  1. I stand corrected. When I think Connelly I think of skilled player that averages 50 games a year...although maybe I'm not too far off. What did he play in those other 4 seasons, may bring his average down close to 50
  2. ...that may the biggest "if" I've ever seen. Has he even played anything close to a full season the last 10 years?
  3. smallies with largies a close second
  4. yup but people with tillers are a bit off balance as it is so the goofy engine doesn't make a difference
  5. ...although you may wish for your own demise if you have a big treble stuck in your arm or eyelid and the rest of the hooks in a thrashing 45 inch musky!
  6. its been a few years since I bought a prop but I'd think you could get something for $100. Royal Distributing on the 400 near Barrie had props a couple of years ago. Not sure if they still do, or if they are any good, but I remember the cost being very reasonable
  7. ...hahaha...I laughed so hard when I read this coffee came out my nose...and I don't even drink coffee
  8. get yourself a boat rental or canoe or build a raft or strap on some water wings and get yerself out into East lake. Soon as you come out of the river there are pencil reeds everywhere along the left side. Drift through and cast a spinnerbait ahead and you will be exhausted from the number of pike/bass you catch. Great numbers lake but not too many big ones around.
  9. ...like a hot knife through butter
  10. ...you should have asked for the trade before you told me you your success rate! I'm definitely going to retire the brown/yellow and give the strawberry some swim time! Just never thought "rainbow trout" as forage for the kawarthas! Shows what I know.
  11. Wonder where this Biggs character was ranked to go? I guess they really felt someone was going to take him in the next 3 picks and they absolutely had to have him. For a guy with 3rd line potential (so the reports say) I would have waited and grabbed him at 25...if he's gone, grab a different guy with 3rd line potential. Its not like its hard to find a 3rd liner, the Leafs roster is full of them
  12. ....been carrying a strawberry sledge for years but it almost never sees the water...sounds like I need to revist it! I've had good luck in Kawarthas with sledges in more brown/yellow tones
  13. Tried that until my mother-in-law nailed the bucktail that I was buzzing back in...fought pretty good too
  14. that's a real nice catch, congrats!
  15. oooh son that's a biggun'!!
  16. haha..didn't read it too carefully. Pictured something a little bigger than a 2hp
  17. just make sure the water intake area on the shaft is submerged and that the boat is "peeing". Somtimes at slow speeds when the engine sits lower in the water it will be fine, but as you get up on a plane you might melt it if the engine can't suck up water to cool itself
  18. good call. A few extra fish got poached in the short term but I guess long term this approach will get better results and more poachers busted
  19. that's my ad and I take great offense to your insults of my handiwork and town of residence... ...and if you believe that I have some nice property in Florida to sell. I'm going to drive to Angus tonight just so I can pose on that thing.
  20. once hooked a big sheephead like that on nipissing on a 9 inch 5 ounce nitro glider bait. Thing hit (and fought) like a freight train. Pretty embarrassing though when you think you've got a nice musky, tell your partner to get the net ready and you pull up that ugly mug! Anyways, congrats on the 2 pb's
  21. Wow glad I'm reading this. On the cottage tinny I just built up my transom with a 2x6 pressure treated on the week-end. The PT just sits on top of the old transom (aluminum) and is held in place with some heavy steel brackets. I'm back up in July, looks like I'll need to find something else..assuming it hasn't rotted the end off my boat by then
  22. man you get a lot of hours on the water (have to show this post to my wife who thinks I fish a lot!). That 48 is a beaut. We've had a decent start to the year (7 fish in 5 days) but no 48's to show for it!
  23. wow, how much evidence did they think they needed! You figure you might stop them after 5 maybe 6 times caught on tape. Anywho, at least they've finally been busted
  24. what a beaut!
  25. I agree. We used to go there 20 years ago and it was getting to be a busy spot then. Fishing wasn't great either...some hammerhandles, some smallies, some crappies but for the effort not as good as you would expect. There's a parking lot off Georgian Bay Rd right near the highway. Short portage to the first lake, then a short portage to a river that leads to McRae.
