  1. man what a bunch of suckers you are. I have someone cast for me, start the retrieve and then pass it off when a fish hits...the whole cast/retrieve is waaay to much work
  2. I have a friend who wants to get out for his first musky next summer, but doesn't necessarily have 12 hours to spend on the water. Certainly doesn't need to be a big fish. I would imagine anything in the 30-40 inch range would suit him just fine. I need to take him out close to Barrie as we only have 1 day to get out there, and he'll already be traveling a distance just to get to Barrie. I've had decent luck at both Head Lake and Balsam, but have seen a Lake/camp on the way called Young's Lake. Its about 20 minutes closer, so save me 40 minutes round trip. I haven't heard much about Young's lake, but understand there may be both pike and musky? In some ways a lake like that might not be bad as he may see some pike action (I just won't let him use my expensive baits!). The other thought was possibly Morrison Lake. Feel free to pm me if you'd prefer. Trying to get a guy his first fish, where would you go out of these 4 spots...or suggest another if you can think of something within an hour (or so) of Barrie. Thanks
  3. skeeter have you been waiting 2 years for closure on this? I can't believe you remembered this post....or perhaps you just did a search on jb's and this came up...ya let's go with that
  4. how many goals does giguere have this year? Leafs have to find scoring somewhere, and giguere is just as likely to score as the rest of the filler making up the line-up (except Kessel...but he only cost 2 TOP draft picks and a 2nd rounder)
  5. all kinds in the humber. They'll hang out in the deeper pools before making a run through shallower water
  6. smaller lighter boat will save you lots in gas $$$ (both towing and on the water). If you're not fishing the big bodies of water, and you only fish 2 guys in the boat i say go for it and get a side console. If you're gonna have three in there better go tiller
  7. When has a ttc employee ever shown "concern for someone's well-being" when they find someone asleep? (especially when the person is in a peaceful reclined position?) I'm sure if buddy was on the floor someone would have done something.
  8. I love the defense from the ttc guy...blaming others for not being worried for his well-being...guy was clearly asleep.
  9. for me its a very social thing. Also a very lazy thing(once the holes are drilled). I go with a group of people, only use tip-ups (the flag kind) so there is no effort involved, bring a little hibachi on the ice with steaks and burgers and a few brown pops...and I wait until its about plus 10 in March. Guess I'm kind of a fair weather ice fisherman. Funny because on "softwater" I am relentless, going hardcore as long as I'm allowed to be out, and the worse the weather the happier I am!
  10. haha...ya my buddy was dumb enough to book with them last year. Told me he's pretty sure half the hut was still on parking lot they were so close to shore. They caught a mudpuppy...that's what people go to Nipissing for isn't it?
  11. can you walk 100 feet? I fished Miner's Bay a few years back and its no walk at all from your car
  12. awesome report. I was fortunate to catch a similar sized sailfish a few years back, and reading your report brought back some great memories. I hate to say it but even better than a muskie
  13. All I know id if you go there next summer watch out for rocks! A dangerous little lake
  14. thats a different kind of "trip" Chris
  15. RAMONES or Offspring or 60's music
  16. got bored at the 2 minute mark, hopefully I didn't miss anything
  17. I know nothing on the subject but the RAMONES sang a song "Scattergun" about a Mossberg so they must be good. Congrats on your new gun and your increased knowledge of Ramones trivia...you now know one thing. Kind of a catchy song too..try downloading it and you can sing it to your gun as you blast the cr@p out of something.
  18. wow all the way from Baltimore. We should be thankful that we live near fishing grounds that people come from so far away to experience. Kawartha musky opens earlier than the area you're talking about, just not as many pike to be found (thank goodness)
  19. 3 feet of ice? I thought I lived in a cold spot! Better get an auger extension
  20. I bet the Japanese are cursing that invasive species, dang largemouth eating everything in sight!
  21. sorry G can't help you with the "north" part. Best vacation I had as a single guy was taking a 4 day cruise alone. Met all kinds of people
  22. been there a few times. Found it a little pricey. I go to Bill's now when I'm out that way and depending on what I want
  23. fantastic stuff. If you can believe it, got my first computer in 2003, found this site shortly afterwards and haven't looked back. I joined a couple of other sites back then, but this is where I've stayed (because you haven't kicked me out for poor attempts at humour). Looking forward to many more years.
  24. I guess this is my point (see above). I don't see any admission of being wrong. I just see "Turns out he's a real good guy and I feel bad that I've said negative things...not going to take any of the statements back, just wish I hadn't said them because now I like him"
  25. I already did go looking (yesterday) and finding. I guess that's why I didn't comment until now. If Dax's original "claim" was inaccurate, I think there should be more than an apology. Should be a retraction of the statement (ie I was wrong) plus an apology. If the original claim was accurate then no need for apology as far as I'm concerned, even if he is a "nice guy".
