  1. ...by saving on line he can afford to buy more lures. I do the same thing, and then next year I'll reverse it from one rod to the other! Get double the use out of line.
  2. I always disconnect my batteries when storing because my kids love to play in the boat in the garage. I'm afraid they'll burn out a bilge pump or even worse, pin one of their siblings head to the boat using the tilt/trim
  3. can't really fault him on this one, guy is trying to run a business, telling people the fishing sucks won't exactly help. I actually like it when I hear this...means the fish are ready to be caught as long as I can figure out the pattern. As far as the rest of your trip, man that sucks! When you have such anticipation and then things work out so poorly. You must have been worrying "What next" the whole day! I also can't believe they would walk past a boat that was making noise! If you can't deal with at that moment, just unhook the battery or something until you can have a closer look.
  4. haha don't know what this means but it made me laugh. Reminded me of the Simpson's episode where they put a squirrel in one of the cops pants
  5. some great pictures! It could be worse, I get schooled by my 5 year old regularly. Kid catches some ridiculous bass on his scooby doo rod
  6. great report. Either those are some mighty big perch or you have some tiny hands!
  7. Anyone know what species of fish are in this lake?
  8. ...no kidding! Between the 20 boats (or so) out there and the non-stop planes taking off and landing it was like Grand Central Station out there! I go to Head L. once or twice a year but I've never seen it like yesterday
  9. good timing...I was just there yesterday. They don't let you park at the top of the hill anymore (there was only room for a few vehicles there anyways). Now you have to park across the street in the grassy field but no way you'd get 30 vehicles in there...not to mention all the others that choose to fish that day).Lake was quite busy yesterday and the parking was full...my guess was maybe 15-20 vehicles...sorry didn't count!
  10. thanks Wayne, I tried that too but couldn't see any good access points. I enjoy trying out "somewhat" difficult to access lakes...but not so difficult I need to use a canoe or innertube!
  11. That's what I was wondering...is the culvert possible or is there some other way to get a 16 footer in there (hand bombing not possible). Guess I'll just have to go check it out some day or do like pics suggested and talk to the locals
  12. ...the first 10 I caught scared the pants off me trying to unhook/hold them...and that was in broad daylight! I'm sure catching your first at night would be a bit nerve wracking.
  13. I've never had an atv but now you've got me thinking! Sounds like a great day
  14. Where our cottage is up near Parry Sound we all have boats, but there is no public area to launch. We all do it right off out own shoreline. For me I'm limited to a tinny with a 9.9, but the people on either side of me manage to launch "proper" boats from their own shore
  15. great report and photos!
  16. that's funny...unless it actually comes true. Sounds like a good day with lots of variety.
  17. I've always found Balsam to be a hit or miss lake when I target musky. I'll go 3 trips and get 2 fish each time, then I'll go 3 trips getting skunked. I'll tell you one thing, there are some big pickerel in there and they like big musky baits. I get a 5+ pound pickerel almost every time I go there (at least it feels that way). Dang things won't leave me alone. Was there last week for an evening and morning bite. Evening produced a big pickerel on a hellhound glider bait(maybe I'll post the picture later if I get it off the camera) and a 20 inch largemouth, the next morning was 2 muskies (42, dink). Good luck let us know how you do, Some great drop-offs from sand/weed to deep water
  18. Anyone know if its possible to launch a boat into Rush Lake near Norland? If not, is that river from Head Lake to Rush a possibility? Looks like a couple of culverts to deal with but I'm always up for a bit of an adventure.
  19. Wow those are some great fish Lew. Congrats on a very successful trip!
  20. stinkbait...one of my preferred names on the site. I also like General Sherman (can't go wrong with a Simpson's reference). Welcome
  21. ...nuts, somebody beat me too this typo. I guess someone should follow this advice, and then when you can finally get off the toilet, go file a lawsuit.
  22. what great memories fishing can make. My dad wasn't a fisherman at all, in fact he only ever went out with me one time. Just so happened that one time took place the year before he died, its a great memory for me
  23. Holy smokes what a night! That's a beauty bass too
  24. still the same number fishing, they just aren't buying licenses! Depending on the lakes you fish, you could go a lifetime without being checked and maybe some people are beginning to figure that out
  25. "mother-in-law fish"
