  1. Love those "sticks" I make them by the dozen, never jigged with anything better!
  2. Cliff, I know where you are coming from. I started an apprenticeship in '68 with NO knowledge of the typography trade; went back to school studied and learned and learned on the job. I have never looked back since and the only time I've had off is my earned holidays. I moved into Advertising Agencies (they needed skilleded typographers) in my 40s when computer took over typesetting. I've hired my teachers after they retired, I still keep in touch with them. I have passed on my skill to whoever wanted to learn and proud to have a daughter who took marketing and was hired at two companies that I had enhanced and has herself a bright career. If you lose your job do what it takes . . . my motto has alway been "the best time to look for a job is when you have one" I actually did it in '76 (when I worked midnights) and the next 15 years were the best years of my life . . .
  3. I have 4 girls, 20 -32; teething is nothing compared to the shoes I had/have to navigate around!
  4. PM big Cliff he may have some laying around! My neighbour threw one out (he can't change a light bulb) during the summer 5 hp MDS in mint condition, probably used once or twice. I replaced the plug and float, cleaned it, changed the oil, put tubes in the tires and sold it for $350.00 all steel no plastic!
  5. And they need it! Geography wise. I was in Florida yesterday morning and the snow thing came up . . . and a gentleman asked me where we were from and told him ONTARIO CANADA . . . his answers "I guess you'll be home before us" (flight leaving at the same time) and then I asked him where he was from and he told me Arkansas . . . ? I almost broke up! No snow in my drive way!

  21. Hopefully everything works out well. Family dinners can be had at any time of year. I have one with my children every Sunday. My only living parent is getting close to 90 and every time we see her it's a blessing; but we also know that illness can happen at a moment's notice and can also be devastating; especially during the holidays; We can only hope for the best for our loved ones. take care A
