  1. Unless its pinning the fishes mouth closed it will probably be alright. I've caught a couple of pike with lures/hooks stuck in their yap that appeared to have been there a while
  2. WOW!!!! That's a real nice bottle. I'm not looking for GPS points or anything but just some tips. Did you get it at a grocery store? Variety Store? Did you pay cash, debit, or credit? Is it recyclable? Could I get one like that within 2 hours of the GTA? Thanks in advance for any details you can provide.
  3. Stop pike fishing now while you are ahead, they are a dirty stinking fish. Now that I have your attention, congrats. Little pike like that put up the best fight right when you're about to grab them...that's when the flying trebles occur. Prior to getting to the boat, I find they fight like a wet dishrag. When you get it boatside, grab it by its little shoulders and let it know who's boss, don't wuss out or you'll be heading to emerg with hooks through your hand. And once they got you hooked, they'll probably thrash around even more! I'm sure many here could attest to that.
  4. Leaders...don't leave home without them! At least you know where the fish are, get them next time
  5. Go get em! I've never fished that part of Nipissing, but the rest of the lake is still producing despite some serious pressure, so I'm sure you'll have some success.
  6. We've got relatives with a place on Balsam. They told us already a couple of years ago there were pike in there, but now I've seen the photographic evidence. Here's hoping you kept it!
  7. Great report, them are some pretty fancy worms you were dealing with!
  8. Great photos, I have to make sure I get back up there next year. Did you guys get the same site again?
  9. I saved a frog out of a snake's jaws once...then the dang snake bit me and held on for dear life! Guess I should have given it a bottle of hooch
  10. Man that's too bad but I'd still call that a successful day! (shows how easy I am to please) Those big ones are a pain in the butt to land and unhook is how I look at it, I'm just happy to see them. p.s. shallow eye or deep eye?
  11. Sounds like a tough day! Were you using a leader on the second one that "got away"? A pike will cut through 20lb powerpro like a hot knife through butter
  12. Congrats! And in my opinion, if you're gonna get a couple of pb's, those are the species to do it in. Nice fish
  13. very nice report, looks like a busy day. That pike is one long skinny snake though
  14. I do fish that area, but only catch stinkin' slimy pikes. Oh ya, some smallies too
  15. yipes, I would be so far gone if I saw a bear swimming out to me. Bears are bad for fishing don't you know
  16. well done! Lew is exactly right. Next one won't be as tough to find. I took 4 straight days on GBay with nothing when I first started musky fishing, then went to Nipissing and caught 2 in a day! Keep at it and you'll get your hours down.
  17. I've always loved that "we represent you so we are looking after your best interests" crap. The agent wants the quickest sale, which means less time invested, less advertising invested etc. Nobody had an agent try and get them to drop their asking price? We had our house listed last year, although we did not really need to move, only if the offer was good. We told the agent this before "signing on". For the next 3 months, we heard the "drop your price" schtick over and over, even though we had clearly stated our goals, and expected price, before signing up.
  18. methinks I missed something...again
  19. its either smallies, or as doogles would call them "the mighty shoal carp" (musky) for me. No time to expand my horizons
  20. ...classic. Go to scugog. Attach bucktail. Cast and retrieve like a son of a bootch all day. Same rule applies for the other weedy Kawartha lakes.
  21. nice report, and I'd agree about 6 mile. I used to fish there 15 years ago and it was quite reliable at that time too. Glad to hear it is still producing
  22. Lake Dalrymple...infested with pike. Canal lake...ditto
  23. Great report JB! Man I love the markings on those small muskies.
  24. zoinks, don't go in the water! Those are some serious fish. Very nicely done.
  25. ...just try to stay in your boat this time Spiel. Its all we, or the poor fish that have to live in that water, can ask.
