  1. so, as the title reads, i just picked up one of these fancy "self-inflating" air mattresses that was on sale at Gagnon's yesterday for $25. i got home and took it out of it's case, it didn't come with any directions, so i was kinda confused right off the bat... i saw that it had a small valve in one corner, that opens (loosens) and closes (tightens). so i open it up and expect the thing to be inflated when i get up in the morning (this morning). it definitely was not inflated. so now i'm thinking, is this thing broken, or am i a complete tool? anyone know how to inflate one of these things?
  2. I've got a 5'6" Berkley Cherrywood U/L with a small shimano reel... i've had it for probably 5 or 6 years. i use either 4lb or 6Lb mono on it depending on what i'm fishing for. over the years i have landed several smallies over 4 lbs, and a couple over 6lbs. one of the 6's was on 4lb test... that battle must have been close to 20 minutes... SOOO much fun! by no means would i "recommend" the cherrywood, because my dad had one and it broke quite easily, and i've heard others with the same complaint... that being said, i have not had that problem yet, and neither has my brother. i'll probably upgrade after this year. i live for U/L fishing... I LOVE it! there are lots of quality rods that are affordable out there. good luck with your purchase!

  8. i just joined as well... good stuff!
  9. my dad's been hackin and coughing somethin fierce for the last 2 weeks. thankfully i have not been affected. this is the first winter EVER that i have not gotten at least a cold. but now that i've said that, i'll probably be sick next week! Karma's a b*tch like that!
  10. that's a cool shot, any idea how those are formed?
  11. nice day out indeed... my biggest carp to date was caught on a floating perch coloured rapala. they are strange creatures sometimes.
  12. here are the 2 websites... http://www.thereelthingfishing.com/ http://www.westlakewillows.com/index.html both are too expensive in my opinion... you can get a boat/motor and full tank of gas on rice lake for $50... someone on West lake needs to open up another rental operation and charge less than these places to drive their prices down.
  13. The Reel Thing tackle shop in Wellington also rents boats, not sure of the comparison in prices of both places, but the reel thing is too expensive for a boat rental in my books.
  14. I've been fishing there regularly for the last 12 or so years. my grandparents lived in Wellington for a while and as i was growing up, i would fish there every time i visited them. lots of pike, walleye, and bass... but since you're there mid June, Bass wont be open yet... I'll probably be there pretty much every weekend as soon as walleye and pike open on May 3rd. watch for my reports come May.
  15. the reason why they walk those items up to the cash is because they are valuable and small... small items are easy to put in a pocket without being noticed...
  16. there are a lot of Steelhead (Rainbow trout) staged just outside the rivermouths right now, when the temperature is right and we get some rain, they will start moving up the river.
  17. they can be caught at any time during the day, i have even caught them before the sun rises and after it sets while fishing for walleye. the pike move into the shallows after ice out when they prepare to spawn. unfortunately that will probably be after March 31 this year. they used to be open all year on Lake Ontario, that was just changed in the new regulations this year. i used to catch pike at the mouth of Duffin's Creek when the trout start coming in at the end of march and beginning of april.
  18. that ice looks UGLY! nice feed of perch though!
  19. if you want a good place to start fishing muskie, try scugog, that lake is absolutely loaded with muskie. use a double black bucktail spinner and burn it just above the weeds.
  20. awesome recording! it's cool to see another sound "engineer" on here. I've also got a small home studio thing goin on. I just finished a project with a couple Hip-Hop artists. they recorded 15 songs over the past couple months and they just finished a couple days ago. i can't wait to start doing bands though. rap is not really my expertise. It's amazing how many tracks go into a single song. For those who had never thought about this before... A regular 5 piece rock band will consist of: a full drum set will consist of 16 separate tracks (sometimes more), 2 rhythm guitar tracks + 1 lead guitar track, 1 bass track, 1 lead vocal, generally at least 2 Harmony vocals or background vocals. i have heard songs with up to 6 or 7 different vocal harmony tracks. here's another little tidbit that i'm sure a lot of people were unaware of... the lead singer of a band will usually do all of the vocal tracks on a recording (lead vocals as well as harmonies) then when they play live someone else will sing the background parts. the reason for this is that the main vocalist can harmonize with himself a lot better than someone else trying to harmonize with him. The Eagles are an exception to this however.
  21. great catch! i'm lookin to do the same thing on monday.
  22. DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN! GEEEEEZE!
  23. BAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That's Awesome! I definitely burst out laughing on that one! good stuff! hahaha
  24. High Speed is rarely available in countryside locations... BUT... I don't exactly follow you about wireless being the only other option... i believe in order to get a wireless signal you must have a hard-wire running to your house, then you can set up a wireless router to that hard-line. that way you can pick up a wireless signal within a certain range of your router (usually confined to your own house and a small radius around your house. AKA your neighbour, depending on how close you are to them, may be able to leech off your wireless signal). for example, i have a wireless network set up in my house, and i can pick up two other wireless networks that are close to my house. I think Satellite is your only other option other than dial-up... i would go with Sympatico dial-up, i was with them for a few years, and you can download at an average rate of 5kbps, which isn't too bad.
  25. it was delicious! lookin to do it again on friday! closing day on the BOG!
