  1. glad you feel that way, personally I feel stupider (see, that's not even a word) every time I visit
  2. wow that's great to see, very nice photos
  3. the camouflage my friend, that's why she out-fished you. Those snotrockets are wiley beasts, Kelli just blended right into their environment
  4. definitely a good call on not making up the sign! Better call would have been releasing the fish right away, but hey, live and learn. Sounds like you had a good day with the water pretty much to yourself.
  5. oh man I had totally forgotten about that. I do remember that my suggested bait every time the question was raised was HOT DOGS...and I stand by that. Nothing beats a big honkin frank with a treble through it for GTA bass.
  6. when the old lady with the walker on shore blows past you you're definitely underpowered
  7. I actually looked at your photos this time, lots of nice spots on those fish. I'd say several are from St. Clair rather than Babaganouche
  8. Sneaky Pete, who'd you borrow those fish off? Every time I talk to you you were skunked Methinks Lew might be the cameraman for those photos on infamous Lake Babaganouche
  9. I still stink and its been a week since I caught one of the slimy buggers. Other than that, pretty good I guess.
  10. mudskipper. How many fish can run away from you after you catch them?
  11. great report! Glad to see I'm not the only one being bothered by incidental pickerel. Beauty fish.
  12. Johnny B...I smashed that one just for you! I gotta admit, I was pretty surprised to see that fish surface. Pickerel, especially big ones, aren't too common up there.
  13. Sweet fish and report. I especially like the part about the "rod buckled over". Seems like every Walleye I catch fights like a wet dishrag...they make hammerhandles look like Hercules. Then again, I'm usually catching them on 50 or 80 lb powerpro. I have to target these ferocious fish more often!
  14. Good times. Should have tried for some carp on the ultralight gear! Probably tow you all over the lake, or at least the swampy areas of the lake.
  15. Sweet mother of pearl that's a big rock bass. Haven't seen one that big since I was a kid (weren't they all that big 30 years ago, or did they just seem that big?). Either way, when that rocker goes in to the death spiral you've got a fight on your hands.
  16. Black flies weren't too bad. Fortunately there was a breeze that day and a lot of the black flies are pretty much done now. The mosquitoes at the launch at 8 a.m were just stupid though. I brought a bug hat but only needed it at the launch
  17. Happy belated B-day U.B. Man, you carp guys got some crazy set-ups just to put a piece of corn or bologna or wieners on a hook! You're almost as nutty as the musky guys
  18. Hey Fishless, let me know the next time you're passing through town and we'll see if we can wet a line
  19. I hear Nipissing has them 2 species. I'd give that a shot. Give yerself 2 days though, its a pretty big lake . Kinda like the Disney World of fishing. Closer to Toronto you've got L St. John or L. dalrymple, both good for pike and bass.
  20. In land lake off of Blackstone-Crane Lake Road
  21. great report. Man that is one sick donkey looking pike. Too bad about the big one that got away
  22. trust me Brian, you don't want to be seeing me!
  23. Fill that cooler all you want, I guarantee Paul will have it emptied by Saturday afternoon
  24. Wow, nice way to break the skunk!
  25. Finally got the boat out for the first time on Saturday a.m. The plan was to do some piking so we tried out an inland lake approx 15 minutes south of Parry Sound. Never fished here before, so it took a bit of time...but not too long...before the first fish was on. Not what I was looking for, but a nice incidental catch. This was a 6.5 lb walleye that hit a 5 of diamonds spoon. Never having been to Quinte, and never deliberately trying to catch a walleye, this was actually a personal best for me! Fish was released healthy. Funny thing is, I had just finished telling my partner that I had never caught a bass on a spoon before, but that I had caught walleye on a 5 of diamonds while pike fishing at Lakair. Couldn't have been more than 2 casts later that this fish was caught. Nonetheless, we didn't drive up to Parry Sound for incidental walleye catches. Pike was our targetted prey. We had a tough time finding even a hammerhandle on this new lake, although just before we were entirely discouraged my partner had a follow from a pike that looked like it had a shovel for a head...an absolute monster. As he quivered at the back of the boat, I caught a glimpse of the fish that appeared to be in the 40 inch range with an absolutely huge melon. About an hour after finally raising a fish, we managed to land one when I coaxed a 32 inch fish with broad shoulders out from under a boathouse. This fish had only one eye, but had a big girth so clearly wasn't having problems seeing the dinner menu. Throughout the day we had some follows of nice pike (mid 30 inches) but they seemed a bit lethargic, just kind of curious. The out of season smallies were out in full force though, being quite aggressive and hitting some large baits. Ended the day with this pike, not huge (a little under 30 inches) but a good way to wrap up the day. Good times out exploring new waters.
