  1. when I saw the title of this thread I figured you were going to say it was powered by a 25 or 30. 40 isn't bad! I don't know the model you're talking about, but if its a heavy boat (wide? console? hull?) you may still need more than 40. If its a "smaller" boat you should be ok. I have a fairly light 16 foot princecraft with a 50 and it moves pretty good.
  2. bigger house with soundproof walls (I have 3 very noisy little boys)
  3. I have been saying that for years! never happens
  4. Agreed. The niagara has been very stingy to me this fall and I was hoping for one last shot. If the weatherman was wrong I'll be there, but all forecasts point to some big winds the next few days.
  5. good to hear you're back safely. Any other boats out there today?
  6. just a bit of an update. I was on the upper this past saturday. Water wasn't quite chocolate milk, but wasn't great either. Visibility was around 18 inches when we started, and about 2 feet by the end of the day. I'm going to keep an eye on the winds for Wed, Thurs, Fri before making my final decision about making the drive from Barrie. Right now its not looking too good unfortunately.
  7. the last owners had big minnows too, but only in the summer (when I didn't want them). Hopefully new owners will have decent sized pike bait in the winter
  8. Good stuff. Glad to hear it stayed as a fishing shop. I know "Sweet Lou" could rub some people the wrong way but I never actually had a problem with him. Happy to continue supporting the local retailer. If they only add a musky section and keep some bigger minnows through the winter I could really support them!
  9. actually caught a loon once up at the cottage. Hit a minnow under a float. Lots of snapping turtles, one water snake and a giant frog on a hula popper in the lily pads!
  10. at least you won the fight! My bizarre catch story is also from the niagara. A few weeks back my buddy hooked in to an anchor. Such a heavy one we had to drag it into the shallows to get it
  11. all the best Brian to your dad and family
  12. ...classic
  13. how do we know Tiger is a "good" person. Just because you are boring as snot in front of the camera doesn't make you a "good" person
  14. Sorry, can't help you. What would you catch there?
  15. what the heck is a yurt? I will admit there are many things I would rather do than be in algonquin, outdoors, in late february. Is there a colder place on earth?
  16. sure, call up the mistress and ask her to lie for you...whats not to respect?
  17. yipes thats cold Wayne. I'll be there in the cold, just don't count on me to drill any holes! When she warms up I'll turn the lake to swiss cheese
  18. Season closes same day up there?
  19. here's the one I got last year at the g2g. Didn't like the hold I had on the fish, set him back in the water to get a better hold (and let it catch its breath) and the thing took off like a shot...no chance for less awkward pose! Got to love the cold water catch/release. If I remember correctly, water temps last year were around 38 degrees, and we used Wayne's barge as an icebreaker at the boat launch. I plan to be there Saturday December 12. Anyone else in for that day?
  20. I've had an eskimo barracuda for about 8 years now. No major troubles other than in REALLY cold (-30) temps we had about 7 years ago it wouldn't start...guys around me with jiffy's had no problem. When the sun warmed things to around -15 it worked. Stalls out once in a while but that may be my gas mixture or some other setting I haven't adjusted. All in all its been ok, not fantastic, but fine.
  21. quite the forked tail on that little guy
  22. Although I've never seen anyone do it, there is plenty of deep water near shore up by Frenchman's creek
  23. sorry to hear that Lew. If you change your mind close to that date maybe you can hop in with someone else! I've got accustomed over the years to seeing you and Pete troll past and give the "thumbs down"...we've had some nasty conditions and poor results over the years haven't we! I've been to the Niagara 4 times this fall and it has only coughed up one fish for me
  24. Not sure if this has been posted yet as I haven't been around much lately, but usually a group of us get together for the musky closer in mid december. I don't know what the closing date is this year, but do we have any interested parties? Last year we even got a few fish (compared to the previous 5 years!). Hopefully we can get a feel here for who might be interested, and who might have a spot in their boat. By the way, if Wayne is coming and has room, you definitely want to get in his ride, pretty sure there is a barbecue and jacuzzi tub on board.
  25. you may be deleting it from favorites, but probably a few others are adding it
