  2. You got that right strikers are the way to go,also i use the scotty powerlocks for walleye fishing for my in-line planerboard rods, but all the great lakes salmon & trout guys use those stikers....i cant wait. ...cheers

  5. WAY TO GO.. ..thanks for the report, and the pic,im sure glad that the fishing is really starting to pick up on the south shore i hope to be at port dalhoiuse real soon we always catch alot of fish every year at this time all around jordon to the welland canal....cheers
  6. Nice looking bass boat no doubt about it,but like you said brian time will tell, and im sure the guys who are ranger fans will have alot to say about it, LUND is also going to build fiberglass boats as well and will be bringing out boats that will look very simular, well its a very competetive boat market out there and everyone wants a piece of the bass boat pie ,and hey lets face it competition is good and should result in the copanies making better boats and also bringing down the prices....ye-hhaaaaaa....cheers
  7. Well it was pp, but after awhile it turns white,so i guess its fireline, but im looking forward to the new berkley fusion its supposed to be mono & braid fused together does anyone know the name of that line???? cheers
  8. Thats a funny one cliff.....lol..lol i have had a muskrat do the same at the wilmot creek down near the mouth, he was moving around just before daybreak, and i could just barely make him out with my coleman lantern,so dont feel to bad ive been there done that.... better luck next time
  9. WAY TO GO....THATS A GREAT ACOMPLISHMENT TO BE PROUD OF....CONGRATS
  10. Like i said in my other post, its to bad, that they cannot compete a little more becuase when wal-mart orders ,say rapalas they might be buying for 20 stores and will buy 10,000 at a time, well its no wonder that they can sell them for 2-5 dollars less than the mom & pop stores, but i still try and spend my money in my local stores, i also like the fact that they all know me and we talk fishing and we all knoe eachother and even fish together, and you will never get that feeling in a big box store,so we should all support them as much as we can,and yes i know money is an issue as well and i agree that i wont spend 5 bucks more for a shad rap when i know wal-mart has that same lure for less, but i do try so i hope we dont lose anyone else here in oshawa we have already lost BARKLEYS sports, thats the store started by reno & angelo viola from fishin canada,...well thanks for starting the thread it just got me thinking.....take care....cheers
  11. Well mike you guys endured pretty brutal conditions,. ...man that sure was alot of ice comming down the big river, well better luck next time , give it a week or so and im sure the ice will be gone, there is alot of rain forecasted for the next 4 days or so,that will melt all that ice fast. ...take care....cheers
  12. Some of the best fishing of the whole year is just gearing up right now, from hamilton all the way to the niagara river the salmon and trout stack up down there in the early spring because of water temps and baitfishthe best spot being port dalhouise,i have been on other boards and they are on fish right now,and will get steadily better right into may when they start spreading out, last year we were averaging 10 salmon per day,our first trip was april 7th,and there is never anymore that 30 boats spreadout over a 4-5mile area and the fishing is awsome, and its only in 20-50ft of water so its really close and they are hungry, send me a pm....and i will give you more info....cheers
  13. Great report and pics joey,it sounds like you and paul had a great time ,other than the rain, but you guys did catch some nice lookin fish, and had fun while doing it... take care....cheers
  14. YOU GUYS ARE SO FUNNY,WAYNE & ROY.. ..YOU GUYS CRACK ME UP.....I JUST SPILLED MY DRINK...LOL...LOL..LOL OH YA I ALMOST FORGOT...HAPPY-B-DAY....
  15. also you can use canoe spoons,as well as a 4'' inch twistertail,on the treble hook of a williams woobler, another is the williams quicksilver, spoon another is to jig with a peice of sucker meat or hearing from the supermarket....lakers will take all that i mentioned above and more we have also caught them early in the spring trolling mepps #4 black furys about 100ft behind the boat just under the surface about 4ft down....hope these will give you some ideas....good-luck cheers
  16. Yes adding wheight ahead of the bait will work, but there is other ways to,it can depend on your line diameter,as well as amount of line that you have out,to much line will actually bring your lure back up to the top,you can also use suspending-dots that are small dots made of lead and they work well, also there is now a product called sticky weight, and its soft and you can bend it and shape it to anysize...so check things out, like i said its just a few of the things that you can do,as well there is lead core line to....take care cheers
  17. Well i hope none of them ever close, because its the independant stores that are able to order the specialty things, that us die-hard addicts need, the big box stores only get all the basic stuff and that stuff you can get anywhere but there is lots of order-only things for salmon ,and walleye fishing that can only be found in places like, tightlines and gagnons, and everytime one store goes under thats just one less that can get us those special items, without ordering them from the manufactuers and sometimes they will not let you order thm direct . ..sometimes you can only get stuff through a dealer....well its a shame and i hope that none around the GTA,close as we have already lost a few ...take care...cheers

  19. Well i have several fenwick rods and i think they are great, last year i bought an HMX,7ft and its awsome as well i use a fenwick for bottom bouncing for walleyes and ,it works well,i have several rods that are alot more money than my fenwicks but i still prefer my fenwicks ,all my fenwicks are in the $90 to 150 range and for that price you cant beat them....go fenwick all the ways and you wont be dissapointed....cheers
