice to hear you were rewarded! Beauty fish you are now hooked
  13. very sad but what can you do? Paying the ransom would only lead to more kidnappings
  14. you could speed troll
  15. I hope some of those pike made it to your dinner plate! That's a beauty way to start the season Pete. We had a good day out too (4 for 6) but I would trade them all for that one!
  16. good times been there done that not doing it today! Off to kawarthas we go
  17. yup decision has been made...we are heading somewhere in kawarthas figure it out in the am!
  18. so any luck today? I am thinking of hitting up Balsam tomorrow
  19. ...don't let the city piss you off too much Brian...its a great spot. We left for other reasons but should life situations change I would return to Barrie in a heartbeat
  20. ya I have seen the same. Personally I am off the water long before the storm hits (when there is warning). Can't believe when I see others stay out. No fish is worth that
  21. I wish I could pick my days. There is a reason tomorrow is my first day out! Lots of commitments will do that to a guy. Sounds like we may be heading to kawarthas if forecast doesn't change
  22. ya...maybe tomorrow!
  23. haha you never know...maybe some string tied to the end. Would explain why the kid looks super bored and dejected tho.
  24. Finally getting the boat out (tomorrow) for the first time. The plan was to go to St Clair out of Belle River. Winds are forecasted for 30 k out of the west. Any higher I dont go for sure. Any lower I do go for sure. That 30 just puts me in the "What to do" zone. Not interested in driving farther and fishing Windsor area. My back up would be kawarthas instead. I am in a 16.5 foot alumacraft full windshield. Any thoughts?
