  1. Thank you to all!! I guess I have some learning to do. I know my way around inland lakes for Bass,Pike etc but no clue on the Great Lakes. Thanks again!!!
  2. Hi, I'm new at Salmon fishing and I'm looking for any insight as to whether the fish are feeding/biting at this time of year in Lake Ontario? I'm launching from Lasalle Park in Burlington and going out into the lake from there. Are there any good areas in this area of the lake? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  3. Sorry guys I was away for a couple of days there. Thanks for all the input into this topic. Now I'm really confused!! haha I want to use the boat as sort of an all around boat. I want to tube, ski, lounge and fish from it. I was looking at some fish n' ski boats that seem to have good platforms for fishing and most of those have the I/O motors in them. I think as someone said in their reply, that it boils down to preference. This is my first big boat as all I've had in the past was a 12 ft with a 9.9 on the back. So it's all new to me. Anyways, thanks again for the input.
  4. I'm thinking of buying a new boat next year and was just curious if anyone out there can give me some ideas on their opinions about whether to get an outboard or inboard/outboard motor? I'm looking at about a 17ft boat. Any input or suggestions would be great!! Thanks
  5. Well my buddy and I made our way up to Six Mile Lake yesterday in hopes of finding some Pike. We got there around 9am and got the boat in the water in the driving rain. It was pouring, high winds and cold!!! The water was so warm there was a constant haze rising from it. Looked pretty neat when it was being blown all over the place by the wind. Made our way out there and hit some weed beds. Could only find some smallies that decided to bite when they weren't supposed to!! Quickly back into the water they went. The rain stopped around 1pm and then cleared up a bit. The wind was still high so we made our way into a quiet sheltered bay and threw some lures at some weeds in there. Couple casts in with a spinner bait I had a solid hit. I lost the fish at the boat but I wasn't sure what it was as it was long with weird markings on it. A couple casts later, it hit again. This time I landed it and I found out it was a bowfin. I've never caught one before nor seen one in person. Pretty cool looking fish!!! Took a couple of pictures and back into the water it went. That pretty well wrapped our day up. All in all we had a fun day out there despite the rain, wind and cool temps. Hopefully the picture I attached comes through!
  6. I've been to that one last year and it was pretty good. Lot's of small fish I found. Very shallow as well. Thank you though!!
  7. Never been to any of those lakes so I'll look into them. Thank you!! I was thinking of Lake St. John or Gloucester Pool. Has anyone been there lately?
  8. Hey there, I haven't posted much but I read the posts on a weekly basis and I know there is a lot of knowledge on this site. I'm looking to go fishing tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has any good lakes that are good for Pike right now? I'm not looking for specific spots, just the lakes in general. I've got a 14ft boat and looking around 2 hrs from Toronto. If anyone has any ideas of some good lakes to try tomorrow I would be thankful for your input. Cheers!!!
  9. I was there last Friday and launched out of Harry's Marina in Keswick. There was ice covering the whole channel from Harry's to the mouth of the lake. About 1/2 inch thick in some spots, so it won't be long till there is ice!!!
  10. Hey all, just passing on my experience from yesterday. I went out to Keswick and launched at Harry's around 7:30am. There was a film of ice on the channel but didn't look too bad. Launched the boat and got all ready to go. I just have a 12ft tin cup with 9.9 on the back so there's not but weight to it. The ice was a little thicker then it looked and took some rocking the boat at first to get it broken. I managed to get the boat moving and started towards the bay. Once I got out closer to the bay the ice started to get thicker. In one section I would say it was about 1/2 inch thick!! Anyways, I made it out there with no problems and headed to Kon Tiki. I tried everywhere and every depth and not even a bite. I headed back towards the marina around 1:30pm and decided to try in around the docks. Well that's where the perch were holding. Caught some really nice ones in there and there were some people fishing off the docks having success as well. The weather was beautiful and the lake was like glass. Not a ripple in sight. All in all it was a great day. So if you are headed out there anytime soon, just be ready to be greated by some ice as it's really starting to form!! Good luck!
