  1. WOW!!! who woulda picked the Giants to make it the Superbowl? Oh well! LETS GO PATS!!!
  2. Uh Oh! OVERTIME!!! I guess it doesn't really matter who wins, the Pats are gonna roll over whoever wins this game anyway
  3. do you have a website for your hut rentals?
  4. there are steelhead in the rivers right now
  5. well this is a joke and a half! i just bought a small "2-person" dome tent (7' X 5' - 35 sq. ft.) and modified it enough so that i can use it as a portable fish hut. that being said, it is SMALL, and will be a struggle to get 2 people in, let alone 2 people in comfortably. i'm going to be fishing at least 4 different lakes this winter... I'm not spending money to register a $30 TENT for 4 different bodies of water! what kind of dope are these people smoking? if they keep making up rules like this, they better start supplying the rest of us with their stuff. i'll be out next monday, in my UNREGISTERED tent!
  6. i've seen that one a couple times, but it cracks me up every time!
  7. JFJ has to be the first to go, for obvious reasons... the horrific deals and signings he has made in the past few years, he can't be allowed to stay past the trade deadline because he is bound to make more stupid deals. Second and Third is Sundin and Raycroft. Sundin, even though is is playing great this year, we need to trade him to get some prospects and high draft picks, and there is a good chance that he wont be playing next year anyway... this is the last year of his contract. Of course he will have to waive his no trade clause. what they should do is make a deal with Sundin and tell him that if he chooses to play again next year, the leafs will pick him up as a free agent in the summer. It's a win/win for both parties, Sundin will have a chance at the cup with a playoff bound team, and the leafs will get Sundin back for next year, and they will still have the players that they get from that trade. Raycroft has got to go, so that Pogge and Clemensen aren't sharing ice time for the Marlies. once Raycroft is gone, Clemensen can be the back-up for the Leafs and Pogge can have the #1 position and get enough ice time playing with the Marlies. Lets just hope the leaf's scouts do a better job this year with the good draft positions that we will have this summer.
  8. the ice near Roches Pt. was a week old MAYBE, and was probably 3-4 inches AT BEST, AND with the mild spell that we had over the past week, he should have known better! I was out on Scugog on Monday afternoon on 10 inches of ice (VERY SAFE in my opinion), and thanks to IGNORANT people like this man, my dad was SCREAMING at me over the phone for being on the ice. when this man went missing, the news reports made a convincing case that ALL ice in Southern Ontario was UNSAFE!!! and thanks to those reports, they made every other viewer in Southern Ontario Ignorant as well! and they do it every year don't they?!?! every time a person goes through, they say "stay off the ice, it's not safe!" meanwhile, there are areas that have 10-12 inches of ice and are definitely safe enough! but when somebody ventures off somewhere that they shouldn't, all of a sudden the entire region is unsafe. just like last january, when those twenty some-odd vehicles went through the ice at Gilford near the shore. i was there that day (parked on land) and there was 8-10 inches of solid ice out on the bay... but i saw the news report that night, and they said "stay off the ice, it's not safe!" there were literally THOUSANDS of people on the bay that day, and it was safe. but a few IGNORANT people decided that it was safe to park their cars on the ice... here is a link to a satellite image that was taken on Jan 2nd. there is no ice at Roches Pt. yet. that was a week ago, and the there was no ice where he had parked his car (Osbourne St. at Roches Pt.). http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/mod...io.143.250m.jpg All of that being said, i feel awful that someone had to die just for a few fish... i just wish people would learn to stay on the safe ice. please, everyone stay safe! i don't want to hear about any more deaths this year
  9. great read! i can't imagine trying to go through life with Prader-Willi syndrome. just think about it... no matter how much you eat, your brain is telling you to eat more. you could eat 5 or even 10 pounds of food in one sitting, and still be hungry... your brain still thinks that your stomach is empty.
  10. well, it's a big lake, where are you planning to go?
  11. atta boy steve! i'm lookin forward to slayin them with ya up at nipissing in a couple weeks!
  12. for the most part, dawn dusk generally are the best times... barometric pressure, i think, has the biggest effect on fishing, both in summer and winter.
  13. that second period was pretty sloppy. i hope they pick it up a bit.
  14. hahaha, i haven't even been out on the ice yet. it's killing me!
  15. sounds like loose wiring or a bad contact somewhere. i had a similar problem with my humminbird portable fishfinder, one of the batteries left some corrosion on the top panel where the batteries are placed. i just cleaned that off, and now it's working fine. good luck with your unit.
  16. check that link again, and instead of clicking on the suspending models, click on the "rattlin' rogues" link, i think the colour you are looking for is the very first model. by the way, the rattlin' rogues also suspend.
  17. Tightline in Pickering sells rogues, and so does Gagnon sports in oshawa... i don't know about the exact colour that you are looking for, but i know they both sell them
  18. West Lake is directly connected to Lake Ontario via a very small canal. i've caught a few Gobies in there.
  19. most places on Rice have similar prices... i guess they have to, just because there is so much competition from other rental companies and resorts.
  20. you can rent a boat in Wellington, that's on West Lake. i've fished that lake since i was about 8 or 10 years old, and i don't get skunked very often. from what i understand West lake has a better quantity of fish and also a better chance of getting a bigger sized fish as well, but i've never fished East lake before, so i'm just going by what i'm told. ask the bait store owner where to fish, they're usually pretty good at giving out the hot spots. good luck and i want a report when you get back
  21. i believe Tightline in Pickering has leeches, don't know if that's too far out of the way... you should call in advance first though.
  22. I'm staying at rice next weekend (saturday-tuesday) i'll bring back a better report i promise.
  23. i don't think it really matters, Lake Ontario Salmon only have a 2% hatch rate anyways. also, the fish generally come into the rivers after a rain, so the water will be higher and muddier when they enter the river. this year wont be any different than past years.
  24. i went there years ago. was only on the lake for 3 or 4 hours. directly out from the resort (i don't know the name, sorry) near the opposite shore got a decent 2 - 3 lb smallmouth, and something else broke me off, probably a pike. and i got a decent walleye drifting with a worm on bottom out in the middle of the lake. i've only been there the one time, sorry i can't help any more.
  25. this may not be the case for your area, but last weekend we caught a few walleye that were really fat, and i was thinking the same thing...maybe they haven't spawned yet, but they were full of baitfish, the 3 pound walleye we got had 5 perch in its stomach, one of which being 7 inches long.
