  1. West Lake for me... i'll post pictures when i get back...never been skunked there on opener!
  2. well, first off, the otonabee river is actually located on Rice lake and you can definitely catch walleyes there during the spring, but you'll need a boat to get there unfortunately. BOQ has some spots that you can fish from shore, i've only fished that lake once and that was this past winter, so i can't really help you there. I'll be in that area on the opener, but i'll be fishing West Lake.
  3. why would you make it age 14 to write the said test? when in fact it is age 18 to get a license. i would think... if of course this test was passed to be a mandatory requirement to get a license, that you would write it when you go to get your license for the first time? personally i don't agree with having a test for getting a fishing license for one reason, and one reason alone... i have taken many inexperienced friends out fishing who know next to nothing about the regulations... so how would it be fair to say that they have to write an exam just so they can go fishing with a friend who already knows the regulations. and like previously posted, the people who are breaking the laws usually just don't give a poop.
  4. they're all bandits...plain and simple...so this Esso refinery goes up in flames...that's their loss, they'll have to pay to get things back to normal...now every other gas company jacks up their prices...they are just exploiting another companies misfortune and making an even bigger profit than they already were. they are all thieves...just pure robbery!
  5. we were in 80FOW. i had my fishfinder there, we were marking fish all day long. marked some suspended smelt and possibly small herring at about 40 - 50 feet. all of the lakers and whities were within 3 or 4 feet of bottom.
  6. Got back from a great day at Smokey's today. started fishing around 9am after getting set up in the hut and everything. as soon as i got my spreader to the bottom i had a fish on...didn't get it up, but a good start to the day none the less. about ten minutes later and we've already missed 3 fish. then i finally get one up...about a 4-5 lb whitefish, my first whitefish. and while i was fighting that, my brother hooked one as well, he missed that one. after untangling the lines that were stuck from the fight, we get our lines back down...as soon as mine hits the bottom, i've got another fish on, this time a 4 lb lake trout. all of this action was between 9 and 10:30am. after that fish, we didn't have much action until my dad pulled in a nice 5 lb lake trout at about 2:30. and that was all we got for the rest of the day, we left the lake just after 4pm. from 10:30 - 2:30 we had sporadic hits, but nothing stuck around long enough to get a hook set.
  7. tip-ups are sensitive enough, no need for added sensitivity with a superline. i've got mono on all of mine.
  8. hey guys, it was great meeting and fishing with all of you yesterday. we'll definitely have to do it again real soon. even though i only had 2 hits all day and didn't catch anything, i still had a great time. i really wish we could have gotten out earlier in the morning though...like 8:00 or so. maybe we all could have caught at least one fish each if we didn't have to wait around on shore for so long...eh Boots??? Jokes! Anyways, I'm looking forward to the next time we meet up and go fishing. Scott
  9. Alright, I'm pumped, i want a nice walleye through the ice. i am soooo looking forward to this! it'll be awesome meeting all of you guys too. see you all saturday morning. Scott
  10. i hope the sound at the ACC is better than it usually is...i really hate that venue for concerts, I've seen Aerosmith there twice and Nickelback once...it's just aweful, very echoey, it's not very good! Molson Amphitheatre is much better...but i prefer shows in small venues anyways...never the less i hope it's a good show. Have fun!
  11. i was there last friday...north end of the lake...went in the morning, and didn't get fishing till about 8am. so i missed the morning bite. ended up with a bunch of small perch. i'm hoping to go back up for the night bite this weekend.
  12. i don't want to muddy this up any more than it already is, but, i heard on the Lake Simcoe Message Board that it was Dan Hales that got bought out by Steve's. It really doesn't matter i guess...
  13. i'll be there, i just need some directions to where to park and where we're gonna meet. and steve, if you wanna pick up minnows, i'll pitch in a couple bucks.
